3.2 Bottle. Clear, hazelnut brown color, fine brown head. Metallic, light floral and malty aroma. Dry taste, high bitterness. Moderate malty, light herbal, floral aftertaste. Full body, medium carbonation. Good exame of an Altbier.
3.6 This is the quintessential beer for the style. Crisp, super dry, yet malty, but a sharp body, mild bitterness that us balanced. Very clean. Like an amber lager but dried out. Graeff hamburg
3.3 Cherry-colored, clear, good carbonation. Aroma of black fruits, roasted malt and a bit of coffee. Taste is bitter-sweet, plums, raisins, roasted malt and a bit of caramel. Bitter finish.
4.2 The Dark Destroyer. Real darky bittery impact yet keeps a smooth run down the old gullet. Surprisingly great.
2.8 Optisch Kupfer, in der Nase kaum auszumachen, im Trunk spritzig, süß, crispy, Trauben, dann malzig, hinten recht schwach. Trotzdem prima Bierchen.
2.5 AR: malzig, Brot, karamellig AP: klares bernstein/kupfer TA: malzig, hopfig, kräuterigbitter, brotig, nussig
2.7 From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours brown with a thin head. Brown ale like , nutty and malty. Too sweet for my palate.
2.9 Gezapft in einem Düsseldorfer Restaurant Braun, dunkles Rot-Braun, etwas Schaum Aroma: Wässriges Malzaroma, Nuss, Geschmack: Malz, Karamell Nicht besonders süß, aber auch wässrig.
3.5 500ml at Bavaria Brauhaus. Nutty brown with a big off white head. Malt aroma and flavour with a woody aftertaste
3.2 Malty taste, not too sweet and well-balanced with quite bitter, grassy hops.
2.5 Transparent, dark-ish brown colour. Large, puffy head. Aroma is some nuts and malt. Taste is a tiny bit of caramel, but it's pretty weak.
2.9 Bottle at Düsseldorf Airport - transparent brown color, white head. bit nutty, malty, body is rather thin. okay drinkability, not much more.
2.9 In Ordnung, nichts spezielles.
3.1 Ein klassisches Alt, sehr erfrischend dennoch herb. Leicht bitter im Abgang. Sehr schöne Schaumkrone, schöne Bernsteinfarbe.
3.0 Kolor amber, klarowny.
3.0 Bottle picked up in Düsseldorf. Clean chestnut brown with a minimal head. Aroma is light nutty malt. Flavour is malt and bread, a little water on a warm malt base.
2.8 Altbier in general puzzles me - as a style, it just seems to make an understatement that turns out to be... well, not so understated at all. Sorry, but I have never been able to discover what Alt is all about. I like the appearance (and that goes for this one, too) and I like the malty nose, and this one does seem nice enough to drink... I can even detect a hint of roastiness. But I'm bored, yet again. It's like a very timid version of brown ale. Perhaps I should try a microbrewed Altbier one day. On the other hand, perhaps I just shouldn't review this style at all.
2.9 Not sweet, not sour but nowhere in between, no essence of hops alright, not great
3.1 Copper in colour. Malty, nutty and slightly sweet taste. Resembles more an English ale than a traditional German beer
2.9 Refrigerated 0.5 L brown bottle from Erzengel poured into a glass. Clear dark amber with small beige head. Aroma is caramel, light body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt.
4.4 Earlier Rating: 8/12/2018 Total Score: 4.1
3.4 Shared bottle at home. Pours clear copper with off-white head. Aroma of caramel, bread, some roasted and floral notes. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium bodied, slightly bitter finish.
3.0 Bottle at home. Clear mahogany, white head. Sweet malts, leathery, caramel, nutty, hazelnut, chestnut, grain, sweet corn. Moderate sweet and bitter. Under medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty strong nuttiness that comes out alright. Still it's just bland and a lot of the same.
0.5 Nice alt beer on draught in Dusseldorf but slightly more carbonated than ideal
3.5 Fles 33cl thuis. Zoetig & kruidig, licht zompig, malt, drop, lange nadronk. (6-2016).
3.2 Nice in the bottle but too much carbonation on draught ruins the nice flavour.
3.8 From Latiendadelacerveza. In Bavaria hefe glass. Playing Avernum 2. Malty. Without having specially outstanding flavors, it has a no defects and a great feel and drinkability that make it really sessionable
4.0 En fin maltet smag og mørk malt. En rigtig god humle af tysk/europæisk oprindelige.
