Shiner Wild Hare Pale Ale

Shiner Wild Hare Pale Ale

Wild Hare is a classic American Pale Ale-richly hopped, fruity and floral. Munich malt nicely balances the assertive character of the U.S. Golding and Bravo hop varieties that give this brew its signature bitterness and aroma. Enjoy!

2.6 Bottle. Pours dark orange with thin white head that lingers. Dull aroma over medium carbonation. A decent pale ale. Sam Adams style.
3.6 Pours a clear amber color with a thick off white head that left plenty of lacing around the glass. The aroma is mixed between some hops and breadiness. I also pick up some fruit in this as well. The taste is very bready with some mild fruit. I do pick up a little bit of floral hops but its rather faint.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with a foamy white head. Aroma is grainy with a hoppy edge. Flavor is also grainy bitter with a hoppy touch.
3.0 Pours a clear amber color with white head. Well balanced, but rather average beer
3.0 Floral hoppy malt aroma with a zesty character. Thin head on a deep amber body. Mild dry bitterness. Caramel malt base. Clean finish.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a thick white head. Too foamy really after the pour, had to wait a bit for it to dissipate. I loved the aroma, as the hops come out nicely. There is not much flavor from the hops though and this seems more like an England style pale ale as it is more toward the malt side with some creaminess on the palate. Nothing spectacular here just kind of average but I thought some good flavor for the price. The finish was had a bit of a bite to it.
3.4 Rated based on notes taken 22 Oct 2012 -- I really enjoyed this ale from Shiner. I really liked the commercials as well, I miss them.
2.6 Amber. Fruity nose. Taste- Caramel malt and fruity berry notes. Light hops. Not your typical pale ale. Ok.
3.2 Purchased in Vermont, part of their tester mixed-pack. Pours a clean golden-amber colour with a warm creamy cap, good retention and lots of sticky lacing. Malty nose with biscuit, fruity malts, mild caramel, yeast and hints of bananas. Flavours of light roasted malts, bread and again, banana notes. Smooth mouthfeel. One of their better brews so far.
3.1 Bottle from Beer Culture New York City September 2013. This is a well balanced beer with hops and malt sharing equal billing.
1.8 Floral hoppy beer. Unsat. Lauren likes it (she is crazy).
2.8 12oz screw top bottle. Pours a golden amber with a decent off white head. Wasn’t expecting much and didn’t really get much to be honest. Tasted like macro swill for the most part.
2.0 Terrible. Where are the hops? Biscuity malts that are muddled, not even pleasant. Tasted like a poorly done amber ale. Really dark for a pale ale.
2.3 Bottle. Clear orange body, gold-tinted head that settles quickly without leaving lace. Subtle marmalade hop character, sweet grainy body, very watery. There’s no way such a bodiless beer can be 5.7%?
2.9 Light amber with a thick meringue head, some lacing, and a hoppy, sweet nose. Well-carbonated intro with a thin, watery mouthfeel and a mildly hoppy finish.
2.9 Dark amber body with thick head. Aromas cereal, bread, honey and grass. Taste is quite bitter, slightly sweet and sour.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with a white, fizzy head. Light, hoppy aroma with a malt presence as well. Hoppy taste with some light tart and floral notes. Could use some more hops, but not too bad.
2.0 Pours a dark amber with a thick white head. Aroma is sweet, malty with a hint of something funkier...earthy and rotten fruit. Taste is sweet malt at first and then the hoppiness takes over. Unfortunately the citrus hoppiness is not there...it’s more earthy...English-like. Not very good at all.
3.3 This beer is amber with ample carbonation to diffuse its several aromas of hops. The malt is a good mixture producing a medium body and an adequate base for what is a high hop level from Shiner, but really moderate. My complaint is that the hop blend seems to strive for an English quality without achieving it and leaving an astringency in the finish. The beer is reminiscent of a couple of offerings from Samuel Adam’s and goes well with heavy foods.
2.7 Barely perceptible aroma of orange peel. Hazy copper, thick lacy head. Tea with a hint of meringue at midpalate. Weak.
3.2 Not a lot of bitterness. A little fruity flavor. Good balance and pretty smooth. Nice Amber color.
3.1 Bottle. Pours amber orange with a frothy white head. Aroma of caramel, floral hops, bread and citrus. Flavor of citrus, caramel, floral, earth and had a touch of grapefruit.
3.5 I had this at Global Brew. Pours orangish with a white head. Taste Carmel, sweet. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.
2.7 The smell of a normal beer, nothing fancy. Where are the hops? Where is the bitterness? Not even a hint of citrus. Reminds me of a Budweiser. Disappointing but not offensive.
3.0 NicE buzzy feel. Simple grains. Cumulous malty loftiness.. Good color and thickness. No strong aroma.
3.0 Pours a medium amber with dark orange hues with a frothy head. Aromas of light hay, slight grass, light caramel and slight dark fruit. Flavors of light caramel, light grass/hay and just a hint of toffee. Medium sweet with a medium bodied mouth feel. Is more on the malty side.
3.4 12oz into a glass. Pours an amber, carrot, rust. Lacing is upfront and coats nicely, head is 1/2cm, light and bubbly. Aroma is orange, autumn leaves and must filled hops. Taste is tangy hops, buttermilk for some reason, orange grove, and medium hops. Not so bad, I was surprised its at 5.7%, seems more lightweight than that. One is good .
3.0 Bottle from a mixed-sixer. Pours out a light honey amber color. Decent carbonation with light tan head. Smooth and malty flavors. Good balance. Not that bad, actually.
2.2 Bottle in SA. Not much to write about. Does not really live up to the pale ale title. Light on hops and you can taste the malt. Not very good, although flavorful.
3.1 12oz bottle pours a pale amber color with a fizzy white head that fades and leaves light soapy like lacing smells of straw, citrus, and light pine. Tastes of the same things with a slight metallic and some caramel flavor. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with good carbonation. Nice for the heat of Texas and summers elsewhere. Nothing special as far as pale ales go though.
