3.3 Pours gold with a frothy white head; juicy citrus aromas on the nose; juicy citrus palate with bitter oily finish.
3.6 Can. Golden orange pour with a small white head. Heavy hop aroma of citrus and pine, tropical fruits. Flavor is rich with the hops, citra and the citrus/tropical fruit storm. Bitterness is not overwhelming, but flavorful. Very good.
3.4 Draft at Smith's. Pours clear golden with white head. Nose is resiny hops, florals, fruit. Tastes hoppy, bitter, with some florals and a bitter finish.
3.7 Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of citrus fruit, cedar and tropical fruit. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter.
3.6 Nice and ever so slightly hazy perfectly copper and peach coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of crisp lemons, citrus, pine and a dose of bubblegum and some floral elements as well - nice. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal flavours at first with a nice dose of hops, but nothing bitter at all, and a moderate to light malt backbone makes this almost drink as a regular IPA or even a robust APA! Aftertaste is very dry, herbal, grassy and slightly citrusey with some fruits and hops coming through, all with a dash of herbs and alcohol at the tail end. Overall, a refreshing and relatively light Imperial IPA that drinks as if a standard IPA or less, and shows some moderate complex notes and a simplistic malt profile. Nice to sample and a good beer, but not great...this is a good example of a beer that isn't what the label says, in a good way. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 12-August-2017 for US$25,99/twelve pack, sampled at home in Washington on 22-September-2017.
3.4 Fairly bright golden colored liquid (Nice to see with all the east coast fog lately) with a moderate white head. Initial mild citrus scents early followed by meaty malt, hints of tomato juice, and some floral aromas. Initial flavors of pale malt and raw honey. Hops join in the middle with some pine and mild citric zest. Alcohol and honey reawaken in the finish. Linger with a herbal hops bitterness. An interesting amalgamation.
3.8 Sample during the "Collaboration Beers On Deck 2!" event on 08/13/2017. Clear orange-gold color with a medium white head that burns away steadily to a film. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, herbal hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of grapefruit, resiny hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering citrusy hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
3.6 Can from Hegedorn's. Deep gold, bubbly, with lace. Grassy nose, pine, some honey, citrus, stone fruits, grapes. Prickly peppery finish. Full body but not too sweet, though a bit heavy and jammy. Dry finish.
3.5 Can sourced from the Beer Camp mix pack. Golden pour with a small head. Bright, resin-forward nose. Some onion. Nicely balanced stuff. Pronounced oniony finish. Chewy grain, some honeyed cereal. Medium body, fine carb.
3.9 On tap at Vultures Lane. Pours gold. Peach, orange, caramel, biscuit, little pineapple. Nice body. Good. Really good.
3.8 Can sample at a tasting at troubles’ place. Thanks troubles. Clear gold with a white head. Dank, then white grapefruit and some pineapple in the nose, bitter, dry, slightly danky, slightly tropical fruit in the mouth. Bitter and dry finish. medium-to-full body, lively fizz.
4.0 Great piney and resin aroma. Light golden color with a large sustainable white head. Medium weight with strong carbonation. Bold flavor of bitterness, honey, caramel and pine but balanced.
3.6 Pint can. Grapefruit citrus hop aroma with notes of pine resin and tropical fruit hops as well as some caramel maltiness. Pours clear golden colored with a large, soapy off white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with grapefruit citrus and caramel malt flavors. Finishes dry with some tropical fruit before the pine resiny bitterness hits and clings to the palate but doesn’t overwhelm. Nice DIPA.
3.6 Poured from a 16 oz can dated 04/26/2017; I probably should have picked up one of these packs sooner. Aroma has some medium light malt notes with cracker and light caramel. Rather hop forward, but the bright tropical fruit notes have faded and now its mostly grapefruit, pine, resin and other citrus notes. Pours a slightly hazy, bright orange with hints of copper and a medium large, fairly thick, frothy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and small legs. Flavor has a medium light to medium sweetness to it with some light cracker, biscuit and caramel malt notes. Moderately strong bitterness with moderately strong to strong hop flavors. Lots of grapefruit, pine, resin and lighter orange notes. Any softer tropical fruit or stone fruit notes have faded by now. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent West Coast IPA but I wish I tried it while it was fresher. Definitely a West Coast hop profile. A bit too malt forward for my taste with too much caramel.
3.2 Heavy, sweet, earthy aroma from a slightly hazy pale yellow body with a thin white head. Taste is like the aroma, sweet and heavy and earthy. The hops end up being more vegetal than bright and citrusy which is what I was expecting. This is a well made beer, but it’s the overbearing kind of hoppiness that I don’t enjoy that much.
3.7 Duft citruslidt appelsin smag appelsin lidt citrus humle grøn karakter i form af græs og gran malt kant
4.5 Poured from a 16 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear golden-orange color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is full of rich citrus and pine hops with a faint bit of malt and crackers. The taste is just like the nose. An excellent DIPA.
3.6 Can. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit lingers.
3.7 A steady pour produces a one-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a bright, yellow golden color that shows a clear, light golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a huge citrus zest character to it with tangelo, a bit of kumquat, ruby-red-grapefruit, candied orange zest, as well as citrus flower nectar. The beer has a soft biting bitterness to it up front, which gets more firm and a bit more pronounced through to the finish. Citrus hop notes linger from beginning to end of each sip and there is also a supporting pine, and herbal character that provides some bite and balance to the fruit side of the hop character. Ruby-red-grapefruit zest, tangelo zest, Curacao orange zest, a hint of menthol, and a bit of basil / sage herbal notes are all noticeable. The body of this beer is light for a beer of this strength, but substantial enough to not feel overly thin; this is definitely dangerously quaffable, with a prickly carbonation. A very nice Double IPA, I am thoroughly enjoying it, and I really like that the alcohol is well contained. I get tired of the alcohol in most Double IPAs these days and this one does not do that.
4.3 It pours golden and is very clear. The head has tight beading and plenty of lacing. The head is off white and head retention is good. The aroma features intense citrus, resinous, and pine. The background has a low amount of malty sweetness. The flavors are highlighted by citrus, pine, resinous, and floral flavors. The is a moderately low amount of malty sweetness. It has some alcohol that is noticeable in the flavor, but is is very smooth. It has a medium body with smooth alcohol warming. There is a slight slickness on the tongue. Overall this is a hop intense beer with a noticeable pleasant malt base, but lacks the harshness that many imperial ipas have. Excellent beer.
3.7 can. golden with one finger head. lightly sweet body, big hoppy flavors with citrus and light pine. excellent balance, and drinks easier than the abv would suggest.
3.9 Pours slightly hazy pale yellow with average head. I mean this as a compliment, this beer smells like a fairly sedate Stone IPA. I’m huge Stone fan boy, so that’s definitely not a slam. It’s got the classic west coast hop quality, and a slightly sweet malt thing going on. The flavor is very much the same. It closes with a little bit of that slightly dank tangle that i love about the style. Not that Sierra Nevada needs lessons from Stone, of course.
3.6 Aroma: grain, malt, pine and notes of citrus. Taste: sweet malty from the start with some notes of honey. Full bodied. Bitter aftertaste with mix of citrus and pine. Good dipa
3.7 Tall can, Ann Arbor, MI. Massive nectarine aroma. Slight funky resin. Sweet and syrupy but not overly cloying. Warm hops, resin and white pepper with honey on the finish.
3.6 From a can. Pours clear bright golden amber with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like grapefruit, hop resin, citrus hops, lemon, and bready and cracker malt. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like lemon, grapefruit, resin, citrus hops, and bready and cracker malt.
4.0 Draft at the NC source. Hazy yellow color white head. Mixed citrus aroma. Taste is bittersweet summer ffuit. Balanced and easy drinking for its abv.
3.5 Part of the sampler box. Orange with white head. Moderate all around for boneyard. But pretty tasty.
3.6 Can: Slightly hazy, orange-amber with a small off-white head. Pine, pineapple, orange aroma. Taste is nectary fruits....orange malt, grain malt. Big, but even, piney bittering throughout. Very nice.
4.2 [My can (16oz) shared w/ HogTownHarry & GregClow] Pours a hazy gold with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Nice aroma with lots of fruity hops. Slightly hempy and piney as well. Lovely hoppy flavour follows the aroma and has a nice bitter finish. Medium bodied. Really good stuff.
3.5 Can from the mixed pack picked up from FWB Beach Liquor. Straight from the can poolside on a sweltering PC day. Aroma reminds me of freshly cut pine. The flavor is resinous, lightly sweet with a hint of booze. Nice enough.
