Saugatuck Singapore IPA

Saugatuck Singapore IPA

An Intensely aromatic IPA crafted with multiple hop varieties. Singapore IPA utilizes a full malt body which complements the hop bitterness leading to crisp and refreshing citrus flavor with a slight hint of pine. Named after the legendary Lake Michigan ghost town of Singapore, formerly located near Saugatuck, this once thriving lumber town was gradually buried by dune erosion in the late 1880’s. 16.2°

2.8 Tap at the Taphouse. Clear amber, golden cream. Light candy corn, phenolic, slightly cheesy hop aroma. Sticky medium body. Earthy, dusty melanoidin malt base, some turpentine, Very dry metallic grassy, nettles, not very harmonious.
3.5 Aroma is resin toffee some tropic fruit canned peach and a hint of stibky socks. Taste is sweet toffee and some bonbon with a fresh sour hinge and a doughy body. Quite tasty actually. MEdium heavy. Drinkable despite the resin character. Surprising.
3.6 Bottle, 330 ml, courtesy of Max. Shared with him and JFK10000. Cloudy golden, small white head. Strong bitterness in finish, dry, citrus, some caramel, sweetish, medium bodied.
3.4 Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced online via Beergium. Pours mostly clear orange-gold with a creamy, white head. Sun-kissed pale malts in the aroma, some ripening citrus fruits, piney hops, a little caramel. Medium sweet flavour, fairly bread, with mild piney bitterness, gooey orange. Medium bodied, lightly oily, with fine to average carbonation. Somewhat resinous in the finish, with more pale bread, biscuits, pine and rind, some grass, more ripening citrus. Not bad. A little old school perhaps. But not bad.
3.8 12 ounce bottle from the sampler case purchased at Liberty Beer in Pittsburgh. It was just okay, nothing out of the unusual realm of the norm.
3.4 From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Aroma is biscuity malt and mild fruity hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Simple IPA, no hop bomb, but pleasant and easy fare.
3.4 Bottle. Amber coloured beer with a strong frothy white head. The aroma is hopped with a little yeastiness. The flavour is very bitter with a long dry finish, some yeastiness and roastedness and gentle floral notes. Overall a nice strongly hopped IPA.
3.1 0.3 bottle. Pours hazy golden color with medium, mostly lasting white head. Aroma of drugs, grass, malts. Flavor is medium to high bitter, light sweet. Hoppy. Finish is long, bitter and malty in the same time. Medium body, medium body particles, average carbonation.

3.7 Bottle from Wegman's. Pours turbid golden with fluffy, white head. Nose is resiny hops, florals, orange marmalade. Tastes hoppy, floral, resiny, somewhat sweet, with citrus, pine, mango, tangerine. Solid IPA.
3.8 I thought it was pretty decent basic ipa with a strong citrus taste.
3.8 Bottle from GBBF 2017 and drunk at home. Hazy golden amber colour lasting off white head. Hoppy resiny aroma. Good mouthfeel. Hoppy. Resin. Piney. A little bitter on the finish. Some sweetness. No toffee or caramel. Just a rather good IPA. I liked it and it lasted maybe 5 minutes. Fresh. Good hops on finish. Nice lasting finish.
3.4 Gezapft bei Brewdog in Berlin. Klares Bernstein, grosskörniger Schaum. Aroma: Maracuja, etwas Mango, etwas Karamell, gewisse Schärfe Geschmack: leichte Malzsüsse, Zitrus, Frucht, Grass am Ende. Bitter.
3.1 Gushed orange from the bottle and leaves a frothy, white head. Aroma is citrus, caramel, light rubbery notes. Goes down dry, but sweeter than average for the style, with noticeable caramel and honey. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Overall okay, but felt a touch stale. Could not find an expiration date anywhere on the bottle.
3.5 Pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Edmonton pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a finger of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is grapefruit and pine with hints of caramel. Taste is a citrus and pine hop bitterness with a light fruity and malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a hop forward IPA that is quite tasty. Recommended.
3.4 Bottle 35.5cl. poured into a stem lager glass. Hoppy nose; slightly unclear deep golden, mid-sized frothy off-white head, half-way lasting, fair lacing; aroma malts, grain, orange, pine, apricot; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, fruity, pine; dry bittersweet aftertaste, fruity notes, chalky bitterness in the finish; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation; okay IPA, well-made.
3.4 12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. aroma of citrus, caramel and pine. Taste is citrus, caramel, and grass
2.8 An average IPA. Aroma was alright. Light pine notes with notes of orange and grapefruit. Pour was a hazy medium light gold with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was about the same as the aroma. Grapefruit, pine and some window cleaner in there. Decent carbonation. This style is so convoluted it’s hard to brew a standout any more so nothing against the brewer.
3.9 Schönes bernsteinfarbenes bier ordentlicher schaum, im geruch fruchtig trockenfrüchte leicht harzig etwas käse, im Geschmack klassisch pinie harzig fruchtig kräftig herb, schönes ipa
3.7 12oz Flasche. Dunkel gelbes Bier, schöner feiner Schaum. Harziger Duft. Mandel, Aprikose. Kräuterbitterer Antrunk. Pinienharz. Mandel und Frucht. Klassischer IPA Geschmack. Langer abgang.
3.4 Bottle. One year old. Honey, nectar on nose. Fruit hints. Medium to full body. Malty taste with moderate hopping. Light piny bitterness. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.4 Bottle, from dresden. Hazy orange-gold, white head that leaves scant lace. Lightly sweet caramel and orange citrus, creamy mouthfeel, moderately bitter finish. Nice.
3.5 Clear, golden orange colored, medium to small off white head, not too lasting. Aroma is of some malt and caramel, citrus, orange, fruity, some floral hops, mediumish aroma. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, caramel, orange, citrus, floral hops, medium aroma and bitterness, dry finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily. A bit on the sweeter and caramelier side than I’d like but not bad. (bottle, Craft Beer Rising, London)
4.0 Predominantly malty aroma with slight citrus in the background. Brilliant dark orange color with a clingy bright white head. Significant hop punch of 70/30 citrus/pine, just enough malt backbone, crisp hoppy finish. Palate is just bubbly enough; thick for the ABV. Exceedingly drinkable. This was really good; I don’t understand the low ratings.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a fair head and some lacing. Aroma of citrus, bit of grapefruit and grain. taste of citrus, mild malt sweetness and grass. Moderate bitterness and a fairly clean finish. Medium body, not overly hopped. Not bad.
3.1 Pours a clear deep golden yellow with a foamy white head. Light hoppy aroma. Medium body. Smooth with a light dry bitter finish. Some citrus and bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad but not that refreshing.
3.3 Little head and medium lacing. Fresh citrus aroma. Hoppy taste with medium bitter aftertaste.
3.0 Part of a draft sampler--clear, light orange color. Aroma of light hops and malt. Taste was exactly as you expect, but not much on either hops or malts. Mild bitterness finish with some light carbonation. Take it or leave it. Iron Oak Post
3.4 Amber beer with a flowery aroma that doesn’t last long. Nice bitter taste and a full, yet soapy, mouthfeel. Finish a bit flat.
3.0 Pours dark amber. Almost no head. Smells of strong hops. Lots of bitterness right up front, the edge of which fades fairly quickly then hangs around. Not bad, but not really getting much else either, though.
