San Miguel Beer has been brewed since 1890 in the Philippines. A Spanish brewery, La Segarra, was created and licensed in 1946 to brew San Miguel Beer in Europe. In 1953 the Spanish brewery acquired sole and independent rights to San Miguel Beer in Europe, and by 1957 had changed its name to San Miguel. In 1991 Bulmers acquired to rights to distribute the Spanish brewed San Miguel in the UK. In 2000 the Spanish brewery Mahou bought the San Miguel Brewery, along with the European rights to San Miguel Beer. In 2003 Scottish & Newcastle purchased the UK distribution rights from Mahou, and brewed it in Edinburgh. In 2008 Carlsberg acquired the UK rights, and moved production to its brewery in Northampton. In 2010 Carlsberg reached a deal with Mahou to brew and distribute the 5% San Miguel throughout Europe. Mahou retain the brewing rights to all other European San Miguel branded beers.

European San Miguel 5% beers are listed here. European San Miguel beers (ranging from 4.5% to 5% - usually 4.8%) bought before 2010 are listed at San Miguel (Spain)

1.5 Pretty awful beer. Taste most reminiscent of well chewed cornflakes. Very adjuncty. Quite gassy and otherwise unpleasant.
2.1 Clear golden appearance. Aroma is corn, sweet and malt. Flavour is hoppy, bitter, citrus and malt.
2.6 Some grain malt and corn. Wsterish lager, served very cold. Small glass in Spain in a nice place does not hurt noone.
2.2 Pours yellow with medium white head. Flavour is malty with some minimal hops. Watery, grassy, some sweetness, and overall just a standard lager.
2.5 Bottle at office BBQ (chickened out of bringing my own down). Malty aroma. Light brown. Bubbly translucent white head. Light bitter. Malty with a sour tang. Light. Thin. Average-fizzy carbonation. Slightly astringent finish. OK euro lager.
2.6 On tap at Casita Canaria, Playa del Ingles. Clear golden colour, dense white head. Aroma is medium sweet, malty, honey, light grassy. Flavour follows, smooth and refreshing. Light bodied. Decent drop.
3.4 330ml bottle at 5%, brewed in EU (Northampton?). Large smooth micro-bubble head, dissipating fairly quickly. Somewhat distinct yet typical lager aroma. Pale gold. Low-moderate carbonation. Sweet, with a grass-adjacent hop flavour quickly turning into a bready, biscuity maltiness. Unexciting, but fairly pleasant. There's not much to explore here for the beer connoisseur, but as suggested on the packaging it would no doubt go well with food. Surprisingly earthy, given the style and appearance, but otherwise still light on flavour.
3.2 Pours light gold with thin head and lacing. Smells slightly sweet and yeasty. Taste is light, malty and sweet with tough of hops. Not amazing
2.0 Der Geruch ist leicht getreidig. Hellgelbes Bier mit grober Schaumkrone. Der Antrunk ist getreidig-wässrig, leicht süß. Unschöner Metallgeschmack. Aromatisch nichtssagend, langweilig. Ganz leichte eindimensionale Citrusnoten.
Testato
2.0 From backlog. 0,3 litre Bottle from Systembolaget Charlottenberg. Clear Golden with white head. Malts, hops, sweetness.
2.6 Very sweet yet smooth and light lager. Draft, very refreshing on a hot day in Spain
3.9 Klassisk smag af pilsner men med lidt sødme. Er en anelse mere “frisk” i smagen end en standard nordeuropæisk pilsner.
5.0 Mate, San Miguel is nice! If you don’t like it, you don’t have friends.
2.0 Clear golden, minimal off-white head. Corn and sweet malts. Fake sweetness. Light body, high carbonation, moderate finish. Bad.
2.2 You can take a few sips and feel nothing it's absolutely worthless in a very competitive market iam surprised that retailers still stock this one, just fully carbonated full of fizz nothing else. Useless avoid at all costs...
2.0 (blonde, la plus pire dans le genre, agréable en terrasse, pas être difficile, surtout pour un entretien d’embauche !)
3.2 330ml bottle. Pours pale straw, small white head. Aroma is grainy malt and a hint of lemon and lime. Taste, same. Great on a hot day. Used to love cans of this on Spanish holidays. Its not bad at all for a lager.
1.9 Bottle in a bar in Lekeitio. Pours golden with a rim of white froth. Flavours of tin and syrupy malts. Fairly poor.

2.6 Forgot that I hadn't reviewed this at the start of my Ratebeer journey along with a bunch of other macro stuff. Anyway, got given a free bottle of this when I had an expensive haircut recently. It is what it is, but I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't refreshed by this lager. 330ml bottle.
1.9 330 ml bottle. Pours a clear amber with light head. Aromas of corn syrup and grain. Flavors follows same with a good dollop of cardboard.
3.5 No es tan mala. Es fresca y pequeña, solo 250ml. Nada increíble y poco alcohol. Buena para pasar el rato
2.5 6/6/2019. Draught in Newcastle. Poured golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of grass, malt, light hops and light caramel. Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Better than average macro lager.
4.9 I love this beer way back my first toast in Auckland MDM store. The taste is old school which I prefered most to drink with my dad. The only things I disappoint is the price and it is too pricey in most beer store in Auckland. It overall, it's a perfect beer to drink.
2.8 Pale lager from cask at Lochairlort Inn, for Jane's wedding. Drinkable, pokey larger that got my tongue wagging. Nice beer for a clot day. Nice to read that it's brewed n Nottingham.
3.8 Pint at the local pub. It's a good lager. Canned variant tastes almost identical, so no worries there. 500ml can costs about 1.60gbp at the local.
1.9 European version of this, not good, lacks flavour, aroma, dryness and body. Pale gold, limited head, fizzy and not very nice.
