2.6 Bottled. A golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of straw, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.
3.0 cloudy yellow, small white head. aroma is herbal, malty, slightly flowery, flavor is malty, only slightly wheaty, flowery and with a good bitterness.
3.0 Bottle@yesprs - Clear golden pour with thin white head. Aroma and taste is fruity lemon citric, light malty and wheaty, herbal and floral hoppy notes, ok.
3.1 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity and slight toasted malty. Fruity. Peachy and slight toasted malty. Dry and slight base malty. Bitter and dry herbal into the finish.
3.1 33 cl. bottle. Hazy golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, hops, fruit, spice and yeast.
1.0 Not at all what I was expecting or hoping for from shiner tasted burnt and not good at all
3.4 Bottle poured a hazy gold wth a small lingering white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, coriander and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast, coriander and a hint of citrus with a smooth dry lingering coriander finish.
2.0 Sample from bottle. Poured a slight hazed yellow with small foamy white head. Aromas of coriander, lemon, and hay. Flavor followed the nose. Light body, thin texture, pretty lively carbonation. Easy finish. Nothing great.
2.7 Bottle from Wegman’s. Pours clear gold with splotchy white head. Nose is pale malt, hopcitrus, coriandery spice, white pepper. Tastes of pale malt, white pepper, lime, heavy coriander. Watery finish.
3.5 On tap at bowsers. Very good from the start, I was impressed by its civility. Nice white beer. Some fruit like orange candy aroma. First taste is a beer with lots of orange in there, surprised its not mentioned in the description. Good cutting co2. Goes down really easy. Quite pleasant. I always get well behaved beers from shiner and this is no exception.
3.2 Bottle in San Antonio. Nose some banana, light Belgian ester, but a hint of underlying vegetal funk. Taste light spice, clove, not much fruit flavor. Don’t get much of the funk from the nose in the taste. Hint of orange in the finish.
2.8 Sweetish coriander soup. Light spicy finish and a hit of sugary malt. Not bad, actually, for a macro wit, but nothing to make it stand out either.
3.9 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, orange peel, pear, apple, light banana, coriander, clove, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, orange peel, pear, apple, light banana, coriander, clove, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange peel, pear, apple, light banana, coriander, clove, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a very nice witbier style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.2 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium, mousy, well retained white head, with minimal lacing, over a hazy yellow (SRM 3) body......nose is light lemon, orange from the additives, light wheat, very slight herbal hop notes, balanced......taste is slightly sweet, with lemon, coriander, orange, light wheat cereal notes, becoming dry, with light hops bitterness.....mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, carbonation makes a creamy mouthful. This is a quite good rendition of this style. It is quite light, refreshing, and easy to drink. As is true of Witbier, it is not particularly complex beyond the base additives. I would like a slightly bigger body. BJCP 9/3/15/5/7
2.8 Bottle. Slightly hazy light gold / yellow pour with a white head. Huge coriander bomb on the aroma. Thinner, syrupy sweet on the tongue. This isn’t bad, but it’s not too good, either.
2.6 Appearance: light yellow, a bit hazy, short fizzy white head. Aroma: light citrus, some wheat. Taste: some lemon zest, a bit of orange rind too, some light wheat and corn. Finish: short, crisp, a tad zingy. Notes: Not a great example of the style. Bottle at Rudy’s BBQ in El Paso, Texas.
2.5 Cousin Larry’s review made me laugh, in part cause there’s truth to it. Weak feel for sure. Citrusy sweetness and a light spice. Pretty boring, even for 1.49.
2.1 Watery watery watery watery watery watery watery watery watery watery watery watery orange peel
3.5 Yellow pour with tight white head and lace. Aroma is wheaty malt, coriander and light orange zest. Flavor is flat semi sweet malt the coriander with a citrus zing. Flat wheat bitter and a tinge of zest. Light body with aggressive carbonation. Refreshing and clean. Ok by me
3.0 Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Aroma of coriander, wheat, lemon and orange. Flavor was slightly sweet with wheat, orange, coriander and had a touch of lemon.
2.2 Pours a thin head on a cloudy light straw body. The aroma is mild honey and grain. The taste is watery, mild honey sweet, the faintest touch of lemon. Not much. The texture is crisp and thin. Not much of anything here.
3.0 Sample at 69 Taps. Cloudy straw color with a medium thin bright white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of herbs, wheat and malt. Light-bodied with an herbal wheat character and notes of fruit and malt. The finish is mildly spicy coriander with a short wheaty aftertaste. Average overall.
3.1 Pours hazy golden with a puffy beige head, very good retention. Aromas of bread, orange, caramel, coriander. Light body, smooth and creamy. Lightly sweet, a hint of tartness, light bitter finish. Quaffable and nice.
3.2 12oz draft at Drafting Table in DC. Poured a hazy, vibrant yellow color with a large foamy white head. Aroma was lots of lemon notes, some zest, lemon juice. Coriander. Flavor was similar too, lots of coriander, lemon. Nothing super special, but refreshing enough I guess.
2.1 Drank from a pint poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours golden, with little carbonation and little head. Aromas of orange. Tastes very watery, with a bit of a kick in the end...
3.4 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a pretty good aroma of hops and wheat with a touch of citrus. Appearance- A hazy yellow with a small white head. Taste- This beer had a weak hop flavor that did not meet expectations. Palate- A light bodied beer with moderate carbonation with a semi-dry finish. Overall- The most disappointing Spoetzel beer I have tried. I am a big fan of this brewer and this beer just did meet my expectations.
4.1 I like it. No need for the ridiculous chunk of orange needed to drink shock top.
2.1 Sampled from a bottle bought at Champanes, this ale had a light orange and yellow pour with a bunch of particles, and gave a small white, fizzy cover that receded to a thin layer and ring, the nose had aromas of wheat, malt and grain, lemon and orange, some malt sweetness, coriander spice with a little pepper, flavors of coriander and spice with some wheat and malt a little light fruit in the background, it had some sweetness, the mouth feel was light and a little fizzy, a light malt and wheat beer with spice that wasn’t overbearing but very noticeable, I think the coriander gave a pepper note on the nose, a little more beer aroma and flavor would help.
2.4 12 fl oz bottle. Clear paler orange, fading off-white foam. Fruity yeasty banana aroma. Oily soapy fruity wit taste, some zest and spices. Soft carbonation, light-medium bodied, low hopped. Fail. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
3.4 Nice and soft. Easy to drink. Very thing and cloudy. Refreshing and enjoyable too with some food.
