2.9 Pop-top @ Rudat, Dortmund-Oespel, Germany. Moves on from the Pils and get’s an amber-color treatment. Nose is a bit more bumped up with malts and some herbal qualities. Body is a medium with a slight bite. Taste is malts, caramel, a slight slight figure of spice, and rounds off nicely with grains and bitters. Decent brew.
3.2 500 ml bottle a golden yellow colored beer with a white head aroma malts fruits and hop taste malts spices hops
3.4 Haven’t seen this around a while, but remember it being slightly malty, and fairly good.
3.0 From a bottle poured brown with a fair amount of head. Sweet malty flavor with a quick finish.
3.6 500 ML Fliptop Bottle in Germany. Pours a deep amber color with off white head with fantastic lacying. Aroma is a citrus, sour and floral mix. Taste is a sweet, bitter mix with a nice quick finish. Palate is a soft metal ending. A good beer and complex.
3.1 On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a clear orange amber with a thin white head. Sweet caramel, toast, and biscuit aromas. Medium bodied, sweet, light paper and banana. Finishes up bitter with some light graininess.
2.8 (bottle) pours a clear dark golden colour with a frothy white head. flavour is dark grainy malts, caramel and light herbal hops. flavour is quite the same, mostly grainy malts. medium body and carbonation with a weirdly sour finish.
2.9 courtesy of Allen - clear and bright amber colour with a little beige foam left; aroma of butter and hay; medium-bodied, some sweetness and quite tasteless; short flowery finish - pretty useless
2.9 11.2 oz swing cap bottle from Spirits RB. Pours an ugly muddy brown with lots of clinging bubbles and a smaller bubbly white head. Aroma is all grain with notes of nutts, brown bread, toffee, and yeast. Fuller mouthfeel with a watery thinness and stronger carbonation. Flavor of cereal, brown toast, raisins and plastic. Meh nothing special here.
3.2 Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Lightly sweet aroma with toffee and toasted grains. The flavor has sweet malts with some toasty notes. Decent.
3.6 500ml swing top bottle. Red/amber coloured beer with a nice frothy off white head. Good toasty malty aroma..loved it slight Ovaltine scent in this too..which again i loved. Nice malt driven beer, biscuity, doughy, strong, touch of hops in the end. I found this fairly inviting on the palate. Good drinkable vienna. Liked it a lot simple but good.
3.3 Clear amber with a large off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and hoppy notes. Flavour was malty with caramel and grassy hops. Finished dry and quite bitter.
3.3 50 cL bottle, courtesy of MiP. Pours clear and golden orange with a white head. Sweet caramel and pilsner malt aroma, light hops presence. Flavour is smooth roasted malt with a light bitterness appearing into the finish. Light breadish touch into the finish alongside a nice fruity hops flavour.
2.3 Bottle, pours deep gold with a small white head. Sweet malty aroma. Flavors are light malt, with some hay and next to no bitterness in the finish.
3.4 Bottle. Pours an almost mahogany body with a thin white head. Some sweet malt, a note of grape, lightly grainy. Sweet malt with an almost plumy fruitness about it. Lightly bitter but not cloying. A bit watery and dull as it warms but somewhat enjoyable.
3.9 Very interesting German beer. Light amber color. Strong malty flavour in nose and mouth. Also nice toasted flavour of malts in the beer with a very long lasting subtle or elegant bitter of hops and toasted malts. Delicious and exciting.
3.9 I find it in local store REAL in KREFELD .. in good botle with tap .. i love this beer ... i bouth 20 pieces ... is the best beer i tasted in Germany ...
2.5 Amber coloured beer with almost no carbonation and a medium white head. Sweeter grainy light malty aroma. Medium creamy palate. Finish is light bitter, malty touched. Dry sweeter light wattery ending, missing some character but easy drinkable.
4.2 A very alt-like vienna style lager. Very malty and slightly sweet in the nose, hints of toast and toffee, and slight earthy hops. Light on the palate, biscuits, caramel, chocolate, hazelnuts, with slight esters and a dry, hoppy finish featuring spicy, earthy noble hops.
2.7 thanks kimjohansen for sharing, aroma is slightly fruity, caramel, slightly spicy. flavor is honey sweet , slight bitterness. round. palate a bit watery, overall a bit dull, but flavor is fine pours clear yellow nice head.
2.4 Nice amber/copper coloured body with a light white head. Nice bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass - no head though after a few seconds. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, wheat and even a little bit of spice. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with some light sugars going on and very little else. No complex flavours going on and no spice flavours at all. Overall, a decent beer - I expected a bit more from this one. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased today from Joe’s Place in Norman, Oklahoma on 03-May-2006.
3.9 Had this one bottled, thanks Slothgar! Golden reddish pour with a thin, eggshell head, and a fruity nose of apple, pear, malt and caramel. Flavor is slightly spicy, with some fruit and molasses. Finish is balanced. I enjoy this style so I might be overrating this one a bit.
3.2 Bottle@Home. Toffee, malts and some herbs in the aroma. Light amber color, small off-white head, no lace. Sweet, bitter, toffee, herbs flavour as well. Light sticky mouthfeel. Pleasant brew.
3.1 Thin sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Light toasted malt aroma with some vegetal notes, corn and decaying grass. Color is a bright dark orange. Light malty flavor with more corn, some brown sugar and toasted nuts. Finishes clean and with some lingering malts. Nothing special and nothing bad (apart from an aroma that is a little bit different). Just a very run of the mill beer that will satisfy many a drinker.
3.0 Bottle from K and B Wine Cellar. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Aroma of apple bread earth fruit and something close to brown sugar. Flavor was heavy on caramel earth and fruit. A pretty straightforward brew. Only a hint of hops. Not bad tasting but just nothing overtly interesting about. One thing its got going for it is it is really easy to drink. Could easily finish one off in a few minutes. Will have to try more of their beers.
1.3 It’s dark amber with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of plastic, rubber and honey. The flavour has a light sweetness and it’s rather dry. The best before date is several months from now, but I’m sure there is something wrong with this bottle... The notes are chemicals and rubber :(
3.0 Bottle. I didn’t know Schwelmer had made a beer named after great composer Leonard Bernstein. The pour is dark straw with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is wheaties, nuts, earthy fruit. Tastes earthy, nutty, with malty, with mild brown sugary notes and a flavor that never approaches sweet, yet gives earthy notes throughout.
3.4 Bottle. Aroma quite sweet with caramel, apple, cherry, other fruits, all very sweet, sort of brown-sugar infused, hint of sour lemon sneaks in. Flavor also sweet, malty, citric notes. Somewhat weak mouthfeel. Simple, but tasty.
2.4 Bottle. Pours a light brown with a very small foamy white head. Aroma of cardboard and stale wheat. Flavor is the same. Tastes just like the Pilsener, somehow. I guess I just don’t like the house character of these Schwelmer beers.
