3.2 I had this at Global Brew. Pours yellow with a white head. Taste citrus, sweet. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.
4.1 The body has a bright yellow color which has good clarity and some visible carbonation. A tall bright white head sits on top and hangs on well. On the glass the head leaves decent lace patterns. It’s clean and light with pale biscuity malt and spicy floral hop notes. A clean and pale bready/biscuity malt lays down a good base for a tasty and delicate spicy/floral come through. The finish is clean and the palate is snappy and refreshing.
2.9 Rated on 7-26-2010 (Bottle) This beer forms a small creamy, smooth white head with a lengthy retention, transparent golden body, fast rising carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, crisp, grassy hops, sweet, and fruity. The taste is sweet, lightly bitter, malty, crisp, refreshing, and fruity. The palate is soft carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is very easy to drink and is a session, lawnmower beer.
3.0 pours a amber color with a medium sized white head with some lacing. the aroma is grains, citrus, bready. the taste is sweet with very minimal hops. not the best beer by shiner in my opinion but still worth a try.
2.9 12 oz bottle. Light clear amber pour. Thin white ring. Aroma of sweet kids cereal with a hint of citrus. Taste just like it smells. Sweet cereal malts and a hint of citrus. . Very light and refreshing. Thin and watery. Bittersweet dry finish.
2.6 Pours a pale golden orange. Aroma consists of bread, hay and that hint of Czech pils.
2.2 ted in 2010 (Backlog) - Yellow in color with a large white head. Aroma is of grain and corn. Taste is of light fruitiness and grain.
3.1 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a lighter amber color with good clarity. It’s darker than I expect from a Czech pilsner, though. The head is a two finger white shade with crappy retention - seriously I’m watching it fade away to nothing as we speak. Still, it leaves patchy rings of lacing on the glass. S: About bang-on what I expect from the style, no more, no less - grassy hops, minimal maltiness, and a touch of diacetyl. Quite pleasant, though I kind of want a bit more hoppiness here. T: The maltiness provides a touch of caramel at first: while it’s a bit unbefitting of the style, it does help balance the mild hoppiness, along with the diacetyl note. I enjoy the touches of citrus I find in the flavor profile. Decent, but a bit lacking in flavor. M: This is ridiculously clean and bone dry, but then again, that’s what the style dictates. On the other hand, it’s a bit too ’big’ feeling on the back end - this makes it seem more substantial, but harms drinkability somewhat. Honestly, I could use a bit more carbonation. O: It’s alright. The weak flavor holds it back more than anything. To be fair, though, I like my Czech pilsners hopped to fuck and back, so I can’t hold it against this brew too much. Don’t think I’d buy it again (if it appeared in a 6-pack), though.
3.0 (bottle) clear medium amber colour with a small white head; aroma of noble hops; clean, refreshing, simple flavour
3.0 Bottle, pours clear amber, medium white head, nice lacing. Aroma is hay, grass, grain. Flavor is the same, crisp, little sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, high carbonation
3.2 Pretty straightforward refreshing lawnmower. A little sweet, a little corny, but relatively refreshing and ok.
2.4 Pours clear amber with white head out of bottle. Grainy smell with slight hint of hops. Slight apple taste with hint of grass and hops. Nothing sticks out about this beer.
2.7 Aroma is malt forward. Pours a yellow with a rapidly dissipating white head. The taste is malty and a little skunky. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, ok but not anything special.
2.3 Light yet flavorful. Would prefer more carbonation. Clean finish. Recommend to try on a hot day. Refreshing.
1.9 Bottle. Corn and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with large head. Mildly sweet corn/barley malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor.
2.1 Dark amber-gold with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma is slightly sour grain malt. Taste is slightly bitter grain, hops. Overall, pretty bland.
2.6 Bottle from a mixed six pack. Pour has a medium golden color and a light coating of white head that fell off. Aroma has very light malt and a touch of grains. Not much there. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation average. Flavor again has light malt and not much more out side of the grainy twang.
2.5 12 oz bottle poured into my Funkwerks glass. Golden-amber and clear with a small off-white head and light patchy lacing. Toasted grainy aroma. Light body with a clean and crisp feel. Pilsener malty flavor with light bitterness. Not too good, but actually a relief after experiencing the Blonde and Kosmos.
2.2 Very little aroma, cloudy yellow pale color. Somewhat dry, not strong at all. Not really refreshing for a pilsner,
2.9 Pours gold, thin white head, lots of bubble steams. cereal, bread, floral, slight metal. lightly bitter, lightly sour, a bit savory. light body, thin feel, fizzy, dry.
3.5 Golden color, large foaming head. This has all the elements of a good pilsner, but it just doesn’t get there. The malts are dry, hops are omnipresent, fermentation is clean. But there’s a sour tanginess to the malts, a metallic edge to the hop bitterness.
3.0 12 ounce bottle from sampler. Pours a golden color with a nice two inch white head that lasts. Taste is of malt, caramel, grain, hops, fruit, grapefruit and citrus. Similar, but cleaner aroma. The body is full and wet. Has a touch of bitterness and dryness in the finish. Easy to drink and rather enjoyable. Well worth having again.
3.3 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized extremely light white colored bubbles that were and left behind a typically carbonated transparent light orange colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was malty musty and lagerish. The semi-thick mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of hops and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
3.1 Pours a clean, golden color, lots of carbonation and a nice white head to top it off. Clean pils malt nose, light spiciness to it. Flavor was pretty grainy with a mild flowery middle and a stronger spicy hops finish. Body is very light with lots of fizz, making it a very crisp feeling beer. Overall a pretty good brew. Hops could of been a tad bit more pronounced as they were hard to find.
2.7 The description is pretty accurate. This beer isn’t easy, and apparently it was too difficult for Shiner. Weak, lacking the full bodied character of a real pils. The hop choice was okay, though slightly stale.
2.4 Bottled. Your standard gold pilsner with some light grassiness. Pretty much what you’d expect.
2.6 A fun, light hearted beer with not a lot of characteristics that jump out. Well blended but simple.
2.4 From notes. 12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours amber with some thick white head. Aroma of fermented fruit and yeast. Taste is somewhat fruity but pretty much watered down. Thin texture and fizzy carbonation. Not my favorite Shiner. Hoping 102 will be better.
3.7 12oz bottle,straw in color,dense head A:honey,pils malt/grain T:pils/grainy malt Overall a very tasty pilsner.
3.0 Clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma of pale malt and slight hops. The taste is pretty much the same. Light body. Decent beer, no off flavors and crisp. Not crazy special though. Still, pretty damn good for Shiner.
