2.7 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: great rocky white head, does not diminish, yellow-orange, cloudy, hazy, poor lacing. Aroma: heavy yeast, leaves, banana, mildly malty, hay. Palate: light body, thin oily texture, soft carbonation, wheat finish. Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, slightly salty, very slight spice taste. Overall, not anything to rave about, though it is drinkable.
2.9 Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a hazy gold with a thin head, the aroma is a little bit of wheat and some banana, the flavor has a little bit of fruit and banana with clove but nothing crazy, pretty light mouthfeel, ugh, give me a Dancing Man to help me believe in hefe’s again.
3.2 Bottle. Body was thinner than I like. However, some notes of wheat, bread, banana. Easy to drink. Nice flavors.
2.7 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy dark gold. Aroma of yeast, banana, and a bit of citrus. Taste is just like nose. Citrus rinds, orange peel, banana, and wheat. Light and watery body. Good carbonation. Definitely not memorable.
2.3 Pours a cloudy orange. Notes if lemon and some citrus. Honestly it tastes infected.
3.5 On tap. Pours a cloudy yellow orange with a thin white head. Aroma of bready malt, light spices. Flavor of bready malt, light malt, sweet fruit. Decent hefe, pretty simple, sweet. 7/4/6/4/14 (3.5/5)
2.1 I would say a good attempt at a hefe but not quite there. Fizzy with a hint of the banana yeast. Drinkable but not the best hefe out there.
3.2 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours an extremely hazy straw color. Good head on this one - about two fingers high, white in shade, and quite creamy looking. It ultimately settles to about a finger high, and leaves a bit of lacing on the glass as well. S: The orange and lemon peel are very forward in their nature. There’s also a notable candied sugar character, along with some coriander, clove, and bubblegum. This one seems to feature a lot of witbier elements along side the usual (if muted) hefeweizen notes. T: I have no idea why Shiner wants you to put a lemon wedge in this one, because the lemon and orange notes on the opening are quite strong. Honey pops up in the finish, along with some subtle spicing. If anything, this is more witbier than hefeweizen (or even APWA) to me. M: While there’s good crispness to the body, I think it’s a bit too sweet on the finish (which seems to be commonplace in many Shiner brews). On the other hand, the lack of notable astringency helps give it a soft feel, and it seems to dry up slightly as it gets warm. O: This is pretty solid as long as you don’t expect a true hefeweizen. As a generic wheat, or as a warm-weather refresher, it’s honestly really good; it’s just not much of a ’hefewelzen’.
2.9 Bottle. P pours hazy golden yellow with a large white caddy head, good lacing. Aroma is wheat, yeast, cardboard. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, orange zesty. Lit body, high carbonation.
3.1 Pours cloudy gold with large white head out of bottle. Citrus and wheat aroma. Zesty flavor with smooth finish. Good beer.
3.3 Im not a wheat beer fan, but if I want a hefeweizen, this would be my go-to beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.5 Has a very sweet fruity and wheat taste and smell. It had a half a finger head with lacing. It represents the style well. One of my go to beers when I want a hefe
3.4 355ml bottle from a publix in Kissimmee Florida. Hazed golden with a lasting white head. Wheaty citrus aroma. The flavour is similar. A lightly fruity off dry wheat ale. Not a classic hefe but not a bad beer. I’d have this again. FLVC2 #16
2.7 Bottle from a mixed six pack. Pour has a lightly clouded bright golden color and a covering of white head that stuck around a while. Aroma has banana yeast, wheat, and some grainy bitterness. Mouth feel is medium light and the carbonation medium low. Flavor has bitter wheat, yeast, and grass.
1.8 Bottle. Aroma of bland malts and an unclear sweet smell. Tastes bland, has an unsavory sweetness to it with an overall taste of crap wheat and has a funky sour note to the end of it. As I’m drinking it, I don’t want to say it’s awful, but then when you break it down it sort of is. We’ll call it greater than the sum of its parts, and just say it’s better than Miller Lite and be done, k? 5.28% alcohol.
2.3 A cloudy, lemon yellow body with a thin, soapy head. The aroma is really subtle. There is a little citrus and hops, not much else. The flavor is fairly weak. There’s a bit of pungent hops in the middle of the sip and a little citrus in the close, but not a lot else. This beer is not among Shiner’s best and not a great example of the style.
3.2 Hazy, straw yellow. Grassy aroma with a lemon - pepper taste. Pretty sharp for a Hefe but not bad.
2.7 12 oz bottle poured into my Funkwerks glass. Golden-orange and cloudy with one finger of spotty white foam. The aroma is sweet and fruity with orange peel, wheat malts and yeast. Pretty light body with a crisp feel. Yeasty, fruity, sweet flavor with a dry bitter finish. Kind of refreshing, but pretty bland overall.
3.1 No bottling information. Appearance: The body leans a bit orange with pale straw on the edges with a very cloudy appearance. The white head is tall and fluffy with decent retention, it settles into a thin coating with a creamy ring. Aroma: This is a tart aroma, sort of like hair gel actually. Citrus is strong here with a touch of banana. I’m not huge on this. Taste: The flavor is a touch sweet with citrus and the wheat lending a mild flavor until the finish which reminds me of orange juice. The orange juice isn’t overwhelming, but it’s prominent and a tad tart. Palate: Creamy and full bodied with lively carbonation. Overall: This is sort of good, but the aroma is odd and smells like LA Looks hair gel at times. Too much citrus for me and not enough yeast presence. This isn’t bad, especially for the price, but I wouldn’t buy it again.
2.4 cloudy yellow, white head. mild citrus, wheat, malt, orange, bread. medium-light bodied, active carb. better than expected, honestly
2.5 Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Aroma of wheat, orange peel and spice. Taste follows nose way too sweet.
3.1 Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with small whitish foamy head, fresh citrus aroma, fizzy carbonation, slightly bitter citrus flavour, long finish with a bite. Has more bite than a regular hefeweizen.
3.8 Pours a pale yellow color with a decent head on it as you take in the slight scent of wheat. The taste is very mellow and smooth which makes for some very easy drinking. Something that would go well in the summer for those hot days.
3.4 one of the first beers i had that i noticed had flavor. i don’t drink this anymore but it was a breath of fresh air, i remember the upside down face label, i miss that.
2.5 Slightly hazy apricot color with finger and a half of foam with good retention. Yeast smell that isn't too strong. Taste is not complicated with some bitterness and warm bread aftertaste. Crisp, light taste with adequate carbonation. Not bad.
2.3 Hazy yellow color with white head. Smell is malt with a little citrus. Taste is bread with some citrus and little metallic after taste. High carbonation. Didn't really enjoy but drinkable.
2.6 Appearance is cloudy light orange. Aroma is citrusy. Citrus continues in the taste with a pronounced honey flavor that seems to add some body. Nothing special, but not a bad Hefe.
2.4 Cloudy unfiltered orange color with small white foam head. Aroma is malty with citrus and orange. Taste is orange, no beer taste actually. Bit prickling, high carbonation. Short aftertaste. (Houston 201301)
2.8 Not a bad beer, not a great beer, somewhere in the middle... A little crisp, hoppy, citrus taste. Would be good with a meal. Not a beer I would turn down, not one I would seel out.
1.2 Watery mouthfeel, sterile appearance, off aroma. Metallic, almost barfy regurgitated orange int he flavor. Shitty beer.
