Schramm's Blackberry

Schramm's Blackberry

This earthy, brightly acidic mead balances the lingering tartness of whole blackberries and carefully selected honey. Intensely fruity with balanced acidity, a complex flavor profile and an earthy aroma, this mead is reminiscent of picking fruit on a mid-summer day. A strong option for the cellar, blackberry will continue to mature and develop in the bottle for years. Blackberry pairs well with creamy cheeses, duck, and veal.

4.0 Taster. Pours darkest ruby. Aroma is blackberry and honey indeed, floral, could also strawberry. Body is heavy and full, quite sweet but balanced by a nice acidity. Palate is sweet, tannins and berries. Burns a little, though. Still greatly balanced, not superfluous sugar. Good!
4.0 [9/8/18] Bottle sample at Beavertown Extravaganza 2018 in London. Day 2. Thanks a lot SinH4 for sharing! Deep burgundy color. Big jammy berries, honey, sweet, caramel, thick, oily. Great stuff.
3.3 Sampled from bottle shared by SinH4 @ hotelroom tasting after Borefts 2018 Day 1. Thanks! Thick syrupy looking super dark red color, virtually no head. Aroma is intens but flavor is even more insane. Blackberry, sweet trip red / black fruit notes but also a light chili note somehow? Odd.
3.1 Extrem fruchtiger Beginn mit weichem Honig im Hintergrund. Brombeere, erkennbare Säure, die zum Ende eher noch ansteigt. Vollmundig, trocken im Hintergrund, zum Ende Alkohol. Spritzig. 10/9/10/10//10

4.0 A dark burgundy red mead with aroma of sweet dark red fruits, light peppery notes, light curry, very nice. In mouth, sweet blackberry fruit, light acidity, alcohol warmth, light tobacco, very rich and complex. Bottle at meadery.
4.1 Taster at BUMBa. Pours a dark ruby red/purple, no head. Like fresh homemade jam. Blackberry, raspberry, both sweet & tart, lovely tannins to it. Perfect bit of dryness to balance the jammy sweetness.
3.7 Poured a dark black-plum color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was blackberry wine with a light tannin note. The flavor was sweet and tart blackberries and raspberries. Long finish. Full bodied.
4.0 Pour at Schramm's. Pours a deep red wine color with nice legs when swirled. Blackberry-forward, with red wine, and a honey backbone. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, fruity, acidic, tannic, vinous mouthfeel. Not quite as much depth as some of the others, but really lovely and tasty in its own right.
4.2 Pour at Schramm’s. The pour is a darker ruby purple with great clarity and a. Beautiful set of legs. The aroma is solid. There’s a tart blackberry and a nice honey sweetness. The fruit dries out as it opens up and finishes real nice. The flavor is much of the same. There is a little more sharpness going on and a bit of an earthy fruit. The honey balances but this is a little sharper than I’d like. The mouth feel is syrupy and coating with a soft fruitiness and a strong honey on the back end. Not bad. 8 5 7 5 17
4.2 At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of syrupy sugar and dark berries. Taste has sweet syrup, dark berries, plum, some tart and a cloying sweet mouthfeel. Not bad at all.
4.0 W aromacie czuć jeżyny i karmel. W smaku bomba. Dużo jeżyn, miodu. Bardzo deserowe i smaczne
4.0 Sweeeeet like hell, fruity like hell (maybe even more in taste than in aroma). Enjoyable despite the brutal sweetness.
4.2 Rami Rami is drinking a Blackberry by Schramm's Mead at Saska Kępa Aromat taki nijaki kapke, winno owocowo jakistamdziwny. Ale smak czad, miodowy na maxa, slodki, zlamany kwaskowatoscia owocow, mrrrrau
4.5 The mead has got a deep dark purple colour with a smooth and sticky body. Aroma of intense blackberries and honey. Taste is really intense, quite sweet, highly appealing. Taste explosion, so fruity and with character. Loved it.
3.7 Bottle shared by Matt - thanks! Pours clear burgundy, no head or lacing. Aroma is honey and blackberries. Flavor is fully sweet, boozy, liquer. Medium body. OK. Perhaps mead overload by this point.
4.1 Fruity, sweet, honey, very slightly acidic in aroma. Sweet, honey, berries, some booze, almost a slight bitterness (from the fruit?) but the bitterness and boozyness counters the sweetness in a really nice way. First sip I thought it was almost to much going on, quite a powerful mead, but as I got into it I enjoyed it more and more. Medium body. Much fruit, deep purple color seems almost like the clear glass bottle have been colored by the liquid!
4.1 Bottle share. Strong fruity aroma, light honey character. Holy cow. Decadent fruitiness. Smooth honey with light alcohol. Sweet. A touch of vanilla. Great.
