4.0Dark red colored beer. Medium head. Some lacing is present.
Bready aroma with cocoa hints.
Very nice taste. Like slightly burnt bread crust. Well balanced.
Oily texture. Thick body. Carbonation level is on point - not too much bubbles, but not too little either.
One of better altbiers I drank.
3.65l can, thanks janne! Brownchestnutty clear. Smooth malty nose, light metallics, nuttyness, even chocolate drycake. Med bodied, lovely smooth and easy. Light woody earthyness, full flavoyred, excellent!
3.250 cl. flip top bottle @ home, bought @ Edeka, Kleve.
Clear copper brown with a big off-white head. Malty caramel aroma. Sweet taste with a bitter finish. A very solid altbier.

3.5Bottle from Erzengel - thank you!
Tight bubbly white head stayed on a mahogany coloured, slowly carbonating body.
Malt, dark chocolate & tobacco aroma.
Medium bodied, well carbonated on the palate with a clean back.
Malt, chocolate, caramel, biscuit & bread tastes - quite sweet overall.
3.7Schlüssel Alt 5%. Bronze brown, dark caramel malt aroma, light bodied, dark caramel malt, toffee, tea. Lovely Dunkel from Düsseldorf.
3.4From the barrel at Zum Schlussel in dusseldorf. A really interesting beer. Mahogany brown yet appearing light. Bitter malts. Nutty caramel after.
3.4ambrato piuttosto carico limpida buonaschiuma leggere note tostate amaro medio non molto aromatico buona secchezza lieve caramello filo nocciola cereale
3.2For an Altbier (not really my style) this is well balanced and features quite an interesting aroma.

4.0Bottle. Color: Clear copper, frothy off-white head. Aroma: Malt, caramel, hints of bread. Taste: Very smooth, malty, grassy hop, caramel, lightly herbal hints. Moderate to medium sweet and bitter. Medium body. Long lasting finish. Great example of a good traditional Altbier. Malt and hops are well balanced, some complexity and very easy drinkable.
3.2Bottle. Aroma is brown malts with some roast and caramel. Flavour is sweetish with a mild bitterness. Medium bodied. A very fine Altbier.
3.8Shared bottle at home. Pours clear dark brown with big light beige head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, notes of dark bread. Tastes bitter with some malty sweetness. Medium bodied, bitter finish. Nice!
3.7Bottle. Clear brown with shades of red and a huge white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and nuts. A tiny but pleasant whiff of diacetyl. Taste follows aroma. Moderate roastiness and bitterness. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Very balanced and süffig. Nice Alt. My uncle's favourite beer. I'll drink to him.
3.0Kastanjebruin bier met beige schuimkraag. Mout, karamel. Zoet, licht bitter. Licht waterig. OK.
3.1Donkerbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter en licht zoet met iets van karamel en noot. Mooi in balans.
3.5Van tap bij de brouwerij in Düsseldorf. Maltig, caramel, licht droog, vrij korte nadronk, goede balans. (12-2017).
4.2Pours a slightly cloudy, deep mahogany coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of bready, slightly grainy and roasted malt and herbal, earthy hops, with hints of dark fruit and nuts as well. Taste is an excellent balance of bready, grainy, slightly roasted and caramelly malt and herbal, earthy hops, as well as a distinct walnut presence and hints of dark fruit, with notes of raisin and fig. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some bready, roasted malt and herbal, earthy hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Schlüssel is probably my favorite Alt beer, as it's the most dark, roasted and complex of the Düsseldorf Alts. Even though it could be a bit more bitter for my personal taste, the overall balance of bitter, roasted, and sweet notes really is outstanding here, with a great dry and lightly roasted character, good bitterness and light sweetness. The rather herbal and earthy hops fit this flavor profile perfectly, while the distinct, nutty walnut presence and subtle dark fruit notes leave a rather rich impression here. Overall, I think that Schlüssel is kinda underrated. While it could be more bitter and full-bodied, it makes up for that with that certain roastiness, great overall balance and richness of character.
4.0Copper coloured ale with a nice fluffy off white head. Aroma: caramel, malty, sweet and some hoppy notes. Taste: caramel, malty, hoppy and a bit fruity in the dark fruit area. Really nice brew.
3.6Softer BrownAleNutter mit säuerlicher Erdung👌✨ 0,5l Bottle Gift von Tommy :)..
3.7A very nice beer. Orange Brown with a big head. The head disappears quickly but the caramel and hoppy taste stays long. A little sweet but overall a nice beer.
3.4500mml. bottle as part of the European Secret Santa 2017 edition. Many thanks to Erzengel for this one! Tasted on the 28/02/2018 at home. Clear dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of barley malts, caramel, bread, toffee and some hops. Taste is toffee, caramel and malts. Semi-dry finish. Next one please!
3.5Bronze with some white suds. Caramel and bread, some light black tea aroma. Its got that dry herbal hop taste that many alts do and lots of malt (I always feel like it tastes like rye). A bit watery compared to Fuchschen alt. A nice alt bier, grainy cereal flavors, dry bitterness, a bit sweet, a little watery though. Nice and drinkable neverthless. Thanks LagziLajcsi!!!
3.9Clear dark amber to brown colour, minimal creamy slightly beige-ish off-white head; aroma of herbal and grainy notes, rye bread, moderate toffee and nutty notes; taste of toasted rye bread, burnt sugar, herbal and nutty notes; good one! many thanks for sharing, kapusil!
3.80.5l bottle. Dark orange/brown body with a white head. Aroma and taste of caramel, toast and grains with a nice floral hoppy character and some spices like nutmeg. The finish is not harsh like in case of quite a few alts. Very nice.
3.4Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a small white head. Malty and hebal tones. Malt, herbs, hops and bitterness. Medium body with a nice bitter / malty finish.
3.850cl bottle, thanks to Erzengel and ESSS17. Pours clear mahogany brown with big white head. Aroma has hay, malt and nuts. Taste is leathery well rounded maltiness with dry finish. Very good!
3.8Bottle, gift from ippopotamo36 (thanks Alberto!). Color tonaca di frate, abbastanza limpida, schiuma avorio media e persistente. Al naso note di malto, caramello, frutta secca (nocciole), crosta di pane. In bocca è dolce, maltata con finale bilanciato amaro delicato. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Davvero niente male, grazie socio!
3.529-12-17 // tap at the brewpub, Düsseldorf. Chestnut brown. Dry sweet malty with a mild hop bitterness.
