Sea Dog (Old East) India Pale Ale

Sea Dog (Old East) India Pale Ale

Fashioned after the famous ales from Burton-On-Trent which took on such bold character after surviving the long, rolling voyage from London to Calcutta in the days of the Empire. This is an amber colored masterpiece in the world of beer styles.

Malt: 2-Row British Pale Ale, Crystal & Chocolate
Hops: Willamette, Cascade
Yeast: Top fermenting English.

3.0 Bottle from Trader Joe’s Westport. Pours brown with a thin brown head. not a lot of joy on the nose. solid grapefruit on the tongue with some solid bitterness on the finish. Solid but not spectacular example of the style.
3.0 Bottle. Amber body with white head. Not very strong aroma of fruits and malts. Taste is a little bit stronger with malts some fruits and hints of pines. Aftertaste is nice balanced between bitterness and sweetness.
2.7 bottled - nice amber color with a decent hop character (both in flavor and aroma). Not the best IPA but not all that bad either.
3.3 Sea Dog India Pale Ale, brewed by Shipyard in Portland, Maine. 5.7%. The Loop Hotel, Zagreb, courtesy of and shared with Hrabren (thanks!). Golden body with a white head. Sweet, peachy malty, sugary perfumey aroma. Bitterish taste, perfumey, notes of honey and bread, light gum, herbal, nicely balanced, drinkable and tasty even feeling the ravages of time. And you gotta love the label!
3.4 0.33 bottle from Loop Hotel, shared with Marko. Says Sea Dog IPA. Golden with small white head. Hoppy tropical, fruits. Medium body, light bitterness. Light bitter finish. Ok, enough for today...
3.4 Bottled 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb as Sea Dog India Pale Ale; 5.7%ABV. Probably this is right one. Dark golden (almost cooper) coloured, small off-white head, fruity nose. Moderate malty, biscuity, fruity hoppy and some floral notes with pretty strong bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Slightly perfumed but pleasant.
3.4 Clear amber color, small white head. Pretty sweet aroma, hops and some biscuit. Medium bitter taste and slightly sweet. Long bitter finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Okay. //stellabeer2go
3.0 Bottle - KBC IPA - Pours a clear amber with a typical head. Different aromas of tart citrus and detergent. Taste is like the aromas with some bitterness and a soapy finish. A very different IPA for me, but drinkable.
3.3 Clear amber color with small white foam. Aroma of citrus and some floral hops, but aftertaste is malty. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with medium bitter finish. Really not bad IPA, but it requires some balance in taste.
3.0 12oz bottle (Kennebunkport "KBC" IPA) thanks to Pizz5116. Pours a clear amber color with a finger of foamy off white head. Aroma of faint citrus, rotted peaches, and a hint of nail polish remover. Taste is better, but not by much. Rotted citrus, lemon zest, bitter pine, yeast, and caramel malt. Meh
3.1 Bottle. Dark golden, hazy, average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and tropical/floral fruitiness and light honey, some grapefruit - citrus hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and tropical/floral fruitiness, some grapefruit - light citrus hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some caramel, light tropical/floral fruitiness, some grapefruit - citrus hoppyness. Sweetish IPA with caramel. Really nothing special.
2.7 [Bottle (12oz)] As ’KBC IPA’. Pours a hazy, very bubbly dark golden-orange with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is fruity and hoppy, bready, sweet and alcoholic -- odd and a bit candy-like. Fruity, bready flavour along with a touch of alcohol and an almost harsh moderate bitter finish. Average bodied. Decent enough that I can drink it, but I’d never buy it again.
3.1 From Total Wine in Stuart. No bottle date. Amber pour with an off orange head Fruity sweet aroma with some sugar and some toffee. Sweet fruits in the taste, toffee, with more simple sugar, some earth and a bit of citrus. Rough. Finishes sweet and slightly bitter. Thinking this was old, but also sure I’ve had before, and it was not that great then. 12.4
3.2 Pours clear amber with medium white head. Nose is slightly hoppy. Aromas are toasted malts, herbs and some floral hops. Light body, medium carbonation. Light bitter finish. Rather basic IPA, quite refreshing but nothing exceptional here.
2.9 As KBC IPA in Seattle. Pale clear brown, small head. Brown malty aroma, some floral hops. Medium, dry body. Malt centered, quite watery. Dry bittering finish.
2.5 Directed here for KBC IPA (Kennebunkport Brewing IPA). Clear amber pour. Moderate carbonation. Aroma is flowery hops and caramel candies. The flavor is toffee, toast, bitter hoppage, with a rough, grainy finish. Pretty harsh.
1.4 Bottle from wegmans. Pours clear amber with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has a bit of floral hops but is mostly toffee and bready malt. The taste is awful.
1.0 355ml bottle. Jsut a rubbish ipa. Scent is stale hop icing. Flavor is hop vinegar. Butchered the style.
3.0 From Trader Joe’s labeled as Kennebunkport/KBC IPA. It pours a nice amber colour with weak white foam. Malty and hoppy, a fairly true-to-style and balanced English-style IPA but nothing to write home about. Light-medium body, somewhat bready mouthfeel, lingering fruity and earthy aftertaste. Decent.
2.6 hadn’t seen the ipa before. kinda excited. kinda. not expecting greatness...but a single is less than a soda! a decent amount of floral hops (this is an east coast ipa after all) atop a thinnish malty background. pleasant, if not spectacular. pretty much what you’d expect and nothing less."
2.3 Deep amber pour. Small off white head. Plenty of lacing. Piney hop aroma. Some caramel notes and a slightly off putting sweet aroma. Taste is slight corn and very bitter. Chalky.
2.2 In a world where there are stellar examples of IPA too numerous to count, a beer like this has no reason to exist. It is an off and metallic rendition of the style and lacking the vibrant hop character that is the hallmark of the style. It is clear red in color and its head is of mixed bubbles and long lasting. This has a mildly floral hop character and a good bit of metallic, basic bitterness. This is rather light bodied but still a bit sweet, which cloys just a touch. This is on the low end of drinkable, I suppose, but I do not think that is adequate at all.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a dark amber color. Has a hoppy brown malty taste. Grassy and easy smooth drinking with a nice aftertaste
2.9 Bottle into glass..dark orangish pour with..malty award aroma ..taste is light pine and mild hopps..pretty boring ipa
2.9 Under KBC label. Aroma of pine and citrus. Hazy orange in appearance..tan head fades quickly. Sweet malt up front...nice backbone. Follows with a citrus laced bitterness. Average in bite. Finishes with a nice balance of sweet and bitter....bitterness lingers a bit on the tongue. Not complex, but very solid for the price.
2.5 Aroma, hops, caramel, veggie. Appearance, clear copper ,decemt white head. Taste: basic ipa ,harsh, ash , flowers ,pine. Feel, medium low carbonation. Overall....so-so.
3.1 Bottle. Taste is light citrus, hay, hops, malt and grain. Decent IPA, but nothing unexpected here.
3.2 Had this on tap. Color was amber / brown. Slight head and malt aroma. Taste was banana like and can’t decide if this was intentional or the taps needed cleaning. Overall disappointing.
2.8 Copper pour with minimal head. Some hops and pale malt in the nose, with some yeast and hopcitrus in the taste, with a medium to light palate.
2.7 12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a medium white head. A light fruity nose with caramel. The flavor is mild fruity hops, super sweet grainy earthy malts. Odd. Lemons. Tea. Cost a buck.
