Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA

Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA

Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA is the genesis of a new generation of IPA. The traditional elements of classic English IPA have been redefined by American craft beer innovation. Like the image suggests, Monkey Fist is edgy, aggressive, and unique in style. This beer is brilliant copper in color and exploding with Chinook and Cascade hop character but able to maintain a beautiful balance. Monkey Fist holds up to the spiciest foods or is delicious savored just on its own. And, in case you didn’t know, a Monkey Fist is the knot tied at the end of a sailor’s rope to serve as a weight and make it easier to throw. Cheers!

2.8 Bottled 0,355L. Much elegant and nice aspect, reddish bright amber color, lively and bubbly with creamy head duration. Burned and smokey aroma with caramel malt and sour cortex. Strong bitterish and alcoholic impact, much fraught mouth with overbanding sweetish final.
3.3 Draught. Clear dark amber with very small frothy whitish head, very faint piney aroma, medium carbonation, bitter grassy hops taste, thin body, long bitter finish. Classic IPA, decent.
3.0 Draft. Pours copper color with off-white head. Pine hop aroma. Pine hops with bready malt backbone.
2.9 35,5 cl bottle - bbd = 08/2015 Kept up really good, Amber colour, rather dry mouthfeel.
3.5 Copper color. Average head and body. Little aroma. Hop bitterness from first taste to aftertaste.
3.0 Just okay IPA. A bit on heavy malty side. Some bite but not really much distinguishable hop character. Okay.
3.7 Amber pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is light resins hops with a bready malt kicker. Flavor is semi sweet malt with floral and resins hops. Medium body with smooth carbonation followed by a solid resiny bitter finish.
3.3 Tap outside on the patio of Porthole in Portland, ME. Plastic glass. Orange and golden in color. Citrus on the nose especially grapefruit rind. Maybe a little pine. Nice looking off white head. Taste is mostly bitter hops but there is a malty quality serving as an undercurrent of flavor and mouthfeel. Pine and slight floral notes. Feels pretty basic IPA fare but it’s drinkable. Decent, if not really a knockout, punch.
3.7 Bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with Višnja 666. Reddish-golden, lasting medium off-white head. Medium to heavily hopped, hops nicely present in the nose as well as toasty malts and dry fruits. Dry bitterness, hops aggressively breaking through. Gasoline. Full taste. Something perfumed is off here. Otherwise good.
2.9 Pours a murky golden color with a huge thick, white, foamy head. Aroma typical of an IPA. Hoppy, Grapefruit. Taste is crisp, grapefruit. Refreshing. A nice IPA
3.1 Bottle. Medium amber with one finger head. Malty body with bready, light toffee. Earthy hops, seems this leans to the English style a bit. Eh.
3.3 This one starts out bitter, with a malt low note and then gets even more bitter and dry on the palate. Not a terrible IPA, but you definitely gotta be in the mood for a mild bite with a box full of bitter.
3.6 Draft @ T.F. Green Airport. Copper body with an amber/beige head. Solid hoppiness with citrus and pepper notes. Doughy maltiness rounding it out. Good IPA.
2.6 Drank from a pint glass, poured from a twelve ounce bottle in a twelve pack sampler. Pours a nice golden/copper color, lots of head that dissipates quickly. Not fond of the up front, in-your-face hop aroma. Decently balanced on the taste tho.
3.4 12oz bottle - pours a medium gold . Herbal / piney aroma . Moderate bitterness . Finish brings a lingering bitterness but not too much . Solid IPA .
3.4 Pours a golden amber color. Aromas of floral hops, some sweetness, and a touch of fruit. Flavors of hops, pine and citrus. Light body with a bittersweet finish and long aftertaste.
3.4 Pours clear copper with white. Aroma is caramel, grapefruit, nut, light fruit. Taste is grapefruit, caramel, nice hoppy. Bitter finish with midlight body.
2.7 65cl bottle. Clear orange golden, small sticky white head. Aroma is light sweet malts, some sweet fruits , light hops. Taste is similar, malty sweetness and sudden dry bitterness. Light body, watery texture, medium carbonation. Disappointing.
3.0 Bottle at friends house during a card game. Dark golden pour with small head. Aromas were hops but not amazing. Same for the flavor. Just nothing great here.
2.2 So many amazing IPA in north america... why do we get this from SAQ... corruption maybe. Taste like water with hops.
3.3 Canette 473ml. Couleur orangée foncée translucide, mousse beige laissant une dentelle épaisse. Arôme de malt caramel, houblon résineux faible, orange confite. Goût de malt, houblon résineux, amertume plutôt élevée, côté herbacé. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen.
3.7 Bottle, 355 ml from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with JFK10000. Pours hazy dark orange with medium white head. Caramel malty, fruit, pine. Medium bodied. Solid dry bitter finish.
3.3 Pours a hazy golden-Amber color with an off white head. Citrus hop aroma. Moderate hop flavor.
