Sierra Nevada / Allagash Beer Camp Myron's Walk

Sierra Nevada / Allagash Beer Camp Myron's Walk

2014 Beer Camp Across America Release.

We named this beer in honor of Myron Avery, a founder of the Appalachian Trail, or the A.T., which starts near Sierra Nevada’s North Carolina brewery and ends near Allagash’s home in Maine. Both breweries have a tremendous love of the outdoors, and Avery and the A.T. are great reminders of the wild spirit of exploration that connects us both.

Myron’s Walk is a Belgian-style pale ale combining the best of our two breweries. It features intense citrusy flavor and a complex aroma from the use of fruity and resinous whole-cone Citra and Mosaic hops offset by the complex spicy character of Allagash’s house Belgian yeast strain.

3.7 355ml bottle. Thx Jookos! Honey golden, thick white head. Orange peel, spices, hops. Really fruity stuff. Flavor has orange, yeast, apricots, hops. Dry stuff. Smooth, hoppy. Nice one.
3.9 Great. One of the best from the case. Definitely reminiscent of Allagash beers with the house yeast strain. Pours a nice light orange (or gold with orange tint-however you want to say it). Hazy with a decent head and lacing. Belgian/yeasty/ spicy notes right away and the citrus/pine Mosaic balances it perfectly. Bit funky in a good way. Fairly dry on the the finish and resinous throughout. Not getting much coriander. Definitely hoppy for the style- really is like the best of both breweries. Exceptional considering the age.
3.4 Cloudy yellow pour with a white head. Aroma is fruity and yeast. Taste is little fruity, yeast and really dry finish. Ok lacing.
3.7 Tap at stags head as I stopped for quick beer after work. Pours lovely yellow orange with fine head. Nose is big tropical fruit and yeast. Tastes of pear, mangos, honey, floral, yeast, some peppery notes on finish. Fine lively palate. Nice brew
3.3 From Notes: Pours an orange gold color with nice lace. Taste of fruit and hops.
3.8 This was a joint tasting with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Poured a hazy gold with a medium sized white head with great retention. Good lacing. Nose is citrus and coriander. Medium plus body and resinous mouthfeel. Flavor is a blast of fruit with apricot, tangerine, mango, and pineapple. Finish is spicy and the fruit lingers. Very tasty.
3.4 Poured from bottle into tulip. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a creamy 2 finger head. Head dissipates down to about 1/2 finger. Aroma - lemon, spicy yeast, and a touch of earthiness and resin underneath. Taste - lots more resin on the taste than in the aroma. Mosaic hops are definitely easy to pick out as well, but a lot of the citrus on the nose is gone. The finish is pretty long and is dominated by the resin. The spicy notes from the yeast aren’t forward here, but still detectable.
3.5 Bottle in Seattle. Soft gold, small head. Yeasty herbs, pale ale with wit spices. Some crispness. Tasty surprise.
3.8 January 13, 2014. Bottle at home, bottled may 3, 2014. Light hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is sweet grain, ripe apricots, citrus, coriander, white pepper. Taste is light sweet fruity, citrus and spicy notes, finish is crisp, perfume and citrus. Light bodied, average carbonation.
3.3 Citrus peel and tropical fruit along with some light Belgian spice in the aroma. Cloudy orange color with suspended sediment; thin, bubbly white crown. The flavor has toasted wheat malt, soft fleshy fruits up front, soapy corriander in the middle and a hefty sharp citrus (grapefruit) peel/pithe bitterness midway and through the finish. This softens up a bit from time to time, but this beer definitely has a hop punch to it although it’s not over the top and everything is mostly balanced. Medium-light body with a slick texture. Overall, this is a good offering, but I’m just not a big fan of coriander in beer anymore...
4.1 Orange/Gold with a soapy white head. Aroma is yeast, with dried fruit, mild hoppiness, some pine. Taste is a nice firm hoppiness, with pine, mild maltiness to provide balance, finished with yeasty character. Excellent beer.
3.8 355ml bottle from Saveur-Biere PKGD 06/03/14 - Pours golden orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, funky yeast, citrusy hops, spices, caramel and faint hints of tropical notes. Taste is smooth, juicy fruity and funky yeasty with some hoppiness, citrus, spices, grass and tropical notes. Finish is smooth, hoppy and funky yeasty with some bitterness and juicy fruitiness. Quite nice and refreshing hoppy blonde.
3.5 35,5 cl bottle @ tiong, packaged 03.06.2014 Aroma has fruity hops and soapy citrus. Also some apricot. Feels fresh. Flavour has soapy apricot, some citrus, grassy hops and mellow yeasty tones. Also mandarin juice. Nice hoppy Belgian.
3.9 Tasted from bottle. Pours a hazy gold with thick white head. Nice looking beer. Aroma is coriander, belgian yeast and spices, citrus fruits and some floral notes. Taste is moderately to heavily bitter with mild sweetness. Citrus flavors with some coriander and belgian yeast flavors. Crisp on the palate. Great on warm day. Excellent belgian style pale ale.
3.3 Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Yeast aroma. Yeast and malt flavor with fruity esters. Medium bodied. Fruity esters linger with yeast and malt.
3.5 Pours a golden hue with slight. Suspended solids give the beer a glow. White head of tight white bubbles. Very good retention and lacing. Aromas are yeasty with bread and fruit. Taste is initially bitter. Malt fights back only to eventually succumb to the hops. Very hoppy for a Belgian Pale, but not unpleasant. The piney and floral flavor of the bittering makes this beer more of a sipper than a drinker. Refreshing nonetheless.
3.7 Pale gold pour, sizeable head. Aroma and taste are similar - yeast, pepper, coriander. citrus and pine really start to come through after a few drinks. Fizzy carbonation.
4.0 Bottle. Dry Belgian yeast aroma. Some biscuit. Murky yellow body with lots of streaming visible carbonation. Mostly eroding white head. This brew starts initially as a basic Belgian pale ale, but after 2nd or 3rd sip the finish develops with the considerable hop character. Really excellent.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a golden color with white head. Belgian yeast, spicy, dusty, slight herbal aromas. Spicy, peppery, yeasty, slight citrus flavors. Solid.
4.0 Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a hazy dark orange with a finger of white head. Aroma is mostly citrus. Taste is medium bitter. Citrus and pine hops. Full bodied with a relatively creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Very good.
3.1 The aroma is yeasty, slight vegetable, fruit. The appearance is hazy yellow, white head. The flavor is green tea, yeast, vegetable, spicy, fruity. The finish is yeasty, spicy, hoppy. Medium in body, a tad light. Not bad a bit strange, and light bodied. Ok.
3.4 Poured a hazy golden amber with about a 1 inch lightly creamy off-white head. There was a good amount of carb bubbles rising up in the glass. The aroma was nice with pine resin, a little citrus aroma of tangerine or apricot and some sweetness smashed bananas. The beer had a strong pine flavor initially with some citrus later on. The beer’s texture was nicely full bodied and there was a good refreshing feel. On the finish there was a mild bitterness along the lines of citrus rind.
3.1 I appreciate what they're trying to do here, though not quite there. Has a peppery and slightly sweet flavor with slight resiny bitterness.
3.8 Nice orange yellow pour. Citrus and belGian yeast aroma. Some fruit citrus baNana with some spicy hop characteristics. Moderate body and carbonation.
3.2 White/gold pour with a diminishing frothy head. Spicy hops, a touch of funk, lemon.
3.7 On tap at Sideways in Fayetteville. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is yeasty, some floral, some citrus, and a bit wheaty. Flavor follows and is really smooth. Very nice beer.
4.2 Comes out of the tap hazy amber with a fairly thick golden-buff head that leaves generous lacing. Aroma is rather hoppy for a Belgian, more like an IPA, with fruity and malty underpinnings. Flavor is quite hoppy and woody, but not at all bitter; malty, fruity (pear, banana, orange), and subtle butterscotch notes round out a super brewski. Texture has about average viscosity, but tons of lively and sassy fizz. Take a walk with Myron!
2.7 Sample at Syracuse Beer Fest. Hazy deep golden with a tight white head. Reasonably estery with a touch of phenolic spiciness, bright citrus. Fruity esters, herbal, quite peppery, pine, light malt backbone.
3.6 Pours a pale yellow with a modest white head. Aroma has a smooth citrus nose with notes of orange and lemon with some light spice late in the nose. Flavor has a strong citrus hops presence with a modest spicy funk to it at the finish. Body is light, crisp with a mild amount of carbonation. Overall a pretty good brew.
3.6 Hazy straw golden body with a soft, white head. Belgian yeast, light spice, floral, citrus, earth. Pretty good.
