3.7 Cola brown pour with no head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and oats. Rich flavor of roasted malt, oats, and a slight caramel sweetness. Very nice.
3.7 Bottle from Discount. Pours a deep brown to black with a half finger of head that dissipates quickly. Coffee on the nose with cacao nib. Light with a cola-like carbonation. More toasted cacao and coffee on the palate. Smooth. This has a lot of flavor but still light. Solid.
3.5 Opaque black, just a hint of mahogany red around the edges. Minimal head and lacing. Modest espresso aromas, roasted malts, oatmeal and a hint of ash. Malt sweetness hits first, with a sense of hops bitterness that creeps in then goes away. Coffee and chocolate are clear, with a clear oat presence. Medium bodied, no carbonation to speak of, ,silky smooth mouthfeel and the malt sweetness outlasts any hops in the finish.
3.1 Poured from a 12oz bottle. Poured ink black with a thin head. Nose of medium roast coffee. Creamy mouth feel with a nice finish. Hints of bakers chocolate and roasted coffee. Much better than their coffee stout. Cheers!
3.5 A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light figs, dark fruits, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, light coffee grind, musty character, light vanilla extract, a bit thin but overall, still solid after a few years. Bièropholie imports.
3.5 Pours black with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt with sweet caramel, some mineral notes and a roasted finish. Creamy mouthfeel.
3.6 12oz bottle at brunch today. Poured a nearly pitch black color. Small tan head atop it. Aroma was some coffee roast. Oat character. Flavor was some bitter roasted chocolate malts. Flavor was about the same, roasted. Medium-bodied. Easy drinking.
3.6 Pours an opaque midnight brown with a respectable tan head. Aroma is coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet dark roasted malt, espresso, and dark baker’s chocolate. Medium bitterness from the roasted malt is there as well. Pretty decent stout.
3.4 Pours black with a tan head. Mild aroma of roast malt and coffee. The flavor has the roast malt and coffee with some chocolate. A little too carbonated for me.
3.2 Purchased the Schlafly stout sampler. Pour is dark and cola like. Nice thick head. Taste is toasty and mildly bitter. Was not in cooler at store and i prob rushed this one a little
3.5 (Bottle). Pours a brown-black complexion with thick tan head and glass lacing. Aroma of lightly roasted malt. Flavor is well roasted mild malt. Medium body and dry finish. Missing the silky palate oatmeal stouts normally provide.
3.9 Dark brown in color with a mocha colored head. Oatmeal, chocolate, charcoal on the nose. Really smooth.
3.7 its smooth with a bit of grit a touch of alcohol and some roasted bitterness. it has good body and is a bit creamy even. it finishes nice lingering just a bit with some caramel.
4.4 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear dark brown to near black and has a small tan head. The aroma is big on oatmeal with some fruit and coffee in the background. The flavor is roasted malt with hops. A real good beer.
3.8 Bottle, pours far brown with rich tan head. Coffee and yeast to the nose. Chocolate and molasses to taste. Slight bitterness with a little sweetness makes this a good sipping beer.
3.8 4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, light caramel. Tastes of chocolate, roast, caramel. Medium-full body with a dry finish.
3.9 Bottle. Aroma is bready malts and yeasty dough with slight alcohol. Appearance is opaque black with 1 finger-width light brown creamy head with minimal lacing. Taste is moderately sweet with mild bitterness. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin velvety creamy texture, soft carbonation and mild balanced sweet/bitter finish. Overall, a good, straightforward stout without hints of this or that--very good at what it is. Very nice mouth feel.
3.0 オートミールスタウト 酸味が強い、 香ばしい香り 苦味はすき
3.5 12 ounce bottle from a sampler pack. Pours a black body with an inch of tan head that recedes quickly to a rim of froth. The nose is coffee beans, toffee, tobacco, and subtle hops. Flavors include everything in the aroma plus dark fruits like plum and raisin. Lingering aftertaste of black licorice and more coffee. As I sip on this more, some subtle sweetness is emerging. Medium/full carbonation and full body. This lacks the silky mouthfeel common for the style, but overall, it has good flavor and not overwhelming.
3.4 Draft: Roasty, mild cocoa nose. Cola brown, medium tan head. Coffee, roasted malt, slight astringency at midpalate. Cocoa finish. Light body, moderate carbonation. Good oatmeal stout.
3.5 Shared growler poured to snifters, displaying a black/brown hue, with a frothy layer of brownish tan head foam, and waves & thick ribbons of lacing. The nose was malty, moderate roastiness, caramel sweetness, with some interesting hints of dark fruit, and subtle port character. Medium bodied, with carbonation that was probably okay to start, but softened a bit more by transport, the taste was roasted, mocha notes, with a touch of creaminess to the mouthfeel, moderate roasted & earthy bitterness, and an altogether, sessionable nature.
2.4 Tap at Schlafly Bottleworks. Near black with a thin tan ring. Chalky, bittersweet chocolate, root beer and slight earthiness. Tastes lightly sweet, mostly dry. Body is medium heavy with a bubbly feel.
4.0 can definitely smell oatmeal, dark pour, good head retention, tasty but try their pumpkin beer in the fall!! Tastes like pumpkin pie yum yum
3.8 12 pour from room temperature bottle into Spiegelau stout glass. Dark brown to black, opaque, huge tan head. Nose is caramel sweetness, coffee, and oats. Mouthfeel is creamy and moderately carbonated. Taste is interesting. Sweet and very dry. Bitter malts, dark coffee, and raisin. A good stout if you?re looking for roasty and assertive.
4.1 Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate with a little dark fruit like fig or plums. Light lacing in the glass. Palate is medium to light. Taste of coffee and dark fruit. Not to sweet a little more bitter than most stouts. Overall nice beer.
3.5 Tasty sweet stout. This ones smells of armoma of nuts and roasted malts. Looks good and medium dark as a pour into a glass. Ok stout but nothing that really stands out to me and gives it that character.
3.1 Look: pours a dark black. Brown highlights on the edges. Light brown sugar head that fades quickly. Thin lacing. Smell: smells like a chocolatey lager. Oatmeal. Bitter coffee. Taste: coffee. Oatmeal. Bitter coffee. Slight chocolate. Feel: creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth. Medium low carbonation. Overall: easy drinker Very smooth. Too much coffee for me, but still ok. First drank: home 2/19/15 Vintage:
3.9 Pretty nice big aroma of toast biscuit roast and oats. Flavor matches with some plum fruits added. Very silky big mouthfeel good very good brew.
3.6 Average. Aroma is roasted malt with some dark fruit notes. Taste is lots of roasted barley flavor with some faint caramel and raisin notes. Finish is a slightly smooth with very little body--would have like more body...
3.4 Bottle. Nearly black with a tiny tan head. Alcohol, chocolates, and coffee in the nose. Roasted barley - slightly smoky, slightly rubbery. Reminds me a bit of a pinotage in the smokiness/rubberiness (I happen to enjoy a good pinotage, so this is a plus for me).
