3.1 12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass. Appearance is a hazy golden-orange with no head. Aroma is wheat, banana, rye, and a sour scent like lemon. The taste is similar, but it is also sweeter. I can definitely taste the ginger. Smooth and crisp feel. It’s not bad, but I’m not a big fan.
1.8 12oz bottle, pours hazy bright orange with white head. Smells of yeast, ginger, spice. Wow that’s gingery, dominates the taste along with some banana, spice, and rye. Ugh...can’t say I’m a fan of this one.
3.7 On tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy golden with an off-white head. The aroma is ginger with spicy rye, hops, and fruity yeast. The flavor is light sweet and light to medium bitter with fresh ginger and a good amount of spicy rye. Nice refreshing citrus tones in the background.
4.0 Pours a slightly cloudy golden color. Aroma is of ginger and spicy rye, palate is nice malt and rye then the ginger pops and its spicy warming and refreshing all at once. A perfect summer beer! Sure may sound odd but tastes fabulous.....its what Shorts does best!!
3.1 355 ml bottle. Originally rated on 20091107. Pours copper color with a s7-3-5-3-13-31mall head. Aroma of grain, caramel, malts and fruits. Flavor of grain, malts, fruits and some caramel.
3.7 75 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. Rated on 02.05.2009 Aroma has lots of ginger, sweetish malty notes (rye?) and some resin. Flavour has sweet, resiny malt, some stinging ginger and peppery spices. Once again an odd beer from Shorts and once again I like it.
3.8 0.75l bottle. Been saving this for a while, but I think it’s correct to pop it today. It pours this amazing looking cloudy and glowing orange/sunlight colored body with a big everlasting beautiful fluffy off-white head that’s lacing down the sides of the glass. Looks really beautiful in the glass this one. On the aroma I get lots of things! Mainly ginger, honey and lemons, but here is also some traces of candy, toilet soap and there is a woody sourness. Almost like it’s a bit infected. Definitely an interesting aroma on this one. The taste? Hmm.. Also quite interesting. Ginger? Yeah, absolutely, but it’s not to dominating. It’s average carbonated with an average oily mouthfeel. Light wood-sour and quite spicy. I get a good old mint hint here before it ends smooth gingerly, light dry and quite gingerbread like in the finish. I have to say that I would probably have managed with a smaller bottle, but it really grows on you and all in all I grew quite found of this one. 06.09.2012
3.5 750 ml bottle shared at Naifest. Pours a clear amber/dark golden color with a small off white head. The aroma has a nice ginger, spicy rye mix with additional floral and moderately sweet malts. The flavor has spicy rye notes, sushi like ginger, sweet malts with a mild herbal finish. Interesting, but a touch past its prime.
3.5 Bottle at Craft Beer Co tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours cloudy amber, with a massive off-white head. The nose is tangerine, orange, Irn Bru, gingerbread, malty backbone and light spice. The taste is freshly baked rye bread, light spice, gingerbread, some soapiness and toast, with a lightly sweet finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent.
3.8 Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co., London courtesy of...me. Pours cloudy, rich gold with a large, frothy white foam head. Bright ginger nose with some toasty bread in there, too. Light to medium sweet flavor with rich gingerbread, no sharp ginger sting, moderate toastiness, low bitterness. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Light to medium sweet finish with bready malts, gingerbread/cake, light toasty. Quite nice stuff, especially if you enjoy gingerbread.
3.3 En botella.Anaranjada turbia con espuma blanca, aromas a clavo,gengibre,centeno,guarda...en boca compleja con un poco de efervesencia final.
3.4 From the bottle at Nattifest ’12. Hazy amber color with a fluffy cream colored head. Light perfumy nose with some ginger notes. Flavors of ginger spice and an almost lavender flowery taste.
3.8 Bottle shared at Natifest 12. Poured a cloudy golden color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy rye, ginger and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy tingly bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet tingly finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable brew.
4.0 Sample from a bottle at Natifest, thanks to alexsdad06. Thin off-white head, totally hazy orange amber color. Amazing ginger flavor, with a solid note of rye. Most ginger beers I try don’t have a solid ginger aroma, but this delivers, and works great with the rye grains. Great, bright crisp carbonation manages to make this a great refreshing brew to enjoy in the summer. Love this.
3.5 Bottle to taster at Natifest (thanksalexsdad06). Looks good; orange with white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; Ginger and citrus. Mouthfeel is average. A good beer that I’m grateful to have tried.
2.6 Clear amber body with a fizzy off-white head. Lots of ginger in the aroma along with toasted grain and citrus. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. The bitterness lingers, but the finish is more sweet than bitter. Medium body, slick texture, moderate to lively carbonation. Ginger, lemon, soap, flowers, rye dominate the taste, especially the ginger. Not being a fan of strong ginger, this beer seems way out of kilter to me.
3.2 Another Jale bottle from pre-DLD party. Pretty bold in the ginger department, maybe a little too much for me. Tasty but maybe a little unbalanced.
3.9 On draft at EBF. Another one from Short’s I was pretty jazzed to try. This had a good bit of ginger presence. The aroma/flavor was sort of like ginger candy but not overly sweet. A good one I’d like to try again.
3.6 Hazy amber of color with an off white head. An aroma of caramel, spice, sweets and ginger. A flavor of spice, ginger and dry.
3.7 12 oz. bottle from pantanap- thanks again, Kan! Pours a hazed orange-gold with some yeast in the glass and a medium off-white head. Big fresh ginger on the aroma with rye, caramel, and some apricot-like fruitiness. The flavor is also led by ginger and rye, dry and spicy, with some citrus and apple, along with caramel. Light-medium bodied, with a gingery but not too spicy mouthfeel and dry finish. Medium carbonation. Probably the best ginger beer I’ve had.
4.2 12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, bottled 11/15/2011. Pours a hazy and dense looking golden orange color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass, and a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of banana, lemon, fresh ginger, orange peel, clove, bread, and herbal spiciness. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. The ginger is very evident, and smells very authentic and fresh. Taste of ginger, clove, banana, lemon, pepper, orange zest, biscuit, and herbal spiciness. Lingering notes of pepper, clove, ginger, citrus, banana, and herbal spices on the finish for a while. Great flavor balance, and quite robust. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and thick mouthfeel. No alcohol presence noted at all for being almost 8%. Overall this is an excellent and very enjoyable experimental style from Short’s(yet again). Plenty of flavor; with nice complexity, balance, and smooth drinking.
2.8 Bottle shared at De Molen tasting. Strong rye in the aroma with ginger and spice. Same aspects in flavour. Really not my sort of thing.
3.3 Tasting@de Molen Terribly ugly label on the bottle!!! Too cheap! Beer is slightly hazy amber, white head. Rye is very present in the aroma as well as some nice honey sweetness. Both come back in taste along with malts, some funkiness, bitterness, spices. Very dry.
3.4 Bottle. Aroma is big rye, some spices, touch of ginger. Flavour is big ginger, sharp malt, spices and rye. Something else.
2.3 Hazy orange, medium white small bubbly head. Cinnamon, bark, vanilla, herbal. Spices, dead hops, bitter watery. Bleh. Not for me. (At the De Molen tasting)
3.0 Sample glass at de molen beer tasting. Thick white head. Slightly hazy golden amber brew. Noticable ginger. Not my cup if tea
3.8 Bottle at monthly tasting session @ De Molen, hosted by dEnk. Clear deep golden pour, thin white head. Aroma of cough syrup, spicy, honey, sugary and ginger. Flavor is slightly bitter, nicely full malty, sweet honey and spicy. Nice and very well balanced brew.
2.8 Blonde amber hue appearance. Strong ginger aroma. Sweet bitter Taste. Palate is semi sweet, strong ginger.
4.0 Amber pour, off white head. Aroma of fresh ginger, caramel and a nice spicy noted from the rye. Dry up front on the palette and the ginger shines. Delicious.
3.5 Big bottle, kindly shared by GrOve. Low beige head. Body is unclear, orangey hued, golden brown. Nice fresh fruit aroma, paired with a gentle scent of ginger. Soft mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Taste is clean with a light and refined sweetness. Fruity with a nicly balanced ginger burn all the way throughout. Nice!
