2.6 12oz bottle to tulip. Pours clouded deep amber red, small ring white head. Aroma of pumpkin pulp, cinnamon, and spices. Taste of the same with caramel, gingerbread, and clove. Mouthfeel is light-medium, watery, good carb. Finish is lightly spiced.
3.3 Poured from a bottle. Cloudy yellowish-orange. Small head, no lacing. Grassy aroma, understated pumpkin taste. Good combination.
3.2 Pours a very cloudy orange color. Pretty big white head, goes away quick. Nothing exciting here. Aroma is weird. It’s like a can of pumpkin pie mix. Yes, I smell pumpkin, and spices, and crust. But it doesn’t smell like pie. It’s light on the nose. I taste lots of crust. Nutmeg is pretty strong. There’s other spices too, but not so easy to pick out. Pumpkin is there, but not too strong. I guess it’s malty in taste. I’m not sure. Mouthfeel is pretty good. It’s pretty smooth and pretty drinkable. It’s creamy. It finishes slightly spicy. Overall I’m not particularly a fan. It’s like most if not all Shock Tops, not memorable. I wonder if all Shock Tops start off as one and flavoring is added to make the product. But there’s something off about this. It’s okay, but it could stand to be more bold, or more spicy, or something. Anything. I really didn’t like it at first, but I’ve changed my tune as I’ve had more and more. If you want a pumpkin beer, try something else.
3.0 It’s pretty good for a pumpkin beer. It’s a good cold weather brew. Pumpkin spice and cinnamon are prevelent. It’s decent.
3.2 Btl pours a light amber color with a fizzy white head that vanished quickly leaving no lace. Smells of spice nutmeg, cloves and ginger with a hint of vegetal gourd aroma. Tastes of pumpkin pie ,cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, crust and squash. Light body, under carbonated, watery mouthfeel and a tingly, spicy finish. Beer has nice aromas, a decent pumpkin pie flavor. The light body and weird mouthfeel just don’t work for me. The spices are not overwhelming. It is drinkable but probably won’t try again.
3.5 Very nice and spicy in terms of cinnamon. Quite refreshing and enjoyable in the overall.
2.6 Pumpkin for days and slight wheat hint cheaper than most pumpkin beers. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
3.1 Considering the local temperature in the 90’s fall is in the air and in this case in the bottle. Pours a thick cloudy carmel color, strong aroma of pumpkin and spice. much like pumpkin pie in a bottle but the taste does not last and goes a bit flat. very little bitterness. overall not abad beer.
2.3 Rated based on notes taken 26 Aug 2012 -- a pumpkin from Shocktop? Pretty much as you’d expect: artificial and watery.
3.6 This is a rockin pumpkin beer from shock top that has the highest beer tap in all of history,
2.5 Bottle from Foods Plus, Plaistow, NH. Aroma is pumpkin-y but without a lot of nutmeg/cinnamon/clove spiciness. Appearance is cloudy orange with minimal white head and fair retention with minimal lacing. Taste is medium sweet and not complex. Palate is medium bodied with lively carbonation at the tip of the tongue. Finish is pretty abrupt. Overall, more memorable pumpkin beers if you are searching for one in the fall. Not objectionable in any way but nothing to particularly recommend it.
3.1 On tap at Tavern at the Square, Boston. Pours hazy orange to amber with off-white head. Pumpkin, caramel, wheat, spices.
4.1 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- The spice, pumpkin and malt are a great combo on the nose Appearance - This beer has a really nice dark orange color with a small white head. Taste – I consider this to be one of the top pumpkin beers (especially for the price) Palate -This is a medium bodied beer with light carbonation. Overall - For me, this is a great pumpkin beer for the price. I recommend it.
2.9 golden color with a thin off-white head. aroma is yeast, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Flavor is pumpkin, and pumpkin spices.
2.8 Bottle to half-pint glass. Pours a fairly transparent pale burnt orange with off-white head that dissipates into razor-thin lacing pretty quickly. Smells sweet with notes of Belgian yeast, caramel, nutmeg, and cinnamon with a bit of pumpkin in the background. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced. The pumpkin comes through more, but not in a good way. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Meh.
1.9 This beer tastes artificial and contrived. I imagine a Budweiser being altered with Mrs. Smith's pie filling.
2.8 It came in a variety pack with some of my favorite flavors and I wasn’t too impressed. The only thing I enjoyed about it was the aroma. Had a good scent, but I wasn’t very impressed with the taste. It’s not the worst beer by any means, it’s just mediocre.
3.0 Not bad. Pours a nice orange. Aromas of nice sweet butter and pumpkin. Flavors fall short. No sweetness.. A bit bitter on the end. Average.
2.4 Surprisingly not cloudy. I expected a bit more haziness. Too much carbonation. Head evaporates quickly. Aroma was surprisingly citrusy...almost a spring/summer beer aroma. Very little pumpkin in the taste. Starts more bitter than it finishes.
3.1 Pours a honey golden mildly murky color. Short white head that fades very quickly. Banana bread nose. Medium body with a crispy carbonation. Subtle pumpkin notes are balanced by the malt.
2.8 12 fl. oz. on tap @ McGreevy’s. Pours clear orange with a low head. Aroma is malts with some pumpkin and spices. Flavor is more bland, with the pumpkin and spices more on the background. Not bad, but has "big brewery" written all over it.
3.0 Very cinnamony smell, taste is the same, smooth and malty, tad bit watery but good pumpkin taste
2.2 Twelve oz bottle. Nose is mildly pumpkin and wheat. Taste is deceptively good pumpkin, mild wheat presence. Body is thinner and lively. Not a bad beer though. Better than expected.
2.2 For a guy that is not the biggest fan of pumpkin beers I didn’t mind this one as much as some of the more "crafty" labels. Pours a hazy golden amber with minimal white head. Nose is all pumpkin and some cinnamon and nutmeggy notes. Flavor is pumpkin, wheat, and spice. Not as much spice as the aroma as in the taste. Pleasantly surprised.
3.0 12 oz. bottle from Mike’s fridge. Pours a cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Pretty nice aroma- the pumpkin spice is far from overwhelming and balanced with sweet malts and wheat. The flavor is a slightly less satisfying version of the same. Light-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a thin, smooth mouthfeel. Not bad.
2.4 Pours reddish brown, almost flat. Hardly an impressive beginning. Can’t think of a better word than pungent to describe the nose, not pleasant. An ok beer but not one to look forward to
3.4 Not bad for a macro...tastes nutty to me but still pleasant, not overbearing, pretty good
1.8 Really pretty crappy. Pretty much tastes like water that has had pumpkins floatIng In It for a week.
2.9 341 ml bottle as ’Shock Top Spiced Pumpkin’ *Ale Brewed With Pumpkin and Spices. Dull orange copper, fading tan foam. Vegiefrooty pumpkin smell. Tastes of mild pumpkin and pie spices, mild malts, a bit oily, none of their ’Belgian White’ influence, thank goodness. Average carbonation, light-medium bodied, low hopped. The least offensive A-B offeringto date. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
2.8 Pours a cloudy tea color with poor lacing and head retention. Smells of yeast and wheat, with a subtle pumpkin odor. Tastes like pumpkin, but very mild. Below average to say the least.
