4.0 This is an all around good belgian white. White head with light body that is cloudy in appearance. Light taste and smells of citrus, wheat and spice. Mouthfeel is good with medium carbonation and very light body. This is a drinkable beer too. Tasty and unoffensive. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-01-2007 00:39:50
3.3 One of Saranacs better offerings. Tastes like Blue Moon with a more complex spice flavored aftertaste. Delicious!
2.8 A nice and drinkable beer, but it just isn’t quite on par with the real and better wits out there.
2.8 Overall Impression: Solid, pretty standard Belgian White, typical of Saranac.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange body with a white head. Dusty wheat, citrus and coriander with a light lemon apple, its not bad for what it is.
2.6 A boring Belgian White with very little taste of citrus and coriander. Nothing special.
2.6 Nothing really wrong with it; just nothing to it. A kind of spritzy, apply flavor. Pretty thin.
3.1 Impressive aroma of wheat malt, spice (coriander, according to the bottle) and citrus (lemony, not orange peel as the bottle suggests). Very smooth, full, and round. Appropriately cloudy, straw yellow. Disappointing head: not very thick nor very long-lasting. some lace Lots of citrus up front in the flavor. The wheat malt comes through immediately thereafter, then it settles into a predictable sourness. Full bodied (probably from the oats) and chewy with excellent carbonation (very fine and plentiful bubbles). Overall, I like this beer because it is refreshing, smooth, and not overly tart (as are some Belgians).
2.4 Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Doesn’t look like any wit I’ve ever seen... doesn’t smell or taste like one either. Mostly nondescript aroma and flavor - barely perceptible yeastiness with only a rumor of honey. Perfectly-balanced, but thin and bland. Inoffensive, but so is seltzer water. Light to medium-bodied with tickling carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. No spices; no fruit peels; no esters; no phenols. Nothing Belgian or wit-like about this one. The perfect beer if you’re into “not quite” or “why bother?”
2.5 Hazy golden wit with a thin creamy white head. Fresh sweet fruity aroma, like a tequila sunrise. Sweet oxidized malt with not much character, rather thin. Tasted Spring 2006.
3.0 Bottle. Light cookie note for the malt, moderate perfume for the hops, light soap for the yeast with hints of grape pear and white wine. Head is small, fizzy, white with fair lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is slightly hazy amber/tan. Flavor starts moderately acidic and finishes moderately acidic, lightly bitter and sour. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a lively to fizzy carbonation. A nice light and perfumey version of a Belgian Witbier.
2.5 Dusty, grainy, yeasty aroma. Appearance is golden in color, thin head, particulate matter clearly visible. Flavor is slightly citrusy, spicy, mainly coriander, but is not particularly strong. The finish is very light, mainly a faint sign of hops. Ok for what it is.
2.9 Bottle poured into English pint. Hazy amber with lots of bubbles but oddly very little head. Citrusy aroma with some spice behind it. Taste is similar- orangey with some spice in the background. pretty light palate. Nothing to write home about-definitely not a great Belgian White, but you could do worse for a drinkable summer beer.
3.0 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Hazy golden pour with descent white head that fades fast and leaves no lace, unfortunately. nice refreshing wheat aroma with some clove and ginger notes - very soft aroma but nice. Taste is also refreshing and enjoyable, though very simple and very soft - same notes as flavor, with a bit of orange on the finish also. No alcohol presence in flavor. Light on the palate with the right amount of carbonation, highly drinkable. Overall: solid brew, nothing wrong with it, but could definitely be a bit more outgoing. Nice for the summer.
2.9 Lemony orange body... mild effervescence and slightly opaque apprearance... soapy-sudsy head settles nicely into a one-finger white cloud--a good start... bright perfumy initial smell with clove and lemon zest arriving on second inspection... fresh hay scents as well--little hop, zero malt here... medium-bodied, moderately fizzy palate... tickles the teeth with a light soda mouthfeel... little aftertaste... a fizzy, fruity combination tat refreshes, but as a wit has a strange berry finish, almost like pomegranate from the sampler (is this the spice? coriander?)... the beer arrives as an italian soda...and I’m not interested in fruit beers unless they wear the fruit on their sleeves--a bit of licourice and apple late (?) don’t constitute complexity to me...
2.1 12 oz. bottle. Slightly hazy orange with almost no head. Yeast aroma with a candy-like sweetness. Flavor is pretty much the same. Little spice is evident. Watery.
2.7 Not too impressed with this one. A little lacking in the flavor category. Poured a hazy gold/orange color with a small head. Not much aroma. No citrus, just a yeasty smell. Flavor is bland. Not a bad beer to have on a hot summer day, but far from a good Belgian White.
1.8 bottle: Substandard wheat beer with almost no flavour. Need some more citrus notes on this one to take notice.
3.1 Pours a hazy brown orange color with a quickly fading head. Aroma doesn’t overwelm me but there is a nice sweet citrusy flavor with some nice fizz. Nice relaxing brew.
2.1 Poured a weak hazy yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was very weak and hardly detectable of anything. Flavor had a bit more to it, hints of citrus fruits and some spices, mainly coriander.
2.8 A nice pick from the summer pack. As it was being poured from bottle to glass it had the hazy white color but as it collected int he glass a clearer yellow appearance was found, with a very small head. The aroma was different in that when first smelled i got the lemon zestiness and even some blackberry smell. But a minute into drinking that was taken over by wheat. The taste was simular when it began sweet for a second but finished with a light hoppy spice.
3.4 This is a very good effort in my opinion. This is a good refreshing summer beer and they don’t sacrifice the belgian taste.
2.7 The aroma is an odd combination of sun tan lotion, citrus, coriander, wheat, and fruit. The appearance is hazy gold with a small head and lots of floating particles. The flavor is like the aroma (don’t know what sun tan lotion tastes like). The palate is thin. Overall it’s OK.
2.3 "Seasoned ever so lightly" from the commercial description is right. Watery, weak and boring. Maybe it might make a good intro to the style for some people. Me, I’d rather drink a Hoegaarden. Or for that matter, I’d even rather drink a Blue Moon Belgian White. Both are better than this weak-kneed brew.
3.0 Bottle. Pours hazy yellow/brown with a white head. Lemony aroma, with grain and a bit of spice. Medium body. Flavor has lemony citrus notes, as well as nutmeg and wheat. Not bad.
3.0 Light malt and coriander aroma. Cloudy orange color with some white foam. Some malt in the beginning with a moderate amount of coriander that fades in the finish. Slightly stick palate.
3.1 I’m not a huge fan of belgian styles but this beer was pretty good. Aroma isn’t anything special. Citrusy, light flavor that would have been a lot better with some added spiciness.
2.8 wow as far as flavor goes, i can tell little difference from this and the pom. wheat beer. doesnt really look like what i have come to expect from wits, but oh well. flavor has some spice to it but not much.
2.9 Pours cloudy with off-white color. Nose is banana and citrus. Mouthfeel is soft. Tastes like a white should taste but doesn’t stand out in the style.
2.8 A boring example of a great style. This is very easy to drink, but lacking in the flavor department. Aroma was weak. Light spices and clove with nothing else. Pour was a darker gold than I was expecting with a one finger off white head. Taste was very thin. Hints of coriander and lemon are present but hard to find. Decent carbonation. On par with this breweries beers.
