Santa Fe Pale Ale

Santa Fe Pale Ale

Anything but a typical American Pale, Santa Fe Pale Ale is as full bodied as its most robust English counterparts, while asserting its American origin with a healthy nose resplendent with Cascade and Willamette hops. It finishes with a well-balanced combination of the subtle, almost Pilsner-like maltiness accentuated by the German yeast used to brew this Santa Fe classic, and a hop bite sufficient to leave a lingering smile on the face of any fan of American Pale Ales.

3.0 0,33l bottle @ Santa Fe Convention Center. Pours clear golden with a medium head. Aroma is slightly fruity malts. Flavor is slightly fruity malts with some hops. Quite English.
3.4 A little hazy Amberish gold with a thin tight off white head. Caramalty and leafy hoppy nose quite balanced and even on the nose. Flavor is the same. Calm and balanced overall, caramalty, leafy hoppy, a touch lemony, and a touch grassy. Crisp and dryish and a little too balanced. Could have used a more crisp and less earthy hop tone.
3.0 Light amber beer with a thin off white head that disappears quickly. Surprisingly sweet nose of caramel, honey, and perfumed soap. Flavor is bitter initially with some musky floral hops giving way to a burst of sweetness reminiscent of butterscotch and toffee. The individual flavors are ok, but the combination is a bit off putting. Overall, not great.
3.2 bottle. hazy dark gold with almost no head. peach/ and tart apricot fruitiness with a bready/crackery malt note in aroma. lots of bready malt notes with mild citrus hop flavors and a hint of red apple skin. medium full body with a creamy texture and moderately low carbonation.
3.3 Nice amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of floral hops, hay/grain, & some spice; Flavor of slight sweet malt/biscuit, floral hops, and some citrus; Finish is slightly bitter; Pretty decent actually.
3.4 Bottle at the Alamogordo VFW. Fairly straight forward English pale. Not overly hopped but bitter enough. Went fantastically well with a green chili cheese burger.
3.7 Clear, amber pour with a white head. The aroma has some malty bread notes along with mild pine. It has a medium body with lively carbonation. The taste is bittersweet and a little dry.
2.8 Bottle. Uninspired pale ale. Bland mild earthy hops and grainy malts. Dark copper color.
2.8 12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a thin beige that lasts. Taste is of grass, malt, hops and some citrus. Similar aroma. Has a good body with a slight dry and bitter finish. Easy to drink and rather enjoyable.
3.3 Medium amber with a foamy head. Aromas light fruity hops or almost grape like with pear, grass and slight caramel to balance. Flavors fruity hops or grapw like, slight grassy. Medium bitter with a light sweetness. Decent and clean.
2.7 Decent Sierra Nevada imitation. Low hop slightly malty for me more of a British pale style
2.6 "fairly typical and average english style pale ale. admitedly not my favorite style, but there have been standouts. This isn’t one. Decent floral hops and malt balance, but a little cardboard going on. Meh."
3.2 12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of malts, pine and citrus. Taste is caramel, biscuit and citrus.
3.3 Las Vegas. NV - Total Wine - Summerlin - 12 oz bottle. Dark orange pour, slightly hazy with an off-white frothy head, decent lacing. Aroma has a ripening vegetable quality to it with a hint of onion powder - odd - but not off-putting. Flavor has some peach-like frutiness, just a hint of citrus bitterness and some ripening vegetables in the back end. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Enjoyed this after a long day of hiking at Canyonlands National Park overlooking the canyon at Grand View Point Overlook,
3.2 On tap. Pours a clear gold with an amber hue and a white head that starts at the edges and dissipates completely. Aroma has a good amount of earthy citrus with light grain and grass backing. Flavor is more grassy with some sweet grains and a strong biscuit backbone.
2.6 Six pack from Dick’s. Pours amber color with a small, fizzy head. Aroma is pretty weak, has metallic undertones with a little grassiness and soured grains. The palate is light and the flavor is just as the nose let on. There are notes of pennies, grass, earth, caramel, and a kind of lactic finish. I have had other offerings from Santa Fe I prefer. [June 2, 2014} Here’s another bottle from that six pack. I’m really starting to have a disdain for this beer. The aroma has redeeming qualities of grassy hops and grapefruit, but a prominent metallic quality along with soured grains. The flavor is strongly metallic again with a mineraly finish. The finish is almost tart and seemingly unclean. It doesn’t have that cleanliness or refreshing quality I look for from the style at all.
2.5 Bottle. A- Malty, hoppy. A- Copper color, clear liquid, white head. T- Balanced, slightly bitter, malty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, crisp finish. O- I was surprised with how mild this was. Not that bitter at all and almost reminded me more of a lager of Pilsner. Overall, if was a pretty average beer.
3.3 Pour is a clear copper/amber with two fingers of billowy white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is malt and pine. Flavor is sweet malt with medium hoppiness. Medium bodied. Finishes medium sweet. Very nice beer.
2.0 Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is sweet malt and that is not even that strong. Flavor is more caramel malt then anything else with hops no where in the picture. This was bland, utterly flavorless and down right poor.
2.9 12oz bottle. Light amber color, white color, and light lacing. Light aroma. Taste is biscuity, with a little citrus/hop kick, not very strong. Medium body and carbonation. Mediocre pale ale.
3.2 Draft at Quarter’s BBQ in ABQ. Clear dark gold color. Floral and citrus notes. Taste lacks the hop punch you are expecting. Not enough balance or depth to the flavor. Not the best pale ale out there.
4.2 Bottled somewhere in Santa Fe. Dark golden colored, nice head. Pleasant hoppy nose, some malts, some yeast perhaps. Very pleasant hoppy flavor, malts to back it up, very easy to drink. Really my kind of pale ale, i just loved it.
0.7 Not a good pale ale at all. Didn’t really get anything but a watery substance with carbonation.
3.8 Very nice pale ale. Pours a light amber with a tan head and substantial lacing. Nose is pine and citrus. Taste recapitulates the nose and adds more grapefruit and malt. Mouthfeel has a lingering thickness and the finish is bitter and long-lasting. If I were blindfolded, I would have thought this an IPA. Nicely done.
3.3 12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s. Gold and clear with a white head. Aroma and flavor of toasted malts, toffee, caramel, citrus fruit and light pine. Light to medium body with a crisp feel and a smooth finish.
2.5 12 oz bottle. Not my favorite pale. Has almost a coffee taste to it. Doesn't have the usual hops that I like.
3.4 This beer was mellow with not a lot of ale flavors that I would normally expect, but the malts were very good.
3.2 11/2/2013. From bottle. Pours amber color with a white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel, malt. Light fruity flavors with caramel and hops on the finish.
2.9 Bottle. Aroma is subtle. Toasted malts, caramel, and some barnyard notes. Pours a hazy amber hue with a white ring and minimal lacing. Taste is fruity initially with biscuit, caramel in the middle and a little citrus kick in the finish. Malt is very pronounced.Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a sub par pale ale. Just not worth another.
2.7 Draft at taproom. Pours golden with a half inch of white foam. Not much on the nose. Maybe 2 or 3 hops died in the making of this beer but this tastes like mostly malt to me. Finishes clean. It’s not bad or undrinkable just not compelling.
