1.6 Drink a regular shiner and just skip the greasy bar food if calories are your concern. I would just as well drink a Natty Light. Don’t do this to yourself, you deserve better.
2.7 Slightly dark straw colored pour. Small white head. Fades superfast, leaves no lacing. Slight malt aroma and toffee. Carbonic bite, sweet malty - albeit watered down - flavor. Middle of the road offering. Would be nice for a barbecue.
2.5 Surprisingly good for a light beer. If I was actually a light beer drinker I’d be all over this.
2.3 Pours a white head with a dark golden body. Smells of malt and a hint of hops. Malty flavor and mouthfeel with ever so slight pine hop. Decent for a light
2.0 Pours amber, not the straw yellow one might expect. Closer to their Bock. All I get is watery corn and some sweetness with carbonation. Yuck. Pretty plain and flaccid.
3.0 Very reminiscent of Point Lager, not horrible, a little hops, a little malts, a good thirst quencher.
3.0 Bottle: Poured a clear golden color with thin white head. Aroma is sweet grass and malt. Taste is a nice carbonated malt sweet on the tongue and long lasting.
2.5 Part 4 of Shiner variety pack. Pours light amber--much darker than you’d expect from a light lager. Similar aroma to Shiner Bock and Kosmos, just weaker presence, tougher to find. Head is big bubbles, peaks at 1" or so, then descends into the usual light lager flat-top. This is actually a fine beer, especially for a light. Touch of caramel is about the only discernible flavor other than corn. A good alternative to BMC lights, but again, nothing special, and I probably won’t buy it again. The thinness/watery side comes through in the finish, where everything just goes away.
2.7 A clear golden pour with white head. The aroma is mostly faint grains. The light body has a thin texture and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with a quick, clean finish. Too watery for me.
2.7 Shiner Light. Yeah, that Blonde is just too big and bold for me sometimes. Filtered tan color, respectable head. Macro corny brewery smell. Wow, this sort of sucks. Has a touch of amber malt or something. Some twisted down and broken fruity Ale tones. Faint bitter hop balance. Gross, weak malt liquor aftertaste. Unimpressive.
2.0 Gold color. Grain and hops aroma. Taste is sweet malt, corn, grassy hops. Clean and crisp, very drinkable. As far as light beer goes, it’s pretty good. Overall however, pretty blah...but what do you expect.
3.0 I wasn’t expecting much out of this brew simply because it is from Texas and there aren’t too many things from Texas that I can say I like. Surprisingly, it wasn’t bad. Light and refreshing. Very drinkable. I just cracked open the Shiner sampler pack so we’ll see how this turns out.
2.9 Surprisingly a good light beer. Pours yellow with a little head. Nice flavor for this type of beer. Actually one of my favorite lights!
2.0 Clear straw golden with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up light honey and pale malts with mild accents of earthy hoppage The flavor found mostly pale malt, a hint of sweet honey.. grainy sugars around along with some bitterness as an afterthought. Light-bodied and somewhat watery
1.9 Poured a very light yellow with a large foamy white head. Aroma is very skunky with rice. Some hops present, but I can tell this will not be memorable. Very watery with little flavor. There are some malt flavors present, but it finishes with an awful soapy metallic finish. Not a very good beer. It brings sad feelings to my heart.
2.0 (12oz bottle) clear rich orange, lasting wispy bubbles. Nose of honey, old grain, some stink, chemicals, and metal. Taste of metal, honey, spoiled milk, tart like yogurt, old grain. Just nasty. Fake force carbonation. Bad linger.
2.1 Thanks chad. no really, thanks. tastes like bad tap water. wet grains, wet dog, wet sadface.
1.8 Serving: 12 oz. bottle from a mix six pack . Aroma: The nose has a light skunk aroma and really nothing else. Odd. Appearance: It pours a light amber color with a small, foamy, white head. Lesser head retention, but then I wasn’t expecting much. Taste: There is a very light grain and fruity note. Not much else. Pretty flavorless, but not that offensive. Palate: Light and watery in terms of body with average carbonation leading to a short, tasteless finish. Overall: I would call it a watered down Shiner Bock. Pretty tasteless and not worth trying.
1.7 It’s better than most light beers, and worse than most not light beers....... Clear, pale amber color with almost no head whatsoever. Smells like a slightly malted pale lager and tastes like a slightly malted pale lager. Tastes decent for the style, but still really watery with no finish.
3.3 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a shaker pint glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date. Appearance: This beer has a very clear straw yellow color with a light soapy head on top that quickly dissipates. Only a small ring of bubbles is left and lacing is nil. Smell: The aroma is light clean and a little bready with the slightest hint of grassy hops. Taste/Palate: It’s simple, clean and light bodied. Light bready maltiness brings mild sweetness for the light hops to balance. The texture is light and well carbonated but not overly fizzy. Notes: For a Light Lager this one is not bad at all just a little boring but so is the style really.
2.4 The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is strong grain with nothing else being present. The flavor is better than the aroma, but is still nothing special. I get some grain and wheat, as well as some sweet malt and some grassy hops. Medium carbonation and light mouthfeel. Not terrible, but nothing worth seeking out unless you really like light lagers.
2.1 Bottled. Poured clear straw golden with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up light honey and pale malts with mild accents of earthy hoppage.. not bad, but not a whole lot going on. The flavor found mostly pale malt at the core, retaining a hint of sweet honey.. grainy sugars around along with some bitterness as an afterthought.. disappeared quickly off the back of the palate. Light-bodied and somewhat watery on the palate.. very drinkable, but that’s about it.
2.8 Clear light golden with a fizzy white head. Very faint malt aroma. Taste of malt with mild brassy notes.
1.9 Clear gold. Small head. Faded malt, spent hops, light aroma of dirty socks and white bread. Flavor is pretty nasty. Skunky malts and old worn out hops. Move along. They make better light beers in Oklahoma. I kid, I kid. Or am I joking?
2.4 From the bottle into my fancy-pants Samuel Adams 25th Anniversary superglass. Is it the glass, or is this a good looking beer? Gold with a thick white head, great carbonation and long retention. Is it the glass, or does this actually have a mild barleymalt grain aroma? Is it the glass, or does this beer actually have a bit of flavor, perhaps even a fruity note and a banana finish? Perhaps this is the best light beer out there. Naw, must be the shoes.
2.3 There was a time on this site when the style that we call pale lager now was split into two distinct halves. One was American standard and the other was American light. We have adopted the new standard to be more international, which is understandable, and in the process the lighter beers got lumped in w/ the stronger ones and thus my favorite style has been polluted by light beer water. This one is not so bad. It pours the standard yellow w/ a foamy head that lasts decently well but leaves no lace. It actually has a fuller flavor than a lot of non-light American lagers. There is little in the nose but it’s actually kind of sweet and malty. It your style-standard mix of cereal grains and very light noble-ish hop presence. The palate is a downside as this is overcarbonated to the point where it has a negative affect on drinkability but at least it is not boring and flat which kill this kind of beer. Flavorwise, this is in border territory between the two former style pale lager was split into and is as good an argument as any as to why they should be combined.
1.8 12oz bottle. Pours a nice amber color with very fizzy carbonation and a head that dissipates instantly. Smells of corn, malts, and slightly of hay-ish hops. Not much taste to it, that is for sure. Almost like someone took a Shiner Bock and poured water into it.
3.3 Not as "light" as you might expect from a "light" beer. Definitely a Shiner product. Beautiful color, and very enjoyable.
2.5 Light yellow pour. Grain, malt, slight sweetness and hops. Easy drinking, much like water.
2.5 Okay, pleasant sweet grass smell. Looks nice. Tastes a little too sweet/malty with am earthy aftertaste. Not a repeater.
