Schlafly Summer Lager

Schlafly Summer Lager

A Munich Style Helles. Golden and medium-bodied, it has a fresh noble hop character and lightly toasted malt flavor. This classic summer time lager is made for the warm, lazy days of Summer in America’s heartland.

4.1 12 oz.can. aromas of cereal, light hops and grass. Tastes of malt light hops and cereal grains. This is a beer made for sitting and relaxing. Good Beer. Will have more of this.
3.5 Nice biscut, bread on the nose. Notes of sweet caramel. Nice clear yellow color with a fine white head. Rich sweet caramel malt up front. Not overpowering. Bitterness is dry, with notes of pepper and spice. Refreshing carbonated mouth feel. Flavor is a bit watery but refreshing. Authentic rustic flavor throughout. Very fresh and very refreshing.
4.5 This is an older world lager made palatable to the masses, without the drinker having to wear a shirt with no sleeves. I would like some sharper notes of hops and I am not sure why they only run this during summer, its a better version of the St Louis Lager, AB runs BL year round.
2.9 355ml bottle. This is just a mild, mild lager, nothing really wrong with it, easy to crush, but it lends itself nearly no distinction.
2.4 サマーラガー 柔らかいあまみ、薄い感じ 夏らしい
3.3 Poured a Pale gold. Bit of straw but I got mostly lemons here. Good but not at the price point here.
2.3 I drank a lot of Helles in Germany last month. This would rate much worse than anything we had there. Rather unpleasant beer, missing the hops and malt and with some odd off flavors. Tried again this year, not much better. I made a 2bbl batch of Helles last fall that smoked this one. They need to use high quality German hops and to lager much, much longer.
2.4 Bottle from Schlafly in the STL airport. Clear yellow pour with a big foamy white head. Aroma is noble hops, bready, a hint skunky. Kind of a bland palate with a bland bready taste. Not my style.
2.6 Yellow color with small white head. Tastes a bit like a pretzel on the back end. Not bad for a summer day if you are looking for a light beer but not a go to for me.
3.3 On tap at their place on Locust Street. Pours a clear light yellow with no head. Aroma is bready and doughy. Flavor follows with mild bitterness. Slightly sweet. Nice beer.
2.9 Bottle @ home. Clear pale straw pour with a small white head. Nose is fairly grainy. Some cereal, grass, and a bit of straw. Slightly spicy. Lemon-lime soda in there, too. Flavor is sweet and grainy. A lot of cereal character. Slight cracker and biscuit dough. Some grassy bitterness, mild apple, and a bit of wet straw.
3.1 Without question, not remarkable, but easy to drink. Pours a medium yellow with a thin white that fades quick. Aroma is slight hops as is the taste. Like I said this is non-impressionable, yet enjoyable.
3.1 Pours a medium dark yellow without much of a head. Aromas of slight juicy fruit, hay, grass and grain. Flavors of faint juicy fruit, grain, hay and faint grass. Medium sweet. This has a decent flavor profile that pokes out a bit for the style.
4.0 I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste lemon, crisp, wheat. I thought this was pretty good. I would drink this again.
2.3 Bottle. Clear gold color with a decent head. Taste is straw, hay. Aroma is same
3.1 Clean, crisp, refreshing with a straw yellow color and slight head. Bit of lemon tang and spice from hops. Good summer brew.
3.5 The helles at KC Bier Co is much better, but this one does at least have the characteristic toasted malt flavor. Disappointed in the 4.5% ABV.
2.5 bottle - This gold colored brew has a mild, grainy malt aroma. The flavor has sweet grainy malt and a hint of hops bitterness. It’s light to medium bodied and overall not bad but it’s bland and underwhelming.
2.5 Can, standard pale lager color and head. Aroma reminded me of some of the beer drank at family reunions when I was a kid (60's). Light carbonation, light hops and malt taste. Not bad on a hot summer day. I think I'll have another
3.0 @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma and taste match well. Nearly clear pale gold color, head that drops to an uneven cover, no lace. Taste is missing at the beginning, barely enough malt to detect. As it moves through the palate, it gains in stature, becoming clean malt with a bit of lemon zest and floral hops. All move neatly to a finish that is much better than the opening. Meek and mild, but quaffable.
2.6 Not a bad barley profile. Pours pale gold with OK head and lacing. Light bitterffinish. On gold at pizzeria paradiso.
2.6 Golden urine appearance. Aroma of pungent fruit and candy. Light taste, of hay and lemons. Very smooth.
3.4 Golden color with a white head. Aroma is very floral with some citrus and grassy notes. The flavor is somewhat malty with some citrus and cereal going on. Overall a great summer beer.
1.8 this is alot like sam adams summer lager makes me wonder a little over all its about the same to me the taste is some what wheaty not one of their best as i find out they just renamed this beer to summer lager so not so impressed with this drinkable yes but far from a fan fave
4.0 Bottle. Refreshing. Pours crystal clear with a little golden color. Nose and flavor is slightly lemon. Nice summer beer.
2.4 Really good on a hot day in a pool but other than that pretty unforgettable. Will do in a pinch.
4.1 Good lacing and clear gold color. No aroma and a nutty light flavor. Easy beer to drink on a hot summer day.
3.1 Pours a deep golden color with a malty backbone with some noble hops and grass.
3.7 Light on the palate, medium bodied, with a refreshing carbonated crispness that’s perfect in the summer.
3.0 Pours a clear golden color with a one-finger bright white head and leaves a tiny bit of lacing that immediately slides back down into the beer. Aroma is pretty light. Picking up a bit of lemon, ginger, orange, cloves and cereal. Taste is bolder than the aroma would have you believe. Citrusy up front with lemon and clove and a nice strong cereal and biscuity/white bread malt base. Getting a decent amount a caramel here too. A bit of black pepper and a good grassy/floral hop bitterness coming in underneath it. Very crisp and fairly light body. Thin texture, higher average to moderately high carbonation, and a quick but tasty finish of caramel and wheat. Very, very drinkable! Definitely refreshing and an excellent choice for a session beer on a hot summer day or night.
