3.2 On tap in the Schumacher Stammhaus pub in Düsseldorf. Medium brown, nice toasty malt, medium earthy hop. Pleasant, drinks easily.
3.4 33 cl. flip-top bottle @ home, bought @ Trinkgut Kleve. Clear brown with an off-white head. Nice malty bready caramel aroma. Sweet taste with a slight metallic finish, fitting for the style. A fine example of an altbier.
3.5 330ml Bottle - Brown with orange tinges and a foamy head. Caramel, sultanas, nuts and some hints of dried apricot in the aroma. Biscuity taste with notes of toffee, pecan nuts, walnuts and dried fruit.
3.5 Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a orange with an off white head. Aroma is caramel malts, bubblegum. Taste biscuit, toffee, malty, caramel.
3.5 11/7/2020. Bottle at the NCFC relegation party, courtesy of Idiosynkrasie, cheers Boris! Poured clear deep amber with a creamy long lasting off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, hop, bread and fruit. Medium sweetness and light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Looked great, and quite enjoyed it.
3.6 From fass @Luppolo Station (Rome). Ambrata intensa, viva, schiuma bianca leggera. Al naso note di caramello, toffee, leggero erbaceo. In bocca è dolce, ancora caramello, toffee, e chiusura amara leggera a bilanciare. Corpo leggero, carbonazione leggera. Ci sta.
3.0 Ach als je er dan toch bent dan maar even bij de brouwerij langs, bittere alt, moutig en wat caramel, ach t is te doen. Purchased at Brauerei Schumacher
3.6 Definitely one of the best in style, clean and malty. Got amber color, and tastes like it. Guy in brewdog hamburg (3.6 dec 2019) Again at brewery in dusseldorf. Solid beer

4.1 coarse, bitter, herb,
3.4 Tap/barrel at Schumacher in Dusseldorf. Much lighter drinking than the other alts on the street.
3.5 Dark Copper with a big head. For an Alt, this beer is very smooth, yet powerfull. Nice long lasting aftertaste. A very good alt in a fancy 1Liter bottle.
3.4 From cask at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam. Aroma is bready caramel malts with a nutty touch, toffee, some fruity notes with a suggestion of hops. Pleasant gentle bitterness in the finish, sweetness within bounds. Body is medium. Pretty exquisite Alt, balanced with plenty going on.
4.4 Light copper colour. Clear. Slightly puffy, off-white head. Aroma is toffee and bread. Taste is caramel, biscuits, orange, and a good level of hops. Truly fantastic.
2.9 Bottle from Duisburg. Dark copper with a full head. Aroma of chocolate malt. Flavour is malt and nut, smooth texture, light nutty finish.
3.2 1 l bottle from Getränkefeinkost Münster shared with my family in law at their Christmas party. Unclear copper in the glass, mid size head. Malty grainy taste, little bit toasted. Low carbonated. Okay.
3.9 On tap@Ferdinand Schumacher Stammhaus, Düsseldorf 10/12/2018 Color ambarino corona de espuma blanca, aromas maltas caramelo sabor dulce cuerpo sedoso.
3.6 Bottle, 1 liter, bottled 13.09.18, bbf 25.10.18. Color: Clear amber, stable off-white head. Aroma: Taste: Moderate to medium sweet malt, caramel, decent hopbitterness. Bread and light toast notes. Long lasting sweetish caramel finish. Smooth almost creamy mouthfeel. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Nice beer, although not the best traditional Dusseldorfer alt in my opinion.
Kruidig, maltje, stevige smaak. (12-2017).
4.0 1 liter bottle thanks to Kapusil. Datker orangey red color very hazy. Faint toffee, caramel, honey bread aroma. Sticky caramel brew, crispy toasted biscuit, some floral or herbal hop notes. Really exemplary alt beer. Brings what I expect from the varied style together. Great but I liked the 1838er a bit more.
3.9 1l swing top bottle. Hazy dark orange body with a thin yolk head. Aroma of caramel, toast, orange zest and floral hops. Taste of caramel, orange zest, toast, bread and floral hops. Starts sweet but the hops show up in the finish. Very nice alt.
4.1 Pours a clear, deep, dark amber coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of bready, biscuity malt and grassy, floral hops, with just a hint of red berries as well. Taste is an excellent balance of bready, biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and herbal, grassy, slightly floral hops, with just a hint of citrus coming through, as well as just a hint of red berries. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some bready malt, floral hops and hints of citrus and red berries lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. Schumacher is really unique among the Düsseldorf Alts in that it is a lot more hop-forward, with a less rich malt body, which is not necessarily a bad thing though, just different. While their 1838er Alt is almost more of a Pale Ale, this is still quite hoppy for the style, feeling a bit more fruity from a combination of both hops and esters, with some subtle citrus and red berry notes coming through, as well as quite a good bitterness. However, there still is a solid bready and slightly caramelly malt presence here, making for an excellent overall balance of sweet and bitter notes. Overall, this makes for a slightly different, but very enjoyable Alt beer that's a bit more on the hoppy side while still maintaining a great balance.
Süffig-solides Alt.
3.3 Bottle. Reddish orange with a small white head. Malty and fruity tones. Malt, fruit, hops and bitterness. Medium body with a balanced finish.
3.7 29-12-17 // draft at the brewery, Schumacher Stammhaus. Clear amber brown, fine-pored foamy head. Very well balanced Alt. Mild sweet caramelly maltness and a solid hop bitterness.
3.4 Pours a clean copper color with medium beige head. Aroma is malty and hoppy, with a marked burnt character. Taste follows the nose, sweet, with citrus, caramel/toffee and a slightly roastiness. Bitter ending to it.
