Schneider Weisse Tap 09 - Aventinus Eisbock

Schneider Weisse Tap 09 - Aventinus Eisbock

Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...

Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.

Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

3.9 Bevuta in bottiglia. Birra dal bel colore ambrato. Molto corposa. Alta gradazione ma non fastidiosa. Molto buona.
3.8 Bottle @ Home w friends/Dr yeast. Appearance: pours slightly hazy clear brown with good off-white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: barley, bread, caramel, light dried fruit, wheat, banana, alcohol, light earthy and floral notes. palette: strong malty and yeasty aroma, average carbonation, full body, notable sweetness, somewhat balanced by a medium bitterness, average to long duration, sweet finish and an oily texture. Overall: Tasteful classic
4.1 Dark redish-brown color with light brown head. Caramel, plum, fruits, wheat aromas. Average bitterness and bit sweetness. Full body with long warming finish.
4.2 0.33l bottle, probably from Újbuda Sörszaküzlet. Clean, dark brown body, warm and a bit reddish. Intensive aroma of red fruits, mostly cherry and red grape. Also some banana in the background. Taste is dominantly sweet, red fruits with some caramel in the background. Some spices also detectable. Aftertaste is also a bit on the sweet side. Mild carbonation with silky palate, with a hint of alcohol warmth, although not as much as you would expect from a 12% beer. Very good and harmonic beer, although a bit less complex than Tap 06 and less "weizen-like".
4.6 Dark mahogany pour with a white head. Aromas: oak, roasted malt, dark/dried berries, cocoa. Christmassy taste, ginger bread, some spices (cloves, nutmeg, hint of cinnamon), dark chocolate, toffee, roasted grains, whisky-like. Aftertaste of dried fruits, fruit cake, oak - long and pleasant. Really enjoyable.
Nose is toffee and dried fruit. Middle is silky toffee and caramel, ripe banana,e rich currants, dark kilned malt, a floral touch, spices, warming "rummy" character. Finish is sweet, malty, and hints at the ABV, which I sure will build through the beer. Not for everyday, but delicious.
3.7 Elke slok een pareltje, beetje dikkig, kruidig fris. Van de tap @ De Klep. Nasmaak wat kort.
4.1 Bottle, 500ml. Pours dark amber brown, no head. Aroma is esters, ripe fruit, malt. Mouth feel is rich, medium thick, and lightly syrupy. Carbonation is soft to medium. Taste is sweet, mellow bitterness, a hint of acidity. Flavors are ripe fruit, cherry, clove, esters, dark malt - toffee, hints of alcohol flavor, plums. Excellent, surprisingly easy drinking.
3.9 0,33 l bottle from Systembolaget Barkaby. First time tasted this style of beer. Probably good beer although too much to me .
4.1 Bottle. Hazy brown color, low off white head. Peppery esters, dark red fruity aroma. Medium sweet, a little boozy, medium bitter taste. Very malty, spicy fruity aftertaste, a bit phenolic. Thick, silky texture, low carbonation. One of the best Bock beers out there, warming, complex, tasty.
5.0 Lussuriosa, intensa e coinvolgente. L'alcool non si sente.
4.0 Bottle online from The Trembling Madness. Pours a deep mahogany colour with a large thick foamy beige head. Aromas of caramel, fruit cake, bananas and cloves. Fantastic smelling beer. Taste has more upfront notes of fruit cake and caramel, with fainter notes of bananas and cloves. Sweet hints of treacle and also a little tobacco and warming alcohol which is extremely well hidden considering the very high abv. Fantastic winter warmer sipper.
3.4 Zware donkerbruine ijsbok van Schneider. Tap 09.
3.2 Went in some place asking for a strong stout and this is what they offered me. To be fair it is good and strong, but in more of a caramel flavoured super tennants sort of way.
4.0 Bottle. Chestnut brown colour with a relatively small fine pored tan head and some floaters, nose is malty, roasty, nutty and slightly boozy with notes of coffee, chocolate, nougat and plums in rum, taste is sweet, roasty and malty with a tart finish and lots of chocolate in the aftertaste.
4.3 11.2 oz. bottle. Caramel colored pour with a white ring around the head. Big aroma of malted wheat and dark fruits. Alcohol heat and bubble gum. Ale with a lot of spices and big flavor. Big heat on the aftertaste but it’s well done. Extremely complex. Cloves, bread, bananas, cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, hints of vanilla extract. Hard to place all of the flavors going on here but it’s damn delicious.
3.7 Nalewa się ciemno-miedziane, delikatnie mętne, piany jasnobeżowa niezbyt obfita. W zapachu mocno banan, taki słodki jakby troche skarmelizowany, trochę śliwki, delikatnie chlebowo-karmelowe. Dosyć mocno nasycone, wyklejające. W smaku słodko, jeszcze bardziej karmelizowane banany, karmel, ciut może gumy balonowej, finisz lekko flamastrowy. Bardziej intensywny weizenbock w sumie i tyle, plus za świetnie ukryty alkohol.
3.7 barwa bronzowa metna. piana znika do zera. aromat karmel suszone sliwki. smak slodowy troche likier. goryczka niska. wysycnei ok
4.1 Fles @ Little Délirium Café Amsterdam, IX 2021.
4.0 Slightly sweet with roasted red fruits, dates, toffee, aromatic herbs, notes of oak, malts and wheaty yeast.
3.7 330ml bottle. Poured a murky medium brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is toffee malt, treacle, red berry fruits,. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a sweet toffee, fruity, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
4.1 C: chestnut brown N: sweet, caramel, fudge, malty, honey, candied sugar, brown sugar P: frothy, silky, sweet, light confectionary, caramel, dried fruit, dried dates, date syrup, american oak, light bourbon notes, alcohol remains in the background, but this is really a sipper.
3.3 September 2021. Strong malt backbone. Very sweet. Sticky. Surprisingly thin for a 12% ABV. Lightly carbonated. Not much bitterness. Carmel is the predominant note I am picking up. A bit of banana. A bit spicy, Clove? Bread. Not my favorite iesback but I am not that big on wheat beers so perhaps I am not that good of a judge on this one.
4.3 Malty, wheat, sweetness and grapes in taste and aroma. Good bitterness that fills the whole mouth for an eternity. Really good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.7 Bottle from REWE Saarburg, RLP, Germany Pours: deep black with a small off white head Nose: sweet malts, coffee, raisin, plum, dried fruits Taste: sweet malty, caramel, toffee, raisin and plum Finish: long lasting yeasty, sweet caramel and dried dark fruits
4.1 Dark brown, low white foam glass. Nose of old wine barrel with some sweet red fruit. Palate is fulfilling, old wine from am open barrel, caramels and tints of pepper. Low carbo. Long after taste, Wheaty, persistance is super high, high sugars, straight to the brain. Danger!!
4.0 Rude, kasztanowe. Mętne. Sporo beżowej piany. Która częściowo redukuje się. Aromat słodowy, zbożowy, chlebowy. Melanoidynowy. A przy tym likierowy – zapach szlachetnego alkoholu. Który rozgrzewa: musiałem nadpić trochę piany, bo wystartowała ostro. Gęste, o mało co kisiel. To co w aromacie, plus karmel. Alkohol, niestety wychodzi z ukrycia i daje o sobie znać.
