Samuel Adams White Christmas

Samuel Adams White Christmas

As crisp as the first snowfall of the year, this unfiltered white ale is blended with holiday spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, & orange peel. The familiar citrus and wheat characters of the ale are complimented by the warmth of the spices for a festive brew that’s perfect for the season.

3.2 'tis the season, 'tis so...poured a bottle, cooled, into a clear tumbler. aroma:clean and malty slight. appearance: nice cloudiness with thin laces. taste: not too heavy; not sweet; gentle on the spice side flavors. cinnamon. palate: medium fizz. overall: a rather mild holiday brew. unobtrusive and easy to enjoy.
3.2 Pours a cloudy amber with a thin white head. Not a lot of aroma. Spicy hoppy finish. Not too bad.
2.9 (12oz bottle) AROMA: malt, grain, more of a heavy lager nose instead of a witbeer APPEARANCE: light amber, slightly hazy, oily thin head TASTE: grain, biscuit, some soft bran PALATE: smooth, creamy, tad dry on the finish, not heavy but with some frontal body OVERALL: easy to drink grainy beer, seems more like a good lager than a witbeer, middle of the road, not one of Sam Adams best.
5.0 My favorite Christmas beer! wheat beer with spices, balanced, not malty.
2.9 Pretty much what you expect: the Samuel Adams Winter spice blend (same as what we get in Winter Lager and Old Fezziwig Ale), only this time applied to a witbier. Not bad, just straightforward, a combination of clove, banana, and vanilla white ale notes with lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. Yeast and citrus pop up on the back end, with an unsatisfying sweetness that grows stronger and more annoying as the pint warms. Pours a hazy gold with a slight white head and lackluster lacing. Good smooth mouthfeel, but it doesn't help the over-spicing and the ever-increasing sugariness. Pass.
3.1 Cloudy golden to amber color with a modest off-white head. Nearly no aromas. Some white bread and hint of zest. No bad scents at least. Lightly sweet, with some wheat, little lime and hints of ginger and nutmeg. Simple nog beer. 11/12
2.6 Hazy gold with a very small head. The aroma is nutmeg. Sweet clean malt flavor with some nutmeg. Meh
2.9 Cloudy straw gold pour with two fingers of white head. Nose shows round sweet spice and subtle bready yeast. Nutmeg/ginger/cinnamon. Not terribly offensive in the flavor. Easy enough to drink. Spice profile could definitely be more aggressive. Glad it’s not....Medium body with a soft carbonation and touch of bite.
3.0 Bottle - Pours pale gold to peach, white head. Orange, grass, fruit make the nose. Flavors of light fruit, hint of lemon cough drops, spices, citrus peel, mild hops end.
3.2 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold color with a medium sized head that slowly dissipates, leaving a bit of lacing. Smell is of bready malts, holiday spices, some citrus, and some additional dark fruits. Taste is a nice combination of the aroma, very smooth in the mouth. Nice medium body, easy drinking, but flavorful.
3.4 Poured from bottle best by April orange gold with a nice white head. Aromas of clove lemon wheat and spices. Taste is slightly sweet hoo fruit caramel and a cinnamon finish.
3.4 Bottle poured into my Weihenstephan glass. Orange gold color and a foamy white head. Aroma is cloves, coriander, wheat, lemon. Initial taste is wheat, pepper, spices, coriander. Aftertaste is dry with mostly wheat sticking around. Lively carbonation and a thick but smooth mouthfeel. This is a solid wit! It?s not revolutionary but it is better than a lot of their other attempts at the style.
3.7 Bottle from Beer and Wine. Bold orange body with medium head. Nose is funky, citrus, enjoyable. Taste of hops, fruits, cinnamon and spices, Nice and warming finish.
3.7 Bottle. Clear gold poured with a nice white head. The aroma was citrus and wheat with some Christmas spices.
3.1 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams tulip glass. Cloudy honey golden color with very little head. Slight citrus aroma. Very faint taste of spices. Clean and crisp.
3.0 Aromas of orange and spice. Flavor has too much orange, I didn’t care for this beer at all. White beers aren’t high on my list.
3.2 12 oz. bottle. Poured hazy copper with off white head. Aroma was cinnamon, spices and wheat. Taste was mildly sweet and spices.
2.5 355ml bottle. Hazy amber-ish colour, with a tall white head. Wheat, caramel and wayyyyy too much winterspices.
3.3 Poured into a perfect pint. 3.0 A: Lightly hazed yellow orange color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is a touch below average and just a wisp or two of lacing is left. 3.5 S: Quite a pleasant aroma. Big coriander with peppery and slightly bready yeast. Just enough sweetness from a neutral maltiness. Simple, but nice. 3.75 T: It tastes even better than it smells. Coriander and peppery spiciness. Sweet neutral malts. Hints of cinnamon and wintry spices. 4.0 M: Medium body. Pleasantly creamy with good moderate carbonation. Supremely smooth. 5.0 D: Supremely drinkable. I could put this down all night. ★ 638 characters DavoleBomb, Nov 11, 2014
3.3 bottled - a good Christmas beer. Nice cinnamon and clove flavor. Nice golden color.
2.9 Bottle. Pours good with a small head. Lagery aroma, grasses, light spice. Taste is lager with some cinnamon, roasted malts, nutmeg, bubble gum. Meh.
3.1 Pours clear, bubbly golden with a thick but not long-lasting snow-white head. Aroma presents yeasty and fruity notes, not strong but welcoming. Flavor is stronger and more complex, wheaty with hints of spice, citrus and - salt? Mouthfeel features typical body and fizz. Drink it at a party or while watching one of those timeless holiday specials for the umpteenth time.
3.0 High carbonation with overwhelming spices. The spice to hop ratio is off leaving this a weird brew.
2.7 bottle @ Jungle Jims / Eastgate OH --- Hazy medium orange amber color, white head cover, swirls of lace. Aroma of malt and light nutmeg. Taste is nothing more than a lighter colored version of a pumpkin ale. Spice is there, along with more sense of pumpkin than malt. A little watery; not satisfying.
2.6 355ml bottle. Hazed golden pour. Large head. Nutmeg aroma, Flavor is nutmeg, just a pumpkin beer gone witbier.
1.0 Very disappointed in the flavor of this beer. It could best be described as sour. No hints of cinnamon or nutmeg at all. Finishes with a very skunky taste.
2.8 Pours a hazy, dark golden yellow color with lighter banana yellow hues and a one finger, frothy white head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind. Zesty autumnal spice aroma with sweet citrus, malted wheat and a strong bread/yeast presence. Smells more like a fall beer than a winter/Christmas ale. Reminds me of a pumpkin wheat beer with lots of cinnamon, allspice and ginger followed by bread, banana, clove, cider and orange peel. Interesting approach to the style but not very inviting. On the fuller end of medium body with a peppery spice presence that lingers over the yeast and sweet citrus notes into a slightly dry finish. Prominent zesty spice up front with clove, cinnamon, ginger, allspice and nutmeg followed by strong bread/yeast flavor, sweet citrus rind, banana, bubblegum, apple cider and subtle pumpkin. Tastes appropriate for the season but it’s slightly watered down and the flavors don’t mesh very well. Kind of bland except for being heavily spice and having strong wheat/bread flavor. Even the spice blend feels a bit generic and the orange peel is buried underneath the other notes. Okay for this time if year but not something that I would want to drink more than once.
3.0 12oz bottle 11/12/15 (Meijer)-38° in Tumbler-Pours a cloudy yellow. Aroma of yeast, spices, and malt. Taste of he same with more spices. This light bodied brew should is not bad.
1.8 Weak attempt at a Christmas spice beer . Shabby and boring . I could drink all 12 and I would worry about calories. That's all.
2.8 Found at Famous Wines in August, notched "Best By April." Spicy nose of the usual holiday/pumpkin pie beer. Cloudy gold color under a foamy head. Taste has mostly, yes, cinnamon and nutmeg, like the usual pie spice beer. Malt is starting to pick up some phenol. Attempts to create a holiday Wassail character, but again, it seems more like just another pumpkin pie spice beer. At least it’s not too sweet. Most beers I’ve let sit just a few months past their date hold up better than this.
