3.0Bottle 500ml;
Look: Clear chesnut/light-brown with a short lived off-white. Well carbonated.
Aroma: sweet malt, subtle hop
Taste: biscuit, subtle bitterness
Body: thin
Overall: nice, but I prefer it on draught
2.9500ml clear bottle from Waitrose, Epsom. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma of malt and biscuit. Similar taste. Thin bittersweet finish.
2.6Bottle 50cl a clear amber beer with low head. Nose on toasted caramel, aroma on caramel and toasted caramel, light hop resin, watery body, easy to drink.
4.5De Labirratorium.
3.0Dark amber color, small white head. Aroma of malt, grain, grassy hops, some citrusy and floral notes. Taste is lightly sweet and sour with subtle bitterness in finish, short aftertaste. Thin body and light carbonation. Fine beer for easy drinking.
2.8Amber colour, minimal head. Aroma of grains and light herbs. Sweet in the middle, bitter ending.
2.8A beer I've tried on a number of occasions both in bottle & from the cask. On this occasion it was from a warm bottle on the We Ferry cruising around Torbay harbour, with fresh fish & chips. Very enjoyable occasion, beer was passable, mostly toasted malt & caramel.
2.2Aroma : Not much...light toffee maltiness, with a slight fusty briny note. Taste : Body on the thin side of mrdium. Light bitter throughout. Only flavour of note is a light sweet malty toffee. Thin watery texture. Very average and dull!
3.0Bottle - darkish golden amber with only a little white lacing at top. Caramel, malty aroma. Ok mouthfeel. Caramel tasting though not overly sweet.
3.8Classic hoppy bitter. Staple drink without being amazing it is hard to find fault.
3.0Has it come to this? I generally avoid this in any pub with an alternative but this was a gift and I hoped the bottle might differ from the cask. Aroma is lightly malted with maybe a hint of sweet hop. Poured amber body with a diminishing lace head. Taste is medium sweet to bitter with an easy transition and a lingering duration. Palate is medium too with average carbonation and a drying finish. Okay I guess
3.0Combination of slight maltiness and hoppy bitterness.
2.6500ml bottle. Sweet taste of malt, caramel, toffee, light hops and fruit. Quite sweet for my palate. Was expecting more alcohol to offset the sweetness.
2.6An amber coloured ale with a white frothy head
Notes of citrus and citrus fruit cake
Bottle version from sharps brewery
3.1Tight light brown head left a spotty cover on a tea coloured still body.
Sweet, malt & spiced aroma.
Medium bodied, sharp on the front with a smoother back.
Well balanced tastes of malt, sweet stewed fruit, spices & tea tastes with lightly hopped finish.

2.5Bottle BBE in 11 months. Pours amber, slight beige head that leaves minor lacing but even that dissipates after a while. Aroma of caramel, malts, roastiness, light spicy hop. Low to moderate carbonation, fairly light body a little watery. Taste of toasted malts, sweetness, minor bitterness but no big flavours. I'm finding that some ales are understated but the sum of its parts combine to make a fine beer; other ales are just lacking. I think this is one of the latter.
3.3500ml can. Pours clear amber with an off white lasting head. Steady carbonation. Aroma is malty grainy dark cereal, walnut, burnt caramel and floral. Light, soft carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet malts, cereal biscuit, caramel, earthy, hint of treacle and light floral hops, perhaps a hint of lemon. No off flavours, inoffensive, Subdued , Low bitterness. Actually quite like this have avoided it for years as I assumed it was shit.
3.5Pours a clear, deep amber coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly grainy and toasted malt and grassy, herbal hops, with just a hint of citrus coming through. Taste is a good balance of biscuity, slighty toasted and grainy malt and grassy, herbal hops, with some citrus and just a hint of pine also coming through. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some biscuity, grainy malt and herbal, citrus hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and amedium carbonation.
This is a pretty mild, crisp and clean Bitter that's quite refreshing and easy-drinking, with a good balance of slightly toasted and grainy malt and grassy, herbal hops, with some lighter accents of citrus and pine adding a little zest here and adding to the refreshing feel of this.
3.6Pours clear amber with thin off-white head, some lacing. Earthy, biscuit aroma. Flavour is malt, honey, biscuit, light floral hops with mild bitterness and sweetness. The finish is earthy malt with some toffee notes. Strong carbonation, slightly thin mouthfeel.
3.1500ml bottle from Kaufland, drunk at home on a mild February evening. Clear amber, a brief, thin white head, scant lacing but a long-lasting stream of fast-rising carbonation. Straightforward caramel and malt biscuit on the nose. In the mouth, herbs and floral honey, stewed vegetables and toffee, mid bitterness, light to medium texture, enough sweetness to keep it in balance before a medium-length finish with a bit of brown sugar into the aftertaste. Old-school English Bitter done well.
2.6Can. Nose is caramel, sweet malt, slightly doughy, slight spice. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, slight dough, slight spicy herbal hops touch of toffee. Mouthfeel verging on thin.
It's a thing that exists.
3.5No-colour crystal bottle. Brownish pale beer with medium head. Both sweet and bitter hints at the taste. All in all good beer!
2.5Bottle from Tesco. Poured pale amber with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, hops, malt, fruit and stewed veg. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, watery texture, average carbonation. Better than some of the mass marketed bottled ales I suppose.
2.7Pleasant, but not much on offer here. Maybe one to start a session with friends. A palate warm up? Light, slightly malty, soft toffee-ish flavour. Thin, easy. Meh. But you know what, it's not bad, beers like this need to evolve somewhat thought. Much more to see out there in the beer world.
2.5Oct 2019 500ml clear glass bottle, filtered, at Frankie & Benny's - Doom Bar Amber Ale 4.3%. Chrissie nailed it when she called it a shandy. Meh.
4.0500ml can brewed in Burton upon Trent (not Cornwall!) at 4.3%. Moderate head, dissipating thoroughly even if not especially quickly. Amber colour, neither especially dark nor especially pale. Fruity aroma, with little if any citrus, instead here are hints of raspberry, strawberry and pear, with malt sweetness lurking. Medium carbonation. Flavour is toffee malt and non-citrus fruity malts, but both are more refined and delicate than shouty. There's a bitter nod at the end, but not much more than a nod. This is rather like a Hobgoblin that's been dialled back a few notches, whether for better or worse depending on the drinker - it does feel a more balanced brew though. The can says best served chilled, and despite that hindering the drinkability, it may just be the case. Sadly despite the Cornish branding the bottled/canned stuff is made in Burton upon Trent - do they even use the distinctive Cornish water? Ho hum. Went well with a pork chop.
2.6Ok amber ale
2.8Bottle. Clear amber orange. Nose is light caramel and spicy hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt and a touch of hops. Pretty boring.
