Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout

Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout

A cup of joe and a bold beer can thwart the winter cold so we blended them for the ultimate warmer. Our Coffee Stout is a fusion of dark roasted malts and rich, cold-brewed coffee for layers of bittersweet, fruity, dark chocolate and caramel-like flavors.

Taste is slightly bitter and definitely coffee based. Has a good aftertaste. Overall its a tasty beer. Heavy on coffe but very drinkable.
3.7 Black pour with a ruby hue, thin beige head and lots of lacing .... aroma of coffee, roasted malts, caramel malts and cocoa with light dark fruit.... taste is of coffee, bitter and roasted, light vanilla, caramel, cocoa and some sweetness.... dark fruit is lightly noticeable ... bitter and dry on the back end .... finish is of bitter hops, coffee, roasted malts and dry cocoa .... sessionable and tasty, medium bodied
3.9 Had a bottle at friend's house, from a variety pack. Bold coffee aromas, and rich bitter and robust malts and coffee flavor. Full body, warming without being intoxicating.
3.8 It pours dark brown with a brown head. Head retention is excellent. It has strong aromas of roasted coffee and expresso. There is also a bit of roast in support. It has a strong coffee and expresso flavor. There are some background flavors of cocoa and some roast. It has a medium body. Overall, it is certainly a beer for coffee lovers as that is what the aromas are and what the flavor is.
3.9 Bottle at home. Lovely looking brew dark brown and perfect head. Nose is earthy coffee. Tastes of coffee, earth, light chocolate, light perfume, touch of plum. Roasty finish. Very pleasant.
3.8 Found from bottle out of a variety pack. Pours a light black with a medium layer of near tan foam. Aroma is strong in coffee and malt. As is the flavor. Really enjoyable and makes for a great winter option.
4.7 Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout has a medium, beige head, a dark brown (nearly black) appearance, some bubbles, and moderate glass lacing. Aroma is of cream and dark-roasted malt & coffee. The flavor is of the same elements, with some coffee bitterness. The mouthfeel is high medium & slightly viscous, and Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout finishes medium dry. RJT
3.8 12oz bottle picked up at South Lyndale Liquors in a winter sampler pack. Consumed from a large snifter glass. Aromatic with plenty of coffee characteristics. Roasty chocolate qualities. Coffee black in color with about a half finger of tan head. Taste is slightly sweet carrying all the coffee notes through...bittersweet chocolate, roasted nuts, slight fruitiness. Finish is very smooth. This one is easy to drink owning its commitment to coffee. Solid.
4.1 Bottle with commonmac. Black with medium tan head. Roasty chocolate coffee nose. Sweet and coffee alcohol burn. Medium body. Very good
4.0 Dark opaque appearance. Good head formation. Strong roasted coffee aroma, citrus, and a little sawdust. Lots of coffee, lots of cocoa, dark roasted bitterness and plenty of hop citrus in the finish.
4.5 This is a great coffee stout with a robust, rich coffee flavor and layered chocolate flavors of bittersweet chocolate, dark chocolate and carmel like flavors. This coffee stout pours very dark brown, with a healthy tan head and lacing. Total stout coffee aroma and mouth feel with a slight bitter, yet smooth finish. Very enjoyable!
4.3 Coffee off the nose. Beautiful dark berry notes on the tongue as the coffee finishes. Beautiful chewy palate. Love it.
3.6 12 oz bottle. Smells of coffee with a hint of chocolate. Black, like coffee in the glass. Tastes of coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, with a splash of hop bitterness. The finish reminds me of chocolate covered espresso beans. Nice complex flavor. Different from my norm, but well appreciated.
4.0 From a 12 oz bottle into a St Bernardus stem glass. Pours dark brown with brown head and lace. Aroma of dark chocolate molten cake. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, vanilla, minerals. Overall rich, flavorful, pretty darn tasty and drinkable for the style.
4.3 Three 12-ouncers bottled 09/27/2018, from a winter mixed 12-pack purchased at Kroger. Pours jet black and has a disc of brown sugar foam on top. Aroma is dark roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate and a touch of caramel. Flavors of espresso, cocoa, piquant green herb and a bit of sour cream. A surprising but welcome hint of bacon and smoke appear later in the long finish. Medium bodied with smooth medium carbonation and a chuggable balance.
3.7 Ar: coffee, roasted malt Ap: dark, creamy head T: med bitterness, low sweetness P: med body
3.9 Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Opq, near-black with a small tan head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and nuts. Taste biscuit much the same. Medium/full body and low/medium carbonation with a soft, creamy mouthfeel.
3.6 Bottle at Bagby, Oceanside. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma and taste of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla. The finish was on the dry side.
3.8 @ Bagby Oceanside CA, 18-2-23: Trevlig kaffe och lite vanilj. Torr munnkänsla. Gott
3.9 12oz bottle from this year's Snowpack. Dark brown nearly black with a frothy and persistent beige head. Prominent coffee as expected, but also tasty dark chocolate, vanilla, nuts. Not overly sweet (good thing). Lowish carbonation and a medium body. Well balanced coffee finish with roasty and cocoa notes to close out. Very enjoyable.
3.0 Bottle. Dark brown with a beige head that's soon a coat. Aroma of syrup-sweetened over-roasted iced coffee, pretty firm roasted malt, burnt sugar. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. A dull bitterness at the end rather flattens the palate. The taste otherwise echoes the aroma. A bit of a miss for me.
3.8 Rich, deep dark brown coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall off-white head that fades relatively slowly. Aroma of rich chocolate, a good sweetness from lactose and a tiny bit of coffee bitterness around, but there is more of the roasted malt and bitterness than anything else. Medium-bodied; Assertive coffee and chocolate flavours with a bigger roasty and earthier malt flavour with some burnt flavours and a deep pungent grainy note near the end. Aftertaste shows some sugars that are caramelised or just plain burnt with a big dose of coffee bitterness and a lot of chocolate flavours with some mushrooms and earth near the end. Overall, a nice and deeper stout with some definite coffee flavours throughout, but also a lot of chocolate and grainy notes. Nice to sample, especially as this is the first I've ever seen this beer. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Arlington (Columbia Pike), Virginia on 22-November-2017 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-January-2018.
3.8 Dark pour, one finger head. Smells like iced coffee. The flavor follows suit, iced coffee infused with chocolate liquer flavors. Very mild sweetness. This was one of the more enjoyable nonimperial stouts I’ve had recently.
3.5 Quite nice and thick. These guys always bring good new beers. Very coffee like in many features..
4.4 A fine coffee stout that delivers deep roast bean aroma and flavor, but is still beery. Notes of dark chocolate and caramel are there in background. Nice dark brown our with a lacy brown head. Drinks full but still light enough to chug. Long coffee fade. Excellent.
3.6 Bottle, pores dark black with half inch tan head. Coffee, coffee, coffee, a little chocolate, maybe some caramel nice medium body. A coffee lovers dream.
3.9 1/03/2017 (12 fl. oz. bottle): Mocha-like aroma of medium-roast coffee with milk and semi-sweet chocolate; deep coffee brown color with a dense, lasting tan-colored head; rich mocha flavor (semi-sweet chocolate and coffee that isn't overpowering or burnt), balanced sweetness, dark fruits as the beer warms, roasty and slightly nutty in the finish (more espresso-like finish as the beer warms as well); medium-full bodied, smooth and creamy mouthfeel; really quite an excellent coffee stout and I like it very much!
4.0 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours dark brown with a creamy, tan head and lacing. The aroma is coffee, vanilla, and caramel. The taste is the same. The sweetness is balanced nicely with a dry bitterness. The carbonation is higher than expected and adds to the character of this. This is really good.
3.5 12 oz. botle from the"Snowpack" mix pack. Fred Meyer Salem OR Black body with brown showing at the edges..great thick and creamy light tan head, Aroma of creamy sweet medium roasted coffee and slightly burnt toast. Taste is the same but with the coffee a bit stronger and the sugary cream coming in at the end..then a bitter dark chocolate after taste. Mouth feel is rather flat ..weirdly its better straight from the bottle. OK beer..but had many far better coffee stouts/porteers.
4.1 Black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma is fantastic, roasted malts, sugar and coffee. Nice creamy body. Covfefe is definitely there, but not bitter at all. Almost a milk stout, seems like there is some lactose in there. Caramel on the back end. Pretty darn good.
