3.0 Dark amber-reddish, cloudy, small off white head. Aroma is syrupy sweet fruits, pumpkin, metallic, spice mix. Taste is moderate to strong sweet caramel, candy, fruit, syrupy pumpkin, again metallic notes and spices-cinnamon. Medium- bodied and carbonation.
3.3 Not very heavy. Balanced spices. Good for a pumpkin/harvest. Not a lot of mouth feel and the aroma was a little weak. Bottle.
2.6 Bottle @ home. Ambrata, limpida, schiuma beige chiaro, molto fine piuttosto persistente. aroma speziato, cannella e vaniglia, zucca , caramello, malto, amaro Montenegro.
3.4 bottle arancio ramata schiuma media non molto persistente zucca cannella spezie incenso torrone lieve banana abbastanza secca tutto sommato
2.7 Athens, Ga. - Five Points Bottle Shop - Atlanta Hwy. - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, slightly murky, bubbly white head. Aroma has some sugary sweet artificial pumpkin spice notes, a bit of cloves. Flavor has pumpkin spice accents, some brown sugar sweetness, some ripening vegetable funkiness. Mouthfeel has a pasty essence to it, Oh well, only paid $0.79 for it.
2.4 Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Tom L. Pours yellow with a small head, aroma of pumpkin, spices, malt, flavor of pumpkin, malt, unpleasant acidity, light bodied.
3.5 Bottle at home. Pours amber, nose is pumpkin, caramel, vanilla, taste is similar, light spices.
3.1 Bottle sample at a tasting at our place. Thanks Tom L. Clear bronze, white ring. Clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin aroma, bitter alcoholic taste with a layer of sweetness. Light body, pumpkin finish, smooth texture.
3.0 *Old rating. 2010. The beer is spicy, malty-fresh, slightly sweetish and not too pumpkin-like. Interesting, but a bit strange...
2.4 Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear amber. Sweet aroma with caramel, winter spices and a bit of honey. Sweet caramelly flavor with spices. Medium-bodied.
2.9 Bottle sample at tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Clear light copper with small off-white head. Sweet aroma, spicy, fruity (apricot, peach), candy, clove and caramel notes. Medium sweet flavor, fruity (banana, peach), spicy, date honey notes, black paper, clove, some herbs, light sourness, semi-dry finish. Light carbonation, light to medium-bodied.
2.2 Pours from a bottle a nice amber with a thin white head with large bubbles. Nose is heavy spice, not much pumpkin, lots of allspice and cloves. Flavor is again light on pumpkin and with rather off-tasting spices. Finish is bitter, unpleasantly so. Meh.
2.5 It pours a orange amber color. The head leads lacing on the side with large bubbles as part of the head. It has the smell of pumpkin, a bit of all spice, and a bit of cinnamon. It has a pumpkin taste with a bit of cinnamon. The taste is not overly strong, but is decent. It has a bit more carbonation which tingles on the palate.
3.3 Bottle from CBB in November 2012, rated from notes. A brownish amber pour for a nice mildly spiced ale. But I couldn’t detect any pumpkin flavor.
2.7 Middle of the road pumpkin ale, if you asked me. Subtle spices. Easy drinking beer.
3.2 Bouteille du mix-pack d’automne. Une robe cuivrée avec une mousse beige. Un nez épicé classique avec une touche de grain. Une bouche épicée avec du pain mouillé. Correct.
2.1 This beer has a reddish gold appearance. The aroma is not the best on the nose and the taste is just ok.
3.2 1 quart bottle from Bevmo, Salinas. Nose is light pumpkin, nutmeg, and caramel malt. Clear amber with a medium off white head. Flavor is light pumpkin spices and sweetness.
2.5 Nice color, aroma wasn't particularly indicative of anything, but tasted okay.
2.6 Pretty milquetoast affair, from its innocuous pumpkin notes to its unimpressive array of spice. The body is pretty thin and nondescript, despite the pleasant nose. This Saranac offering feels like an obligatory and half-hearted brew, aimed at a quick cash grab.
1.9 Poured from a bottle. Of all of the pumpkin beers I’ve tried, this is the most recent. Aroma is bland, but the taste is bitter and reminds me of all of the worst parts of fall.
2.8 Easily one of my least favorite pumpkins! Ok bubbly amber pour w/ a thin white head & little lacing. The aroma is more malt than anything but there is a very faint pumpkin undertone. The taste is acidic w/out much spice or flavor at all coming through. Pretty poorly done!
3.2 "pours dark amber color. a bit lighter than Smuttynose and Post Road in the head to head. like a pumpkin spiced cream ale. well balanced, maybe slightly above average."
2.3 amber color; pumkin aroma; bitter pumpkin flavor with cinnamon notes; not as overpowering as many pumkin beers tend to be, but still not one Id prefer to drink
1.6 Pumpkin spice aromas are low. Color is a dark orange with a white head with poor retention. Flavor has an oxidized paper taste with a low level of spicing and hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is watery with an astringency on the end and medium low carbonation. Overall, the recipe needs to be adjusted and there needs to be more quality control. I wouldn't recommend this beer.
2.8 An ok pumpkin, a bit boring. Pours a clear red with quickly dissipating head. Smells good, pumpkin and spices and cinnamon. Taste is lacking however, a bit of pumpkin at the start, but a very empty finish. Had in the bottle.
3.4 Cute little quart jug from Bev-Mo in Folsom, CA. Pours copper with a foamy beige head. Aroma is pie spice as advertised. Med minus body. It’s a little lacking body wise, but the spice is good, and that makes the beer seem more substantial. Easy drinker.
2.4 bottle @ Chief Market / Lima OH --- Clear, still, dark amber, thin ivory rim head, a few dots of lace that slide back in. Taste is malt that adds pumpkin spice in the palate. The finish needs some bitter or a fizzy edge, something to keep it from drifting aimlessly. A drinkable brew, but weak and unbalanced, especially in the finish.
3.4 32 ounce Saranac howler. Glass: Dogfish Head pub glass. Appearance: A large and dense light tan head sits on a clear amber body. Aroma: Mild aroma with a light sweetness and a bit of spice. Cinnamon, caramel and vanilla come to mind. Taste: The flavor is similar to the aroma, mild with a hint of sweetness and subtle spices. Mild slightly malty intro with a dash of cinnamon, pumpkin and vanilla by the finish. Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated. Overall: Not a bad pumpkin beer by any means, a bit mild but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I won’t buy this again, but it’s worth a drink.
