Schneider Weisse Tap 05 - Hopfenweisse Weizendoppelbock

Schneider Weisse Tap 05 - Hopfenweisse Weizendoppelbock

[Formerly Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfenweisse]

TAP5 Meine Hopfenweisse shows how far wheat beer can go. This specialty was created by the crazy idea of a transatlantic brewing project between Garrett Oliver (brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery, New York) and our brewmaster Hans-Peter Drexler.

Tap 5 is a hoppy fireworks, a shiny golden, slightly reddish strong wheat doppelbock, with
an intense floral aroma that reminds of tropical fruit and pineapple. An exotic fruity sweetness meets with fireworks of hops. This extreme wheat beer shows how far wheat beer taste can go and pairs very well with spicy food. Bottle conditioned.

Ingredients: water, wheat malt (50%), barley malt (50%), hops (Hallertau Tradition, Saphir), yeast.

3.7 Bottle from Edmonton liquor store after braving subzero weather for new rates. Pours a hazy golden orange color with a foamy, off white head. Big aroma of yeast, green hops and sweet malt with citrus. Flavor is malty cereal, orange citrus and buckets of yeast. A hint of booze. Thick mouthfeel. Interesting.
4.1 Similar to a DIPA, very delicious.
3.9 Cloudy golden pour with a thin off white head …. Aroma of wheat, floral hops, spicy, grass, funk, little sour and fruits think grapes and bananas …. Taste is of floral and fruity hops, spicy dry hops, wheat, light funk, lightly sour and grass, sweet and citrusy, banana and bubblegum ….. finish is dry hopped with banana, spice, wheat, sugar and floral hops ….. very intensely flavored … medium body …. Very enjoyable, abv is hidden well .. neat cross of a Weizen and a pale ale
4.0 I had this beer in March 2017 and rated it with 4 stars in UT. One of my favourite breweries from Germany.
3.5 Godt hvete øl. Passe tåkete med lavt skum. Litt bitter i ettersmaken. Kanskje litt for kald.
4.5 Schneider Hopfenweisse pours a beautiful hazy orange body with a pillowy off-white head which leaves some lacing behind. The bright and graceful nose is full of bright orange and lemon candy notes against a backdrop of ripe bananas, cloves, bubblegum, and proofed yeasty dough. The attack is quite sweet and displays light caramelization and yeast with pleasant acidity, followed by the bittersweet mid-palate with a steady buildup of fruity, citric hops with grapefruit notes blended with notes of cloves and bright fruity esters, especially ripe bananas. The finish is quite grippy with lingering bitterness, reappearing acidity, and a gentle glow. Overall, this brew is quite bitter to mouth for a weizen and presents itself as a hybrid between a very aromatic weizen and an IPA of a primarily bright character with dark undertones. The body is pillowy with yeasty density, paired with a thick mouthfeel and fine but lively carbonation in perfect balance. Novel and superbly done.
3.3 Bottle. Pours hazy golden with medium thick head. Aroma is fruity, flour, caramel, some blood orange, light banana, citrus, grassy. Taste is bitter, four, green banana, some citrus, grassy, some oily notes, light strawberry. Nice beer!
4.8 Gooseberry and strawberry aroma on opening the bottle. Very strong banana aroma when in the glass. Full bodied and strong alcohol taste. Fruity palate.
3.8 Orangebrun farge med høyt hvitt skum. Lukter humle, ananas, banan. Fruktig og noe oljete i munnfølelse. En god bitter og fruktig avslutning. Ble positiv overasket over denne🙂.
4.2 Enjoyed: Poured from bottle into weizen glass. Appearance: Blurry orange/ocher colour, rich head. Aroma: Hops, citrus, banana, wheat, grains, bread, yeast. Palate: Medium body, moderate but still gentle carbonation. Taste: Malt, caramel, gentle banana, citrus, bittersweet aftertaste. Overall impression: Excellent beer, well-balanced, drinkable; alcohol is almost not sensible, just a little bit in aftertaste.
4.6 Pineapple frenzy, nose, palate and after taste. Also banana after taste. Cloudy and yeast residuum, mild carbonation, lack of watery effect which is Great.
3.0 Psenice, silna, docela ochucena.
3.9 Fruity aroma with notes of pineapple, banana, cloves. A yellow, slightly hazy beer with a slight white head. A little sweetness on the palate, pineapple, orange peel. The aftertaste goes from sweet to malty with a slight bitterness. Effervescent, medium carbonation.
3.1 Data do 13.10.21 r.; Wypite: 23.05.21 r. Ogólnie: Bardzo specyficzna i niezbyt przyjemna kompozycja.
1.0 Wiredly floppy, not a very clear taste. This is a failure if Weiss.
4.0 Fruity and floral aromas, dominated by fruity esters. Ripe fruits, banana, pumpkin, yeasty but not bready. Feels very full. Hazy orange, a large, fluffy and everlasting white head, with laces on the glass. Taste has very low bitterness at first, very estery and fruity, with banana, clove, ripe fruits, pumpkin (yes, I even went to smell some pumpkin to compare), sweet but with some hop bitterness to finish it dry. Medium bodied, smooth, creamy and medium carbonated, alcohol is definitely there and reheats the brain. Always been a fan of Schneider Weisse's Weizen, this was new to me, and it was definitely a good experience. I would find this quite modern. Good stuff!
4.1 510 ml bottle : deep gold-amber colour , small head .... nose dominated by yeasty-estery aromas , fruity , cloves ... slightly spicey taste , cardoman , good wheatiness , yeasty ... delicious ... a warming , big beer : Love it ! .... cheers ...
4.8 Whole box from online store, fresh date. Creamy head, aroma of heavy herb and pineapple notes, balanced dry taste and herb flavor. The herb(maybe the mint note) taste is very similar to a kind of cough syrup: Jizhitangjiang, I like this syrup, so I like this beer. Itself is categories as weizendoppelbock but it is more like iipa, a very hoppy brew.
4.3 500ml bottle. Pours a Dark gold with small amounts of pillowy white head. Fresh fruity nose with biscuity malts and hints of sweetness. Medium body with rich fruits at the front and sweetness. Lingering malts throughout and a touch of toffee and candy sugar near the back. A different beer but delicious!
Aroma afrutado y a lúpulo y levadura.
3.8 50cl bottle at home from an online store. Pours opaque orangy- dark golden with nice beige head. Aroma is very yeasty and fruited, banana citrus and also very hoppy, with a touch of cloves. Taste is sweet with malt and wheat and a sweetish tasting yeast very present, citrus and fruits, some light caramel sweetness, pineapple, cloves, and a nice bittering hops that is more present in the finish. There's some sweet exotic fruit - spiciness in the taste as well maybe slightly too present. Medium body, pleasant mouthfeel and rich in taste with lots of sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Also nice 8.2% abv which is quite something. Good carbonation, not too much. Refreshing. Very nice and fruited hoppy weiss, fresh tasting, interesting and easy drinking. Can't wait to have again cold on a summer day, maybe from a german store.
W smaku pojawią sie więcej kwaskowych nut, dalej jakies banany, owocowo chmielowe nutyguma balonowa w posmaku. Delikatna goryczka łodygowow-albedowa i do tego lekko kartonowe w posmaku. Zapach jest świetny potem niestety gorzej.
3.9 Aroma: pineapple, citrus fruit, some clove Appearance: hazy dark golden color with a three-finger beige head. Taste: pineapple, citrus fruit, some clove, light caramel as it turned warm, medium sweetness, medium-high bitterness. Palate: medium-high carbonation, medium-high dryness, nice drinkability for a beer of 8.2% ABV. Overall: A nice combination of tropical hopiness and hefeweissen. Sweetness and wheat characteristics are lower than my expectation of hopfenweisse doppelbock. It is more of a double IPA. Nice though.
4.0 Brudna, złota barwa. Piana obfita, zdobi szkło. Aromat intensywny, trochę słodki, kwiatowy, owocowy. W smaku gładkie, chmielowe, alkohol dobrze ułożony.
4.0 Very interesting hoppy wheat beer. Taste like something between double IPA and hefeweizen. Tasty and pretty drinkable despite the ABV
