2.5can sample at a tasting at Tom’s place. Thanks Tom. Clear gold and white bubbles. Funky, then sugary aroma with some cookies. Sweet, then sourish taste, dry-ish. Light body, sourish finish.
2.6Can sample at a tasting. Thanks Tom. Clear yellow. Apples and air freshener aroma. Sweet-sour, apples flavors, dry, a bit bland. Light and watery.
2.6At a tasting, thanks, almost no head, clear quite deep yellow color, light but distinct apple aroma with just a hint of sulphur and some minerals, quite sour with industrial feeling apple sweetness and some fruitiness lingering. Quite drinkable but not that great.
2.6Can sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear yellow-golden. Apples, sulphur, sweetish and slightly tart, with a light alcoholic touch.
2.5(can) clear golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of green olives and apple sauce, quite meaty, with lots of vanilla and some straw. flavour is mostly apple pie and custard, heavily perfumed, with a touch of cherry syrup and grass in the semi-dry finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.
2.8Can at home, 08/05/16.
Clear golden with a moderate off White head of bubbles.
Nose is apple skin, brown sugar, toffee.
Taste comprises apple skin, earthy, straw, toasted sugar.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Average but I could do a can if need be.
2.5500 mo can. Swwt apple mose, light acidity, simple. Taste is semi-tart, apple, lemon, simple ok not much to think anout.
2.7500ml can as Symonds Scrumpy Jack, 6%, BB April 2015. I think I had my last Scrumpy Jack 10 years ago. Anyway, this is clear orange, sparkling, small foamy white head doesn’t endure. Aroma is sweet apple, isotonic drink. Body is light, tingly carbonation, foamy, touch of tooth-rot. Taste is watery apple, centre of a kiwi, fairly dry finish. Simple inoffensive cider. Pretty drinkable overall. Decent enough on a hot day.
2.3Clear deep yellow colour with a small-medium mostly fading white head. Artifical sweet apple aromas are dominating. Lively, bit slick texture with a light-medium body. Sweetness is the theme here with a lgight astringent edge to it. Medium finish.
3.4Foam: white frothy, very short lasting.
Colour: clear golden.
Aroma: simple, apples, red.
Taste: apples, lingering sour dry finish, fruity, medium to high carbonation, light body.
2.4440ml can from the Scotmid. Pours clear golden, thin white head, tight bubbles. Surprisingly attractive. Aromas of cooking apples, sulphur. Taste is chalky, more cooked apples. Astringent finish. Looks good, goes downhill from there.
2.9Can from a mate. Thanks, I think. Pours slightly bright yellow orange. Lots of bubbles. Classy. Aroma is a bit sickly, but there are apples in there. Taste is too sweet, a bit of fruit tang by mostly artificially sweet. Intensely carbonated palette. Well, it is what it is. The best of a fairly sorry bunch (i.e. canned macro ciders).
2.8Can from Seoul Plaza. Aroma very simple, apples, red, slightly vinegary and/or solventy. Clear deep golden colour. Taste is about the same, simple, straight-forward. Very average and boring. Too high ABV to serve as a session drink.
2.4Can at work. Pours golden color, no head. Aroma of apples, dry. Taste starts quite dry, but there are lot of apples in the end.
3.2Can from supermarket. Orange colour, medium carbonation. Aroma of tart apples with hints of sweetness. Rather dry finish. Easy drinkable cider. Not bad.
2.850cl can bought at an international food store. Appearance is light hazy and gold. Thin head. Medium bitter, light to medium sweet. Light sourness. Body is thin to medium and quite carbonated. Aroma is apple, light brett,
2.3Fruity, appley as you would expect. Clear, fruity and fizzy. Clear honey colour. Quite sweet but tangy and bitter as you would expect. Nothing special.
2.9I am rating this in memory of my Dad.
MY Dad was usually a bottle of McEwans Export and 10 nips of Bells man, but when it was really hot outside he used to get a pint of this stuff.
IT was on tap at the local Commercial pub in Dufftown. Coldest thing on tap.
I liked it myself and enjoyed a few with Dad. This was back in the 80s.
I remember also Dad had me run up and get a big lemonade ( soda) bottle filled up at the pub and take it down to his work.
Those were good days.
2.7Can from local offie. Golden fizzy cider with medium head. Aroma of musty apples. Taste is sour apples and some sharp sweetness. Lots of carbonation. Ok cider.
2.8Appearance: Clear golden amber with thin white head.
Aroma: Apple and floral but not much else.
Taste: medium sweet and sourness.
Palate: Thin grainy texture, light body, average carbonation, lingering dry apple finish.
Comments: Ok but not much aroma or taste. Rating is for cask version.
0.9Almost tastes like paint-stripper. Just exists to get real pissed quickly and cheaply. Unfortunately I got too drunk the night I had this and have very poor recollection of this awful night-ender. Buy this if you’re underage or live on the streets.
2.5500ml can 6% abv. Golden colour, foam white head that diminishes to a thin layer and aroma of sweetish apple. Taste is tart apple with a dry pithy note. Light bodied, medium carbonation, watery at the finish. OK.
2.2Leicht moussierender Cider der ausgewogen süß-sauer schmeckt, ohne besondere Akzente zu setzen.
2.2Can. A standard mass produced cider that is slightly less sweet than Magners et al/
2.9500ml can. Aroma is sweet apple and light pineapple. Aroma is pale golden with a nice white head. Taste sweet and bitter. A nice lively carbonation. A full body. Very good cider.
2.7Golden colour with a bubbly head. Apple aroma. Medium body. Dry and lots of apple flavour. A bit more sour than other ciders.
[On tap @ Peter Kavanagh’s in Liverpool, England].
2.5Can [240513]
Amber, clear, white fizzy thin head dissipates to thin rim
Aroma of sweet apple diluted concentrate, some crushed apple cores - slight woody nose, papery note, dab of alcohol, rather light
Taste of sweet cider apple (bit like diluted concentrate), then dry on the palate, some sourness, not a lot going on, simple flavour, reasonable for a macro produced cider
Palate - Medium carb, thin body. Finish is particulary dry, hint of apple
Overall - As a mass produced canned English cider it’s probably the best of the bunch. It’s drinkable, with more apple flavour and less of the artifical junk that’s in ciders such as Strongbow. It is too thin though and still has an artificial edge
2.6Unadventurous but inoffensive dry cider with a fair apple flavour. Slightly soured.
3.3Can from ASDA cons 2013-04-02 Uddingston
AR: yeasty, dry dusty, winter apples, apple core
AP: copper in color, wee deminishing fizzy transparent white head
F: dry, winter apples, great caracter, fizzy, medium bitterness, fruity;)
1.5A bit horrible. In fact it's rancid. "Tastes of processed fizz"- direct quote from my wife.
