3.1 Deep golden pour with a thin white head. The aroma is softly sweet and fruity. Has a little bit of light apple and a touch of softly sweet pale crystal malt. Clean tasting, slightly fruity and pretty well-balanced. It's a simple blonde ale, but gets the job done. Pretty nice yeast character.
3.2 Rating #2727 - 01.12.2017 - Beer 1 of the 2017 Craft BeerAdvent Calendar Golden colour with a billowy white head. Perfumy noble hop aroma. Sweet, medium bodied with creamy mouthfeel. Balanced, lovely aromatics, decent carbonation. Crushable blonde.
3.3 12 oz bottle poured at home. Day 1 of the craft beer advent calendar. Pours copper with an off white head. Smells like grains and lemon. Tastes like caramel. Underwhelming.
3.2 12oz brown bottle. Clear golden with a thin layer of white head. Aroma - fruity, malty, caramel, light citrus hops. Taste - caramel, fruity notes of apricot and citrus. Light bitterness and citrus after taste with a bit of wheat malt. A lightish sessionable ale, not too bad.
3.0 This is the first surprise from the beer advent calendar of 2017. The aroma is grains, and biscuits, light lemon, and straw. Taste is grains, bread, corn and a touch of caramel. Not a great start to the advent calendar.
2.8 355ml bottle @ Matt;s. Pours a crystal clear copper colour with a tiny white head. Aroma is semi sweet bready malt and corn. Flavour is similar, a semi sweet mild malt with that light corn character and finishes somewhat bitter. Nothing special.
2.9 Bottle - Cooked orange with a touch of vanilla. Clear gold with a small white head. Bready and light cooked orange.
2.4 12 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is lightly sweet, with bready malt, corn and straw. Flavour is similar, with straw, light corn and sweet bready malt. Weak and cheap-tasting, but clean enough. Meh.
2.1 Not a bad golden ale. Very dry, effervescent and it has a tiny bit of caramel sweetness. Tried for the first time in 2009.
2.7 Bottle. Clear golden amber pour without much head, super carbonated. Aroma is sweet caramel and a touch metallic. Taste is less sweet, a little grainy, same caramel and metallic notes.
2.8 355ml bottle. Pours a clear gold-orange with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Mild aroma of grainy malt and caramel. Sweet flavour of wheat malt, caramel and a hint of orange with a dry, bitter grass finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Ok.
3.5 From old tasting notes. Amber gold color. Bubbly white head.Spicy hop nose. Zesty toasted malt flavor with a pleasantly complex hop finish. Nice clinging lace.
2.0 Draft. Hadn’t drank one in yrs. Sale do figured would try another to rate. Looks good. Tastes awful. Not sure how shipyard still in business
3.2 (Tap) clear, bright golden colour with a small white head; aroma starts with dough, then jam, hint of roast; clean flavour with a long, light bitter finish. Lively representation of this generally boring variety.
3.7 Poured from a cold bottle into a glass. Clear golden amber appearance. Quickly dissipating haed. Very palatable to drink. Bit watery.
2.9 Bottle from Chevy Chase Wine and Liquor. Dark amber body with slight head. Nose is floral, hops. Taste hoppy, slightly spicy. A bit unbalanced and sweet. Creamy in the finish.
3.8 Bottle from the sampler case. Pours with a beautiful head. The taste and balance is very good. You will like this beer.
2.8 Nice full flavor... Slightly sweet in the at first but full flavor at the end
1.9 Tap at Luke’s lobster in DC. In Mason jar. Copper with small white head. Smells of cheap grain, and taste is similar. Sweet and some malt there. Pretty below average.
3.5 bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Nearly clear dark amber with a head that drops to a light cover, strips of lace. Taste is caramel malt that grows into a medium fizzed swallow, the malt continuing to grow until light hops enter to keep things in check. A "plain-jane" brew, but awfully easy to drink.
2.8 Pours copper with a thin fading white head. Aroma of wheat and metallic "dirt " for lack of a better image. Taste of classic Pilsner with a tang of dry wheat. Dry finish in the mouth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
2.3 I waited a month or two before drinking so the oxidation might me my fault. The skunky smell and average taste are all Shipyard’s fault. Too sweet of a start and too bitter a finish. Bad combo.
3.0 Had a can on the Amtrak to portland. I haven't seen this anywhere else. Solid flavor and head. High alcohol content. I would drink it again. Maybe on tap somewhere?
2.9 Poured a copper hue with a thin white head which was gone in a hurry......aroma of touch of pine, sweet malt......taste is pine and malt up front with a fair mouthfeel, then it is gone and a thin body and bitterness show up to give it a weak back end. I liked where it started, but not where it ended.
3.3 Clear orange pour from draft at shipyard in Portland Maine airport. Dank fruits and malty earthy and bitter. Just ok
3.3 Good beer. Nicely bitter. Its dark gold color got my attention. Very enjoyable.
2.1 This was a disappointment usually I enjoy ale’s, Too bitter with a lingering after taste, but if that is what they were going for then they got it right.
3.8 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 1/8/2016. Pours slightly hazy deep golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, light fruitiness, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced pale malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon, cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, light fruitiness, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, cracker, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very good English pale ale style. All around good robustness and balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
3.1 12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a clear copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma is bitter and grainy. The taste is more of the grainy bitterness. Just a touch floral. Medium body Nd medium carbonation.
3.1 Bottle. Golden amber color with good white head. Aroma: citrus, floral and fruity hops, malt and white bread. Taste: light, clean and refreshing, watery, white bread, some citrus acidity, fruits with shortbread, dry aftertaste.
