3.7 Bottle. Clear light amber body. Off-white, frothy head. Light but pleasant aroma: Toasted grain, orange, biscuits, pepper, light pine. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Some spiciness shows up in the finish, but non-assertive hops overall. Still, nice balance and easy drinking.
3.7 Amber in color clear with a thin white head. Super hops forward flavor and finish. This was a very tasty IPA.
3.4 Bottled onPours a clear golden with a strong thick head with great retention. Aromas light grain, sight blueberry and hay. Flavors are of light blueberry, slight pepper, light grass and some hay. Medium dry, medium bitter and lightly sweet. This is the first time I’ve tasted blueberry like impressions in an ipa. This hop is generally on the herbal/floral side. Wish there was a hop that had a stronger blueberry impression so I could mix it with the nelson sauvin hop (grape impressions).
3.6 Bottle:   Fairly bright citrusy and somewhat sweet IPA.   Clean, a little touch of earth on the finish.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Clean finish, nice balance but not too heavy.   A touch of peel and pith linger.   Not one of their best IPAs, but a solid IPA as most of their beers are.
4.1 on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear medium amber with a rocky, bubbly white head, wide bands of lace. A good looking drink. Aroma has citrus and malt, very appealing. Taste is caramel malt that blossoms in the palate, joined by full floral hops in a 50-50 shared flavor the rest of the way. A really solid IPA that doesn’t get overwhelmed by the hops. However, don’t misunderstand - this is a hoppy brew. High recommendations.
3.5 Bomber. Pours a clear golden color. Thin white head with no lacing to speak of. Light in aromas and taste. This beer has a cracker-like maltiness with a pepper spice and moderate sweetness. Nothing too memorable here but enjoyable. All said, this beer is reaching the end of 100 Days though.
4.5 Sierra Nevada Harvest Single Hop IPA- 291 Varietal has a medium, slightly off-white head, a semi-clear, orange-gold, bubbly appearance, with powdery, tan sediment suspended throughout, and a single, lacy residue left on the glass. Aroma is of sweet, white bread and a touch of mild hop oil and citrus. Taste is of the same things, and the bitterness is subdued and mellow. There is a black pepper aspect, as others have mentioned. Mouthfeel is medium, and Sierra Nevada Harvest Single Hop IPA- 291 Varietal finishes somewhat crisp and highly drinkable. Overall, this is an outstanding effort. RJT
3.8 had a pint over at Crazy K’s sit down Place .. . deep yellow gold .. mild head .. . col. mustard .. . a very well balanced beer, a bit dry .. . goes down well enough .. . i think i like this better than the regular harvest .. . . There’s a man in my neighborhood who is in the Guinness Book of Records for having forty three concussions; he lives very close actually, just a stone’s throw away…
3.7 Clear golden yellow body with a foamy white head. Fresh cracker malt aroma with a light yeastiness. Light, rye-like dryness with strong black pepper and light hay components. Very light caramel and pear sweetness comes through to help balance out the dry bitterness that slowly grips the tongue and holds on with thistlely pricklyness. Although the bitterness is strong, it’s not sticky which makes this relatively easy to drink and quite refreshing. Another cool experiment from Sierra Nevada and I’m looking forward to the other 4 bottles in this series.
3.1 Pours a lighter shade of amber-gold, quite clear. The head is thick and yellowed white. I’m excited to report that there’s moderate lacing and decent head retention. Such excitement. Anywho, the aroma has more caramel-sweet malt than expected. Bit disappointing to get crystal malt upfront on a hop-focused IPA but it’s pleasant enough, which I assume is the point. The hop aromas are a touch ho-hum. I’m getting a good dose of grass, some peppercorn spice, a little bit of lemon and pine, mixed berries, hay, juniper. It’s alright, just not terribly exciting and not very strong. Even though I’m not loving the hop notes, I wish it was amped up. The lightly caramel and dough sweet malt isn’t exactly wowing me. The taste has a bit more hop presence, but I’d still prefer more. The malt keeps things pleasant enough, though the hop spice does give the beer a little tingle. Moderately dry. Moderately bitter. Moderately interesting. The finish could be cleaned up some. A little much grain flavor lingers for my taste. Very grassy hop flavor throughout. Wish the berry flavor came through more, but it’s pretty mild in the taste. Pleasant enough and easy enough to drink. Mouthfeel is a touch prickly from the hops, but it’s a pretty gentle IPA, really. Normal carbonation, just in case you were wondering if SN started a Méthode Champenoise program without telling anyone. Due to random happenstance, I’ve had this beer twice previously on tap - random SF bars seem to have received kegs for their SN seasonal/special tap - and I was really hoping it would be a bit better out of a bottle. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Still, it’s not bad. I just wish that it was a bit more refined, a bit more interesting, a bit more tasty, etc. This is one of the weaker new beers that I’ve had from SN in awhile.
3.6 Gold, lasting stark white head.Vague hop nose.Soft malt with fruity notes.Very late big long botter hop finish. Nicely balanced
3.3 On tap at the Libertine 48 Sierra Nevada Tap Takeover. Pours a light orange with moderate white head. Aroma was lacking since it was in a shaker glass. Slight pine. Taste is rather light with moderate bitterness. There was definitely some spice/pepper in it with more generic fruit than I would say blueberry. Not that memorable.
3.8 On draft. Pours a hazy golden with a thick off-white head that leaves a wall of intricate lace. Nose involves earthy, leafy tea and peach notes, along with some pine and citric stuff. Pretty sweet, maybe a bit sweeter than I wanted, with a fair and not overwhelming bitterness. Medium bodied, oily, bright, with a drying leafy bitter finish. Tasty brew, nice to try.
1.4 Rich, caramel and bronze tinted copper coloured body with a perfect, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of grass, nuts, earth, metal and a very mild yeast note with some honey and bread as well. Medium-bodied; Chewy malty flavour at first with a large grass and herbal bite right afterwards. Funky dry and grapefruity character and a lot of assertive floral bitterness and medicinal pungency noticeable right afterwards in the finish. Aftertaste isn’t too pleasant with not much hop flavour and a horribly bitter, pungent herbal spice and not much hops at all. Overall, a beer that I really wasn’t expecting and tastes like a mix between a bitter metal coin and a malty, nutty cardboardie malt liqour or a bitter european strong lager. Not good in the slightest bit, and I can’t think of why people enjoyed this at all!?! I sampled this 24 ounce bottle (odd size, but I know it’s SN) purchased from Whole Foods in Tyson’s Corner (Falls Church), Virginia on 13-March-2014 for US$4.99 sampled at home in Washington on 17-May-2014.
3.5 Pours gold with white head and nice lacing. Aroma of light fruit, floral notes, and grass hops. Taste is the he same with some spicy hops and breadiness.
3.3 On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with small frothy white head. The aroma is floral hop and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with dry hop and pepper with lingering dry finish. Good.
3.7 Clear golden orange full three-finger head that dissipated slowly to a nice solid film and left thick sticky lace. Bright hoppy aroma with grapefruit, grass, mint and black pepper. Bitterness up front onthe palate, mostly grapefruit, with spices and black pepper and a hint of bready malt. Full body, generous carbonation creamy smooth mouthfeel and a crisp bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle.. Poured a golden color with an averaged sized off white head. Floral hops, spicy, and citrus.
3.1 On tap at Brass Tap in Pembroke Pines. Pours golden with a white head and aroma of hops and malt. Taste is balanced, of hops and malt with floral notes, straw, caramel, and grass leading to a bitter finish.
3.8 On tap at Brass Tap, Pembroke Pines, pours a golden yellow pour with a nice frothy head. Nose is deep citrus with pine and resin. Taste is very bitter with fresh citrus , pine and resin. Finish is very bitter and moderately long. Descent IPA. Quaff Score 7 / 10
3.7 Bottle shared with Dad. Aroma is super interesting with floral and pepper. Pours golden with great carb and a sticky big head. Taste is unique with pineapple, floral, pink peppercorn, and blueberry stem. Nice and bitter but not overly so. A clean IPA and worth chugging a couple.
3.6 Aroma is citrus, spices, light tropical fruit and a fruit twang. The flavor is citrus, spices, malts, slight heat, slightly funky tropical fruit and a bitter and dryish finish.
3.7 Not sure about the "berry like flavors" it claims to have. Of course, exclusively drinking blue cherry Gatorade and Mountain Dew Fierce Berry for two years may have altered my taste buds a bit.
4.2 Bottle. Picture-perfect pour ... bright golden-amber with a stoic, rolling head of sticky white foam. There’s a nice little whiff of fresh, floral hops that escapes thru the foam to hint at what’s beneath. There’s a big oily backdrop, with wavetop bits of spice. West coast to the bone. 3.2 A steady pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces a fat-two finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a nice, bright amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, copper-tinged, rich golden hue when held up to the light. During my first quick sniff, the aroma smells a bit grassy, perhaps even slightly skunky. Lots of dried grassy notes, straw, some wild flower like notes, some grassy herbal notes as well as a back drop of supporting, soft, lemon like character, and a green, not quite ripe fruit character. Light bodied, effervescent, and pretty dry, this plays up a grassy, herbal hop character and accentuates a bitterness in the finish. There is a soft, funky, herbal, slightly dank hop character here that gets a bit peppery, definitely a bit of hemp seed as well, and an earthy herbal character that is grassy like coriander, but doesn’t have the clean citrusy lemon like note. The hop character does provide a hint of citrus like character, perhaps a spicy berry character, and some grassy tropical fruit notes, all of which are more of a suggestion than and expressive note. Perhaps the beer is a touch too light, such that it is not able to support the hop character better; though the nose is much the same. To be honest this reminds me of cheap, stale beer left overnight after a college kegger; I don’t think it is that the beer has been mistreated, rather that it is just the nature of this particular hop. I am left asking why? It is certainly a unique hop, but it doesn’t have the expressiveness of a decent new world hop, nor the refinement or balance of the old-world hop varietals; 291 seems like a definite dud. This isn’t bad, and is certainly at least serviceable, but I was hoping for an expressive, or at least interesting hop character here, and this just doesn’t quite do it.
3.7 Amber color with a thick whitish tan head. Punchy, bitter and hoppy. Crisp with a sharp finish. Strong and full, dry with light citrus zest.
3.7 This pours a nice clear golden color with white head. Light fruit, flowers, and some citrus on the nose; all follow onto the palate. I’m not getting any blueberry flavors from this, but there is a little spice on the finish.
3.4 Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Gold in colour (very light for a SN beer), with medium carbonation. Aromas are of cut grass, peppery hop, and a bit of white grapefruit. Not getting much of the berry thing in the mouth, but the spicy pepper notes are there in spades. A bit of grassiness, and grainy pale malt flavors are along for the ride too. Medium bodied with a respectable amount of bitterness. Not bad, but a bit underwhelming.
3.7 bottle - Pours clear copper with a big, dense, craggy, off-white head. It smells of floral and pine. The tastes is moderately to strongly bitter with a tasty malt balance. It’s medium bodied, has soft carbonation and the bitterness lingers pleasantly. Very good.
4.0 Pours a medium gold with a very nice lasting creamy head. Aroma is floral and spicy, reminds me a bit of oregano. Flavor is floral, with a faint hint of blackberry on the finish. Oregano still clearly present. Crackery malt backbone. Would be a great pizza beer.
