Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Imperial Red Ale (2013)

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Imperial Red Ale (2013)

Our aggressive Imperial Red Ale is a massive mix of smooth malts and West Coast hops that have no patience for the lupulin leery. This crimson beer starts with caramel-like malt flavor that can’t suppress the assertive, citrusy hop finale.

3.9 Bottle at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö, Norra Vallgatan Cloudy dark amber color with small head. Aroma of caramel and some fruits, nutty. Bold, caramelly, moderately sweet, with very strong bitterness, plenty of hop resins and some bitter orange. I prefer leaner beers, but this one too is very good.
3.5 A scent of wild berries is the first thing that strikes me. The flavor is strong and has easy fruity with some caramel. Aftertaste is greatly bitter with a long finish that lies down the sides of the mouth. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.3 @Stordirren: mustig doft av malt, humle och vitpeppar. Smaken är besk men fyllig och inte alls så tokig. ---- Soberness not garanteed!

3.7 Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a dark red colored body with a two finger white foamy head that dies within a minute, clingy lacing graces the sides of the glass. The smell had a big caramel maltiness up front like an American Red Ale, but some persistent piney hops try to strike in on the nose, a slight biscuity element evades into the aroma as well. The taste was mainly sweet with the piney hops try to add a bitter element that stays subdued for the most part, caramel aftertaste, sticky finish. On the palate, she sat at medium, somewhat sessionable. Carbonation is pretty smooth but doesn’t necessarily have the sharp bitter assault I sometimes expect from some of Sierra Nevada’s brews. I still like this beer for the most part. Overall, I would say this is a good beer that I would have this again.
4.3 Bottle. Really excellent beer. Lovely hop aroma, which follows through in the taste, but with real body and depth. Excellent.
4.0 Aroma: Smelling of brown bread, apple, toffee, honey and grass. Appearance: A hazy chestnut colored beer. A high off-white head with good lacing and good curtains. 4.0 Tyckte verkligen denna var kalas. Del sötma i aromen.
Doft: Malt, humle, bark, skog, choklad lakrits. Smak: Humle, choklad lakrits, malt, barr, lite grape.

3.7 Bottled. Pours amber with a huge light brown head. Smells grassy hoppy, bread malty, a bit sweet. Tastes grassy hoppy, a bit sweet and funky, roasted malt, a bit sweet with a similar finish.
3.3 Stilig mörkröd färg. En ganska brutal öl. Snäll i inledning, men sen kommer beskan. Hmm.

3.8 Pours deep reddish amber, almost mahogany with fairly tall off-white head. Aroma of resin, caramel, light butterscotch, some citrus. Taste is initial caramel sweet followed by resinous bitter balanced with underlying caramel. Lingering bitter finish. Body is medium and creamy with soft carbonation.
3.5 Flaska från SB. Mörk mörk brunröd färg. Smak av karamell, citrus. Medium skum som sitter kvar i glaset. Rätt skön beska.
3.9 Unfiltered red beauty. Strong complex smell of hops. A lot of hops. Taste is heavy from start to finish. First a strong sweet caramelly maltyness leading to a strong and long hop finish with a lot of citrus and herbs.
3.8 Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, citrus, honung med toner av röda bär och nötter. Fruktig, med en tydlig beska med smak av citrus och maskros.
