3.0 Can from lowcostbeer. Pours near black, small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice, lactose, strawberry confectionary. Taste is quite sweet at first with the ice cream flavourings coming through, particularly chocolate and strawberry. A little artificial. Quite a roasty and coffee noted bitter finish. Mixed.
3.6 Nice lactose stout with strong ice cream flavours. Quite sweet
3.7 Bottle, 6.0%. Mild chocolate aroma. Almost black colour, seems clear. Very small brown head. The flavour is sweet with a good berry note and a late note of liquorice powder. It takes a very long time for me to taste the vanilla as something else than just sweetness, but I get it in the aftertaste.
3.8 Can. Pours cloudy dark brown with airy light tan head. Clear aroma of strawberries, malt and yeast, with touches of chocolate. Sweetish flavour of said ingredients, with bitter, roasty notes of hops and coffee. Bitter, roasty aftertaste with touches of ice cream. A very nice one. Yummy. And just as a live as the ghost editi´on.
3.3 12oz can shared by Headbanger with BeerandBlues2. Color is black with mellow carbonation and small tan head. Aroma of mild roasted malt, vanilla and a bit of strawberry. it has a bolder medium body with a smooth rich mouthfeel. Flavor comes in with roasted malt that seems to give a bit of chocolate and a sweet vanilla note this is backed by a faint bitterness. In the aftertaste a hint of strawberry comes in with a bit more bitterness leaving it with a slightly dry feel. Overall its an interesting brew.
3.9 Sample from can, rich deep brown with little head, aromas of coffee, molasses, a little choc and vanilla, then creamy vanilla, a hint of red fruit, more coffee, a touch of toffee, very nice.
3.5 Can thanks to MrsSHIG: Poured a deep black with a finger high creamy light brown head. Aroma is strawberry, chocolate, malty, fruits dominate. Taste is rich malts, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, some artificialness in the finish.
3.5 Can shared by Headbanger. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention. Moderate dark chocolate, strawberries, and vanilla, rich malt, and a medium dry finish. Medium-full body and medium carbonation.
4.3 Good head dissipates rather quickly. Nice to palate -not too sweet. Exits fairly dry. Would buy again
3.9 Can from Beer 52 – as part of a “New York” box ! Nose has sweet fruits – presumably strawberry, but the chewy sweet kind, not the actual fruit. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small and transient beige head. In the mouth it’s a lucky dip. Sometimes you get intense dark chocolate, sometimes you get strawberry sweetness. The vanilla is a little harder to pin down until you realise it is what is causing the creamy texture. I really like this beer – but would only drink it on an occasional basis.
3.1 Twelve ounce can. They nail the theme. You definitely taste the e strawberries and chocolate. Pours an ebony color with a nice head that lasts. A very nice looking beer. I would like to have this on tap, but I don't think that I would by a case, or a six pack.
3.6 0,33l plechovkové z českého pivního eshopu americanbeer.cz. Hodně příjemný stoutík, možná jediné co mi vadilo byla trošku chemická jahoda v dozvuku.
3.8 On tap at 909 Public House. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of strawberries and chocolate. The taste was similar to the aroma with more strawberries, chocolate, roast, malts, vanilla with medium carbonation and a nice chewy aftertaste. Good stuff.
2.6 I don't like how the flavors of neapolitan ice cream are all mixed here. I get some strawberry and maybe chocolate and vanilla notes, but all together it is kinda sweet, a bit sour, but all around not good.
3.4 Black with a tan head, strawberry and vanilla aroma meduim to full body, sweet vanilla, chocolate, strawberry flavours with a dark berries finish
3.1 Can. Black body with a thin beige head that fades. Patchy lacing. Aroma of strawberry lacing and vanilla essence. Flavour of the strawberry chocolate Quality Street and full cream. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Sugary sweet. One can was plenty.
3.0 Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of strawberries with a hint of vanilla. The vanilla also comes through rather strong in the flavor which nicely complements the chocolate. Medium/full body with a lingering bitterness. Drink this one while it's nice and cold. The trio of flavors are just about the only thing present in this brew but it's still not bad.
3.7 Rocky light brown head stayed on a dark brown still body. Malt, confectionery & candy aroma. Medium bodied, soft over the tongue with a tickle on the back. Malt, lactose sugar, Neapolitan ice cream & syrup tastes with a bitter tangy finish. Unusual & very tasty.
3.4 Bottled, 355ml from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Very dark brown with cream head. Sweet ice cream vanilla flavours from the off with this, chocolate and a light fruity flavour, could be strawberry, could be anything. The sweetness lingers throughout, lactose, full on the palate. It's fine.
4.0 AR: Erdbeere, Vanille, Kakao, Schokolade, blumig, Milch AP: klares schwarz(braun) TA: Erdbeere, Vanille, Bitterschokolade
3.1 Pours dark brown with beige head Aroma: malt, vanilla, caramel Taste: malt, cream, hints of vanilla and caramel
3.5 12 oz bottle poured at home. Pours almost black. Smells a lot like Neapolitan ice cream, specifically strawberries, vanilla, lactose and some malt. Taste is malt forward with a sweet berry like finish. It’s a little overpowering for me but it’s okay.
3.7 12oz bottle at my hotel room bought at the Bottleshop, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. BB 08/08/2020. black color, very small dark coffee colored head. smells berry notes, licorice, marzipan, lactose, bit fugdy, vanilla. lovely smell. full body, soft carbonation. tastes earthy, maripan, some vanilla, nutty, hazelnuts, earthy, some licorice, lactose, some cappuccino notes. finishes lightly roasty bitter with notes of berry notes, hazelnuts and some vanilla notes. quite good one, vanilla is subtle, balance is good, nice fudgy and nutty notes. good stuff
3.5 On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., nitro dispensed to a shaker displaying a darkest brown color, with some amber highlighting, creamy persistence to the substantial tan head froth, and a clinging coat of foam to the lacing. The nose was roasted, and actual Neapolitan ice cream characteristics as chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. Medium bodied, with typically fading, nitro induced effervescence, the taste was similar, but a little less expressive notes, and even a bit watery, retaining some of the creaminess, adding subtle coffee, roasted & earthy bitterness, with a touch of baker's chocolate dryness to the finish. Entertaining, but needed better follow through with the flavor and mouthfeel.
3.9 Bottle sample at the Holiday Beer Fest at Crescent Moon. Poured black with a tan head. Aroma of strawberry, chocolate. Taste was sweet, strawberry, berry, chocolate, creamy mouthfeel.
4.5 Black pour. Sweet vanilla aroma. Sweet with vanilla, chocolate, and toffee flavors. Strawberry as it warms, toffee goes away. Excellent beer. Let it warm up for a different flavor.
3.3 Nice aroma of chocolate and some sweet malt. Ebony color with a tan head. Sweet up front. Lots of chocolate, hints of vanilla and coffee. Earthy bitterness at the end. Good.
3.9 12 oz. can. Canned 08/02/19. Pours a medium, well retained beige head, with moderate lacing, over a clear very dark brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is roasted malts with cocoa, chocolate notes, vanilla, strawberry fruit tones, minimal malt notes......taste is roasted malt with chocolate, others are strawberry, vanilla, light sweet tones, slight milk notes.....mouth feel, medium creamy body, slight alcohol, moderate carbonation. this meets the stated style very cleverly and well, with the result of an interesting and easily drinkable beer.
4.0 Where: Bottle at home With: M Color: Opaque black Head: medium, white Aroma: Chocolate and strawberries Taste: You really get all 3 flavors in the taste. Strawberry to start with a chocolate middle. All finished by a creamy vanilla lactose flavor. Sweet but not too sweet. Great beer. Overall: 4/5
4.1 12 ounce can from Woodman's Appleton, 9/2/19. Ah, entered 2011? I see Saugatuck was making pastry stouts MANY years before it was cool. I guess this is technically a milk stout, but it still goes to show all these fucking dessert stouts ain't a cutting edge thing. Anyways, onto the beer Black, large foamy dark tan head (brown I guess). Good retention. Aroma of strawberries, lactose, mild roast. Taste is roast, lactose, chocolate, coffee, berries, tobacco. Medium bodied, low carb, mild bitterness but decent balance. Seems like a nice stout overall and the adjuncts don't detract. Overall quite a nice beer.
