This light-colored, refreshing ale is THE beer of Cologne. Well balanced and mild mannered, this beer is great for summer.

3.3Clear, golden color. Medium-sized , white head . Aroma of malt , fruits and hay . Malty taste with some hoppy bitterness at the end.
3.1On tap at World of Beer (Charlottesville, VA). Floral aromas, light berry, light grain. Clear orange-gold with a mostly lasting white head. Mostly dry, a little fruity. Light bodied, very clean.
4.0Not the kölsch you’d expect, but they know that, and it’s still a great beer. It finishes with some lemon tartness, salt, and underripe and grassy strawberries: if you’re curious how a warm lager fermentation affects a beer here you go. Darker than usual but clear enough. Not the most refreshing option but a good adventure.
3.5Faint malt aroma with a small lemon bite in the body. Finish is clean with some orange notes.
2.9Hey, another not great beer from Schlafly. Anyone surprised? This one does look nice at least w/ its creamy, big head but aside from that, not much good to say about it. It smells bready and kind of strangely fruity underneath. It does taste pretty clean though, albeit on the heavy and sweet side for the style. Honestly, this is close to be being pretty good but some flaws here and there in an unforgiving style take it down a peg or two.
2.7This pours a golden amber color with a slight white head. The aroma is slightly fruity but also has an awkward grain smell. The taste is smooth, easy drinking but very light and finishes dry on the tongue. Kind of has a cheap straw/grain taste that I’m sure will turn some people off but then again that’s why Kolsch style beers aren’t too popular.
3.3Bottle at this hip new Indian joint in east village. I feel kolsch is nice with curry and there was plenty of curry in the tasting menu I ordered. Fine golden beer with puffy white head. Nose is lightly floral and small hops. Tastes of floral, bread crust, straw, touch of lemon. Easy drinking and refreshing.
3.2Lightly fruity and floral aroma with a crisp and clean, slightly grain forward taste. Pretty nice in style.
3.7Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy, white head. Crispy straw and pale cereal in the aroma. Light sweet flavour with simple white bread, more cereal, light bitter hay. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish, with cereal and biscuits, faint lemon, straw. Solid.
3.6On tap at Bent Rail in Indianapolis. Pours clear copper. Aroma is crisp and carbonated with a touch of German hops. Outstanding kolsch, a bit on the full-bodied side of the kolsch spectrum, maybe but not quite crossing the line into an alt.
3.312 ounce bottle. Bright yellow gold color. Large rocky white head. Faint grainy malt nose.sweet fruity malt flavor. Pears and apples with sweet citrus as well. Crisp and dry in middle. Slight spicy hops in finish.
3.7On tap at Ellyn’s Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL. and dispensed to a brewery logoed Altbier/Kolsch glass showing a clear, medium gold color, with a presentable layer of frothy, white head foam, and wavy, etched-like lacing. The nose was subtle grain, and light estery notes as lemon, pear & apple. Light to medium bodied, with lively carbonation, and an altogether crisp & clean presence. A neglected style that is one of my favorite, sessionable brews. This one doesn’t disappoint.
2.7Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a light note of soap. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Simple, light and watery, and has some rough edges, but ok.
2.8A pretty basic kolsch. It’s like the crips as it should be. Not too much flavor but well balanced.
3.64 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of wheat, citrus, light malt. Tastes of citrus, wheat, light honey. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
2.5Pours a golden yellow whit a white head. Grass, clove, banana aroma. I liked it more than I thought I would. Probably be more enjoyable on a hot day. A b-day gift from L&J, thanks a bunch.
3.5Appearance: Bottled 1/6-2015. Hazy straw, some white head.
Aroma: Fruit, grapefruit?
Taste: Nice fruit and crispness. Spices and some malt. Interesting and easy drinking.
Bought: Total Wine (Sterling), 355 ml, $1.79

2.9Pours clear gold with a thick off white head. Aroma is decidedly German with a bit of skunk. Taste is a tad bitter with a typical Kolsch flavor. Not a bad Kolsch.
3.2Bready, yeasty aroma with some notes of grass. Deeper than expected yellow with a pillowy off white head. Rich malt up front. Somewhat sweet. Notes of bread and sweet corn. Bitterness is mild on the back end, with mild note of pepper and spices. Nice carbonation. Average Kolsch.
3.112 oz. bottle pours a hazy yellow/straw color with small white head. Aroma is grainy but with a bit of lemon. Taste is slightly bitter with an abrupt finish and aftertaste of wheat. Body is light with lively carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. A refreshing summer beer, but nothing too memorable.
2.9Draught. Slightly hazy bright yellow with small white frothy head, fresh malt aroma, high carbonation, thin body, crisp malt taste, abrupt finish. Freshening.
3.3From a bottle. Pours a clear gold with an of white head. Flavors of bread yeast. Smooth clean finish.
2.4Bottle. Aroma is basement aroma with mild resinous hops. Appearance is clear gold with 1 finger-width white foamy head, mild sparkle and no lacing. Taste is medium bitter over mild fruity ester sweetness. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, fair carbonation and bitter finish. Overall, not my cup of tea.
3.9Pours a cloudy straw color. Has a slow forming white head. Some lacing.
Aroma is slightly bready. Pretty heavily fruity/citrusy. Lightly hoppy. It’s a very vibrant aroma.
Taste is hoppy, but it’s light and not too bitter. There’s a touch of lemon. The toasted malt is light, and not on the front.
Mouthfeel is crisp. It’s pretty well carbonated. It’s tasty. It’s drinkable.
Overall, this is excellent. I really like it. It’s somewhat of a medium between an IPA and a lager.
3.512 oz bottle. Golden with small white head. Grain, grass and a touch of fruity sweetness. I enjoyed this one.
2.9Pale golden pour. The aroma is very light. Some subtle fruit and a
little bit of corn-like malt character. Clean ferment (relatively).
Warming intensifies the fruit. Okay - sort of cream ale ish.
3.3Keg pour at Sedgwicks Bar, yellows golden pour with a nice white frothy head. Light in the mouth, taste of malt, not quite toast more like a white bread and it also sticks to your tongue. Nothing wow about it, but nothing you will complain about. Just going around successful and not singled out like a middle class office worker.
2.412oz bottle. Pours golden orange with an off white head. Aroma is of malt and grain. That’s about it. Taste is of malt, wheat, and not much else. There’s not a whole lot to it. Its not offensive, it’s just not much.
2.3ケルシュ
普通だけど酸味がすこしつよめか?
3.5Draft. Yellow with thin white head.Aroma of ale yeast spiciness and hay. Slightly sour yeasty ale with a lemony heavy finish. True to the style and paired nicely with a brat.
