Short's Soft Parade

Short's Soft Parade

Liquified laughter from fruit filled disaster.
Simply put: Fruit Rye Ale. A bountiful blend of toasted rye flakes and two row malted barley make wort fermented with 200 pounds of pureed strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries resulting in a sweet fruity delicacy. Intoxicatingly refreshing and brewed special for those ladies who enjoy their wine.

3.6 I have no fucking clue if I'm rating the right beer here because the fucking brewers are so casual about their fucking labels. I don't taste any rye in this but I do taste a ton of berries and malt but little hops. It taste quite good and I'm rating it high, but I don't detect the 7.5% ABV reported because I may not be rating the actual beer listed here. This tastes like it has no alcohol at all. If I'm wrong, forgive me. But I'm not wrong about brewers screwing around with their labeling!!!!!!
3.2 How: Bottle. Where: RBESG 17 Grand Tasting. Appearance: Hazy pink colour with a small off-white head. Aroma: Berries, fruit, bread, rye. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Berries, fruit.
3.6 Bottle Aroma-berries Appearance-amber, clear, white foam, Taste-medium bitterness, medium sourness, light sweetness, Palate-medium body, sticky, lively carbonation, long finish, Overall-very good
3.4 Unperceptable aroma. I get figs and twigs, dark berries, bright berries, caramel, candied dried fruit and malt. Deceptive the way it seems pale and fruity but the balance between sweet, heat and malt is good.
3.9 Labs ogu alus ar vieglu skābenumu, bet labi sajūtamu alus pamatu. Gan garšā, gan aromātā ir jūtamas ogas, arī krāsa, protams, ir atbilstoša. Sabalansēts alus, jo alkoholu vispār nevar just.
2.6 650ml bottle (Beerfox, Riga) (5:3-:5:3-:10-=2.6---) Sweet honey in the aroma and taste, hints at diacetyl. More berries in the aroma than taste, which is a bit watery, and buttery. Dirty in appearance, not particularly appealing. Fruit juice meh. 650ml bottle (RBESG2017 Grand Tasting) (5:3:5:3:10=2.6) Cleaner this time, diacetyl gone. Still more a fruit juice than a beer. Too sweet. Silly brew.
3.6 F: thin, white, quick gone. C: red/gold, hazy. A: malt, raspberries, strawberries, red berries. T: raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, light body, low/medium carbonation, good, sample from bottle @ RBESG 2017, Grand tasting in Tallin, Estonia.
3.0 355ml bottle (Beerfox, Riga). Ruby red color. Small size, off-white bubbly head, stays. Sour, acidic, caramel in aroma. Raspberries, juicy, raw blackberries, acidic in taste. Raw raspberries and acidic in aftertaste. Sharp mouthfeel. Drinkable brew.
3.8 Bottle @beerfox, Riga. Pours reddish amber with nice yellowish head. Aroma: lot of berries, strawberry, blueberries, raspberries, flourish. Taste : sweet and sour, berries still, weak vinegar, strawberry, blueberries, raspberries. Up to medium body. Sourish finish.
3.2 Light caramel with light red hues and a flat head. Aromas of cotton candy, raspberries, strawberries, caramel. Flavors upfront raspberries, slight blueberry, straw with a maize aftertaste finish. Lightly sweet with a touch of tart. The fruit flavors are light but very noticeable just not in the most perfect way. I like the authentic fruit flavors!
3.1 12 ounce bottle. Amber orange color with a hint of red. Large rocky beige head. Fruity caramel malt nose. First sip is tart berries and toasted malt. Rustic bread, raspberries. Lemon peel, rhubarb and grassy hops.
2.5 RBESG 2017, Grand Tasting, sampled on July 22, 2017. From bottle. Hazy pink color, white head. Sweet, berries scent. Fruity, chemical taste. Bitter, pips aftertaste. Medium and fizzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. 6/3/4/3/9=2.5
3.1 (Sample from a bottle at RBESG 2017 Grand Tasting) The beer poured pale red and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness and raspberries. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, raspberries, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste had raspberries and bitterness. A surprisingly nice brew dominated by fruits.
2.3 Sample from the bottle at RBESG 2017, Tallinn. Color is pinkish red with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Berries, strawberries, sweetness and some malts.
3.5 Bottle. Pours pink. Aroma is sweet, sour , raspberries, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fruits, malt. Overall: good.
3.7 355ml bottle at Beerfox. Pours clear pinkish red, small fluffy off-white head stays. Aroma of wild strawberries, cranberries, milk, raspberry. Taste of sweet raspberry, redcurrant, grain. Hops, red tea in aftertaste. Medium body, over average carbo. Very light to drink but tasty and juicy, fruity brew. I like it!
4.5 My favorite beer. It’s full bodied and while it’s fruit flavored, IT’S STILL BEER and that is the primary thing that makes it my favorite beer. Other "fruit beers" in my experience have just been fruit and not beer, and I simply love the balance of fruit to beer flavor here. Also, it does looks really cool in a glass.
2.9 Reddish color. Nothing bad or really good about this. Muddled semi sweet fruits on the nose and flavor. lots going on fruit wise, bland malt, little else. Meh.
3.2 Clear reddish orange color with pinkish head. Aroma is really fruity with strawberries and raspberries coming out most. Also some cream/yogurt like notes. Taste is just slightly fruity with some astringent bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Not what I expected from the aroma. The flavors don’t combine well together.
2.5 Bottle. Pours a hazy reddish orange with a large fluffy white head that slowly dissipates to about an inch. Low carbonation. The aroma is not all that pleasing at first sample. There’s a pervasive aroma of cooked vegetables and perhaps rancid berries on toast--the breakfast of champions. Flavors are slightly better, but not much. Sweet malt, overripe berries, some grassy notes, a bit of tartness, bready tones, mild earthy hop finish with a bit of herbal notes. Honestly, the flavor of berries that were pilfered from a dumpster in the summer heat is on my mind with every sip. It could be out of date, but I don’t see an expiration date on the bottle. Soft carbonation. Fairly clean mouthfeel. Noticeable alcohol warmth. This wouldn’t be such a bad beer if they could find something to do with the adverse berry flavors. It’s not one I’d pour down the drain, but it’s nothing I’ll ever buy again.
2.4 Bottle. Nose musty fruit, getting white noise from the variety blend. Pour a pale pink that gradually takes on an orange and even caramel tone, opaque in the glass and cloudy, slightly ruby, head white and soapy with a faint pink tinge. Taste lightly bitter, lightly sweet bu possibly semi-dry, good fruit, lots of berry with probably a few too many berry seeds, fizzy medium body that conversely ends up a bit too flat. A little alcohol showing but not too much. Have to say I just don’t like the recipe, though I love the concept and have had the inspiration before. [2017.06.23: 2.4]
3.9 Wow! What a lovely summer beer + cocktail hour beer. It's like liquified raspberry cheesecake but with booze. The lounging babe logo is wonderful. So easy to slug, but no idea it is 7.5%! Dangerous!
3.0 Color is reddish pink. Fruit notes. Raspberry. Not terribly carbonated. Tasty. *12 oz bottle into pint glass
3.0 Bottled on 1/3/17. Served from bottle into glass at home. Pours pale rose in color, medium low clarity with short lasting white head. Aroma of red fruit and berry, like strawberry or raspberry jelly, and a mild graininess. Some floral character noticeable as well. No hop aroma detected. Flavor is primarily more red fruit and berry, less definable than the aroma. Finish is dry, almost wine like. Medium light body with medium high carbonation. Overall this beer is underwhelming. The aroma and flavor are both simple somewhat artificial fruit and berry. The dry finish, body and carbonation make it very drinkable. There are very little "beer" characteristics, to the point that if I was handed this I would assume it was a wine cooler. I appreciate the attempt, but feel as though there are better ways to make a fruit and berry focused beer.
2.8 Draft. A- Berries, medicinal, sweet. A- Reddish color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Berries, sweet, plastic. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Too sweet and artificial tasting. For a rye beer it could use a lot more of that.
2.6 This is unquestionably a fruit beer. Sweet, with lots of strawberry flavor. Not much tartness and a little soap (ehh). I think it is natural but it wanders too close to the badlands ruled by the evil alcopop gods. Some tartness in the aroma. Cute label. It’s well done, and I wish I liked it more than I did, but it needs something. I’ll keep an eye out for more Short’s.
2.8 Bottle. Pours pinkish amber with a thin white head. Aroma of mixed berries, wheat and grains. Flavor of pale malts, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and had notes of wheat.
2.4 very fruity aromas of mostly raspberry and blueberry. amber/peach and hazy in color with fast fading head. taste is fruity upfront, fades quickly.
3.2 Pours rhubarb red with a thin creamy white head. Aroma of raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. Dry fruity flavor with strawberry and raspberry dominant. Decent.
2.6 Red-amber pour, thin white head. Aroma is fruity. Flavor is what I expected with a synthetic taste. Wet finish. Sweet. Alcohol is masked.
