2.3 Cloudy golden hay color with a thin head. Nice lacing. Unimpresive light sweet aroma. Flavor is mostly sweet, maybe fruity but that could just be in my mind from the name.
3.7 Draft at Ølfestival 2011: crystal clear with no head, quite malty nose with lemon and elma chai and some sweetnes Some length and body Taste is elma chai and wheat. ver very special beer, but i like it
3.3 Bottle. Hazy golden pour, thin white head. Aroma is mostly absent, but slightly fruity. Flavor is refreshing simple fruity and light, yet a bit boring. Still a decent simple and very drinkable brew.
2.8 Brown yellow beer with a weak and blond head. Aroma is malty, toffeeish, red berries and slightly mustyness and woodyness. Taste is quite light, red berries and woodyness. Quite light to drink, but not watery. Quite boring beer without personality, now too bitter style like beer without nuancees, where are the aromas what the name promises?
3.6 Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Drunk in the sun by a canal, happy to be out of the UK for the royal wedding. This ended up being a lot better than anticipated. The Pomegrante aspect is refreshing and quite light. Some slight tartness towards the finish. A perfectly decent thirst quenching hot day guzzler. Possibly a little harshly treated on here.
2.4 Botle from Bierzwerg, Cologne.Pours hazy golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity. Medium and body. Taste is sweet fruity, nothing special about this one, boring
2.9 Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival-09.Pours yellow with a white head.Aroma of subdued citrus, some grass , dusty and bready malt.Flavor is sweet and fruity with some malt and grains with a hint of cardboard.Somewhat nice.
3.3 on draft at the brewery, golden color with a white head. nice fruity taste and very drinkable.
3.1 bottled. Golden coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Aroma of fruits, light spice, some sweetnessqw. Flavour of fruits and sweetness and some grape. Medium bodied. Is sweet and dry in the end.
2.6 Hazy amber/gold color; Light to medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast/wheat, & fruit; Flavor of sweet malt, apples, citrus, and some grain; Decent overall.
3.2 A - Pours a cloudy bright amber-orange color with a some nice white head (finger and a half) the had decent retention and some lacing left behind. S - The major aroma is the wheat smell. There is also a nice fruitiness to the aroma, that had some pomegranate and some touches of citrus mixed in. T - The taste starts off like a traditional wheat beer, then the sweetness of the pomegranates joins in. There is also a bit of citrus that mixes in towards the end, and the aftertaste is just a tad sweet and bitter. M - Light to medium bodied, with a nice amount of carbonation that keeps the beer feeling very crisp. D - Very drinkable beer. The overall mix of fruit flavors on top of the wheat beer is fairly well balanced and the beer overall is pretty refreshing.
3.4 Pale yellow with a faint reddish tint. Bubbly, sweet (not too sweet), fruity, and tart. Light bodied. Great summer beer.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Faint aroma of wheat and some light fruit. Flavor was sweet and fruity with wheat, grains and a touch of citrus.
2.8 Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Hazy orangeish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, mildwheat, some bananas as well as mild spicyness. Flavour is a lot of fruits, some wheat, mild bananas as well as some slight spicy and herbal notes. Refreshing.
2.8 Can taste the pomegranate and general fruit flavors to it. Not bad, Saranac did decent.
3.6 Poured from a 12oz bottle a hazy golden with a small white head that adds some lacing around the glass. Aroma is of bread, apple and dark fruits. Flavor is light bodied and refreshing. The pomegranate flavor is subtle and natural tasing unlike many other fruit beers with a fruit concentrate flavor. The finish is very nice accompanied with a malty finish.
1.9 24-Sep-10 (12-oz bottle, Bottled on 15-Mar-10: Purchased 17-Sep-10 at BevMo in Solana Beach, CA) Beer #3 of the "12 Beers of Summer" 12 pack, Pomegranate Wheat, is mediocre right out of the gate. It pours cloudy orange with a thin white head that settles very quickly to a ring. The nose is bready, cardboardy and cheesy, with a hint of berry fruit and is not the least bit enticing. Bready malt and very gently grassy hops are balanced initially on the palate by modest amounts of tart berry flavor, but once the fruit fades off the palate, only the cardboardy wheat base remains. The beer doesn’t taste all that great to begin with, but the aftertaste is stale and heavy just like the previous two beers in this variety pack. Not going to finish this bottle either. (12-oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Otter, thanks Jeremy!) I wasn’t expecting anything even approaching mediocrity here, but it’s actually not a terrible beer. The bready wheat malt is reasonably balanced by a prominent, mildly tart berry flavor. Mostly bready malt nose with a background of sweet-smelling berry fruit. Light-medium in weight with ample carbonation. The much-needed acidity hits early, but fades in the finish, so the beer isn’t as refreshing as it could be. And the beer begins to break down as it warms, the acidity continuing to fall away, leaving the bready wheatiness to its own devices. I suppose this is as close as Saranac might come to a sour beer! Yeah, it’s not very good, but it could be a lot worse. (4, 3, 4, 3, 8 = 2.2)
3.4 Mild hefe with milder pomegranite flavor. It was just a hint, but gives a natural taste instead cups of sugar dumped into a batch of beer. It was good though. Not overpowering, easy to drink, good allaround beer that can be enjoyed over and over instead of getting old with a novelty overly suagry/fruity taste. Have one.
2.4 355 ml bottle. From bierzwerg.de. Cloudy orange colour with tiny off-white head. Yeast and some fruitiness in aroma. Apple, fruits and yeast. Very yeasty indeed. Not very interesting after all.
2.1 Hazy amber - orange color. Very small frothy head gone in a minute. Very weak nose. Slight malt with flaws ( meat broth or gravy ). Body is light with fizzy carbonation. Flavor profile is sweet initially with some tart pomegranate coming through in the middle leading to a quick and sweet finish. One is enough.
3.4 Pours hazy gold with weak white head. The meek aroma struggles to offer up faint notes of vague fruitiness and malty sweetness and really nothing else. The taste is smooth at first with sweet malts and wheat and then slowly giving ground to pomegranate fruit juices with a carbonation enhanced tingle. It ends with faint floral hops peaking through. I enjoy the balance between malt, wheat and fruit. Better experience than I was expecting.
2.8 355 ml bottle from Voldby. Hazy golden with medium off-white head. Flavour is malt, wheat, fruit, citrus, dry and hops.
2.6 This fruit beer poured a light yellow, slightly yellow colour with a quickly living head. To the nose there are scents of dough, gravy, citrus and hay? First sip’s mouhtfeel was slightly thin with flavours of cinnamon and citrus hops. Finish is thin and a little sweet with a finite bitter hop flavour trying to come through.
2.6 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a small white head. Has a fruity slightly wheaty pomegranate aroma. Sweetish fruity wheaty flavor with some citrus hints and hints of pomegranate. Has a sweetish wheat malty citrus finish.
2.5 (bottle, 35.5cl) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a dense mid-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet and a bit dusty bready malty aroma with a touch of wheat and shy fruity notes. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a rather soft carbonation for a Weizen. Malty, slightly bready and milky taste with a light to moderate wheat-character and late arriving fruity accents; sweet and mildly bitter finish with a more or less present fruity touch. Not overly convincing. 25.X.10
2.5 355mL bottle. Sweet summer fruit and berry aroma. Lightly sour from wheat. Easy drinking. Fruity sweet flavours.
2.5 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy orangey gold with a medium white head. Aroma wasn’t particularly pomegranate to me -- just a generic fruitiness, maybe apple? Some wheat and tartness in there too. Flavor follows aroma. Quaffable, refreshing, not terribly distinctive, but worth drinking.
3.0 A: straight pint. nice orangish-yellow color that is very opaque. nice white head on top with a good retention rate. S: very wheaty aroma. some fruit in there but not pomegranate to me. very yeasty. T: wow, its like a fruit punch wheat beer. a hint of pomegranate but some good citrus qualities from the wheat. nice flavor. M: not too heavy, but it is a little thicker than normal. good body. nice smooth carbonation level. D: not my style, but a nice fruit wheat beer nonetheless. good summer brew.
1.6 Tap at Hose 22 - Had a little weight behind it, some strength in flavor. Still mild.
2.7 Drank from the bottle. This beer has a light pomegranate smell but it isn’t too heavy. Unfortunately, the pomegranate does not come through in the taste very well. This beer had a lot of potential, but was nothing but lackluster. Palate is mostly wheaty. Nothing too great here but it wasn’t awful either.
