Schwaben Bräu Das Schwarze

Schwaben Bräu Das Schwarze

The traditional brand Schwaben Bräu represents Swabian beer specialities in a swing-top bottle. The typical ‘plop’ sound when you open the bottle is a sign of good taste.

"Das Schwarze" is a jet-black full-bodied beer that involves a complex brewing process and has an aromatic and tangy flavour.

3.6 A solid, easy to drink, black lager, not a heavy complex beer. Dark malt, roasted malt, without anything charcoal, nutty, porter like or stout like at all. Just a solid, dark lager. Medium or a bit thin mouth feel.
2.7 Color marrón muy oscuro. Poca espuma que se va deprisa. Aroma escaso a caramelo. Sabor también escaso. Más gas del deseable. Nada especial.
3.1 Amber tinged dark brown on tap. Cool tobacco aroma and flavor going on, but very thin and watery, which effected the flavor/palate negatively.
4.0 It's funny, being an American Expat and seeing the reviews of other Americans. Me, I was like them in that I didn't know what a good beer was until I came to Europe. Unlike them, I realize American beer (Bud, Coors, etc.) is horse piss, which is why American beer needs to be served ice cold. Otherwise, it tastes like horse piss. While not spectacular, Das Shwarze is a decent enough dark beer. Not really strong alcohol-wise, but it has a fine taste, nice color, and very little head. Good to sip, excellent with meals.
Aroma a maltas tostadas, incluso algo quemadas. Gusto maltoso, tostado, algo de café y regaliz. Cuerpo acuoso. Cerveza seria, sencilla y de trago fácil.
3.0 500 ml bottle from Drinks of the World. Because of MJ, of course. My third MJ500 beer of this trip. Roasty nose, slightly burnt, fruity, berries, light chocolate malt and herbal hops. Thin brown to black with orange tints and a medium head. Light malt flavor, slightly fruity, some coffee and dark chocolate, thin overall. Somewhat hoppy, peppery finish is nice. Not horrible, but does not live up to its exalted legacy. It still is a reasonably nice Schwarzbier from what would have been West Germany when MJ first tried it, and thus it would have been more accessible than the Eastern ones. I have heard that nothing good has happened at Dinkel-Acker recently, so it might have been even better back then. It has been overtaken by better craft versions. I know of at least 3 Japanese-made schwarzbier that are far better than this.
2.9 Een zwarte rakker met een crèmekleurige volle kraag. Smaken en aroma's zijn hoppig, aards, moutig, karamel, beetje droppig met een droog iets zout einde.
2.0 Bottle with flip-top. Pours clear dark amber-brown with a beige head. Nose is cigarette smoke, stale malt. Taste follows with some dark fruits, blown fuse residue, 2 day old cigarette-soaked water, brown sugar. Can't recommend this one.
3.2 Donkerbruin tot zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitter en licht zoet met iets van rook en geroosterd brood.
3.3 Draught. Black with thin tan head. Light malt and sugar aroma. Malty taste with some cola notes. Finish was thin, perhaps this was too long in the keg.
3.1 Appearance- very dark cola-brown, a half-finger beige head. Aroma- caramel and toffee, stewed dark fruit, raisin, malt loaf. Taste- brown sugar, burnt fruitcake, dark malts, raisin and sultana, malt loaf, biscuity bready malt.
1.9 Review: 0,5l black flip top bottle of Das Schwarze: ABV: 4.9% vol The ‘Black Forest Dark beer’ coming in a nice enough dark bottle with a fiip top. On pour looks great, a jet black colour, with a bit of a reddish hue, decent frothy white head which settled down to a thin layer, some lacing. Looks crisp and ready to devour. Not a bad looker. The aroma is faint, very faint. Slightly beery, malty and grainy and some fruits but not much on the nose. Lovely mouthfuls at the start. Get a taste of the toffee. Can really get a good feel for the beer, and nice creamy mouthfuls. Initially. Sweet malty taste. Very smooth, but overall not a whole lot of flavours or tastes though. It is a bit bland, but easy to drink. No kick, no substance to it and a tad bit disappointing. Second bottle. Do get the coffee and dark chocolate notes, it is slight though at the front end. smooth, easy to drink, and light but, as I said, it is a little disappointing as all the tastes are only fleeting on the palate. They really need to stick around that little longer! I can’t taste the alcohol, and it is a pretty weak beer. These black lagers are kind of a waste of time to be honest, no kick, no standout tastes. I think black beers are the one style I struggle with as I always find them too weak to enjoy and don’t really see the point in them to be honest, but I will keep trying them………………
2.9 Looks nice in a glass - dark brown colour with a small head. Caramel, cereal, roasty, earthy, smoke. Medium bitterness, medium sourness. On the tongue, it’s very watery. The taste is a bit thin and forgettable. Average.
3.0 barwa ciemno brunatna,. Aromat mało intesnywny, nuty ciemnego pieczywa, palony karmel. W smaku bardziej wyraziste, melasa, ciemne pieczywo, palony karmel, lekko kwaskowate posmaki palone. Finisz wytrawny.
2.9 Bottle. Pours very dark ruby, with a low beige head. Aroma of roasted dark malts, caramel. Taste is sweetish with a very low bitteness. Flavors of slight dark roasted malts, very HVslight caramel, with a slight note of plum-like flavor. Medium body, slick smooth-ish texture, medium carbonation. A decent German dark lager. It's not gonna make your eyes pop out, though it's not gonna give you a yucky feeling either.
2.6 Butelka 0,5 l. Wypita 01.12.2017. W smaku delikatna paloność. Zbyt wodniste. Piana słaba.
2.6 Aroma of caramelized sugar with some roastiness and bread. Dark ruby in the glass with a medium head. Taste is semi sweet with caramel notes, roasted malts and ginger bread with grainy core. Drinkable and forgetable. That's the point.
2.4 Red, clear brownish creamy foam. Mild aroma paper hint of sour. Grain, with grainy mildly burned and not bitter aftertaste. A bit watery
3.0 Bottle from Sprout's: Poured a dark brown with a minimal layer of foam cap. Aroma is earthy roots with dark roasty caramelized malting that pleasures my nose. The flavor is expire malts with yeast that suggest cigar and raisin qualities but none other than those two.
3.0 Niewiele aromatu, trochę wodniste. Palony słód, odrobina goryczki. Nie za słodkie.
4.1 A good looking beer with a two finger tan foam, red-brown color and a roasty aroma. The taste lightly bitter with a creamy texture and long finish that leaves a smoke aroma. Great beer overall.
2.9 Botella 0,5l Color negro, espuma beige, fina, no alta, de 1 dedo, poca resistencia.Aroma- malta, cereales, caramelo, frutas.sabor-un suave dulzor, caramelo, malta, cereales. Postgusto-dulce y fino amargor no prolongado.Buena
2.7 A reasonable Schwarzbier, focussing on roasted malt flavors. With that it turns out to be rather on the sweet end, probably bordering the style of a Porter rather than a full-bodied Schwarzbier.
3.7 No detail information about the malts, hops or drinktemperature here. Clear black beer with very nice fine light beige head, smell is very strong bread, taste also, no hoppy, not long finish, (I have 0.5l bottle with best-before 19.02.2018 and batch 10721)
3.0 F: big, beige, not long lasting. C: dark brown, clear against the light. A: malty, bit of caramel, brown sugar, dark bread. T: dark roasted malt, bit of dark bread, caramel, cocoa bitterness, quite watery, medium body, medium carbonation, not bad, 0,5l bottle from REWE supermarket in Perl in Germany.
2.3 On tap at PIB 2017, pours a hazy dark chestnut brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some light vegetal notes. Flavour is similar, with tons of boiled vegetables, cabbage, and light toasted bread. Amateur, vegetal and herbal. Bad.
2.8 Botella del @Supermercado Lidl, Oviedo. 22/06/17. BBD:09/03/18 Color negro opaco con corona de espuma blanca, aromas ligeros tostados, el sabor es tostado con algo de cafe cuerpo ligero.
