Sierra Nevada India Pale Ale

Sierra Nevada India Pale Ale

Brewed using a blend of English malts. Magnum hops are used for the early hop addition, with Goldings for finishing and dry hopping. A very flavorful and hoppy ale.

Note: This beer is no longer made and has not been bottled for a few years now. It was replaced by Torpedo.

3.5 Bevuta in bottiglia. IPA senza infamia e senza lode, dorata penetrante con buona schiuma, correttamente luppolata ma senza niente di eccezionale. Corpo medio. Discreta.
3.5 Not much of a scent, light golden color. Can lightly taste the hops, really drinkable.
3.5 Light amber colour with a thin head. Faint hop aroma. Flavour is mildly sweet with medium bitterness and taste of hops.
3.7 Rigtig meget citrus og grape ,korn og halm, flot skum og blød gul, meget tung bitter men dejlig.
3.7 Bottle: White foamy head. Pours a clear very dark orange to light brown beer. Smell a lot of hops and some bitterness and flower, as well as hints of fruit (citrus, grapefruit, pineapple). Taste a well balanced hoppy/bitter ipa: again lot of hops, fruit, hint of spices and malts. Nicely bitter and bit dry in the end, well balanced.
4.0 12 oz. bottle Poured with a half-inch head with very nice lacing all the way down the mug. Appearance was a very nice caramel color. Looked very good Smell has faint hint of citrus to me, very good overall. Taste is what you would expect from a top-notch IPA, very bitter. I’m not the biggest fan of IPAs but this one is good if you like it bitter. Mouthfeel is just above average, not very heavy. Drinkability depends on your tastes, but if you like IPAs, I believe you should be able to down a few of these with no problem. Overall a very srong outing once again from Sierra Nevada.
3.1 On tap at MBBF in Idaho Falls Appearance: Slightly hazy amber with a small white head Aroma: Grapefruit and piney Taste: Grapefruit, malts and bittering in the finish A decent ipa.
3.5 Pretty decent, good hop taste but not overpoweringly dominant as can be the case with an IPA, this is well balanced. Citrusey notes as well add it an interesting flavour, easy-drinking, good beer.
3.3 tastes of grapefruit with the bitterness of hops. When pairing with food the food needs a strong flavor otherwise the beer will overpower it.
3.5 I saw this at the store and figured "why not". The beer is orange and almost identical in appearance to Celebration Ale. The taste was decent but very English style. I think the American IPA’s have ruined my palate because I could not find anything special here. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-02-2007 21:43:16

3.3 (br-btl gn-lbl, 6 pack, 6.9%) lct-gl, thin-head, med co2, med-full body, smooth. aroma: sweet earthy-hop pine-hop. flavor: fruity co2 pine-hop T1, earthy-fruity-hop T2, fairly-dry hop-bitter T3. shallow/bright flavor, lacks malty backbone to support the hops. dryness saves it from over-hoppiness, fairly drinkable but no session beer.
3.8 On tap at Barley’s Smokehouse. Pours clear copper with a medium beige head. Citrus and piney hop nose with some malt. Crisp and piney hop flavor, then some malt, then the citrus kicks in. Lasting bitter finish. Good stuff. Would like to try it side by side with Torpedo.
3.5 One of my into to craft beer beers. Wonderful balance. Not too hoppy and great for a beginner or a seasoned drinker. Nice clean crisp flavors and always refreshing and consistent.
2.8 Bottle from a 6-pack. Fairly underwhelming. Pours amber with thin head. Slight hop aroma, hop taste, overly bitter hop finish.
3.5 Bottle. Amber beer with a honeyed hop taste and a big bitter finish. The Civic or Corolla of mass produced beers because of its reliability. It’s found pretty much everywhere, it’s a guarantee that it will be satisfying and it always gets respect in a joint where everyone else is just chuggin bud lights. If an establishment’s beer list is sub par then this is my fall back beer and that goes a long way.
2.5 This beer was bitter but not in a good way. I like a good IPA from time to time and like to think that I have tried some very good ones but in this case something just seemed off. The finish was bitter and almost pungent. I’ve tried it a couple of times so I don’t know what the deal is. This was for sure a miss in my book.
3.6 Tap. Poured light golden with a nice white head. Very well balanced IPA, highly drinkable. Not too hoppy, very smooth, light bodied ipa. Good stuff.
3.3 Disappointing... I expected a west coast IPA with a big floral hop flavor. Not distinctive and simply not enough of a hop flavor. If you like balanced IPAs, maybe you’d like this more than I do.
3.4 Golden cloudy orange in color... Aroma much more subtle than the torpedo... Fairly piney, flavor of the hops is evident... Not terribly or overly bitter however, a gentle bitter finish... Good beer, like the torpedo better though...
3.2 Bottle and draft. Pours an amber body with a white head. Light citrus, floral notes, some light pine and plenty of malt. Nothing stand out.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a orange/gold color. Aroma was the usual suspects pine, citrus and some caramel. A bit earthy to. Taste is hoppy with some piney notes and a nice malt backbone that creates a good balance. Bitter finish.
3.7 Bottle at BeerBistro. Orangey gold, puffy thickish pour. Juicier fuller hops than the Pale Ale, a little more citrusy with some bite. Very frontal with a nice lingering clean finish. Fruity malt is very complimentary. Laclks offputting bitterness. I found this one bottle extremely good in an approachable way.
3.7 Draft at BJs. Pours a rich amber with a creamy white bubbly head. Aroma is toasted malt. Flavor is impressively crisp, with a very nice balance of malt to resiny hop. Bitterness lingers on the palate for longer than I expected. Not overly complex but very good.
3.3 The first thing i noticed was how clear this was for an IPA. had that normal IPA smells, citrus, pine, etc. taste is alright, sort of middle of the road IPA, nothing too distinctive. A good IPA but not one i will seek out again.
3.4 12 oz bottle purchased from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Poured a clear gold/orange color with a one finger white head. The aroma was citrus and earth. The flavor was caramel with a citrus hop finish. The carbonation was a bit soft. The mouthfeel was crisp and the body was medium. This is another of Sierra Nevada’s good IPAs.
3.5 Draught at 99 Bottles. Amber with a lasting head. Light earthy and hoppy aroma. The flavor has a fat caramel malt body, almost a bit buttery, with a firm woody and citrucy hop bite. The bitterness creeps up on you, but its there. More malt than their other IPAs, or maybe thats just the english hops not popping as much as the typical SN hop bill. For an English styled IPA, I can dig this. Different from your usual west coast, dry, supper hoppy IPA. A nice change.
3.7 Draught @ The Brew Kettle, Strongsville, Ohio - Pours amber, good head. Aroma is lots of hops, but you can tell there is some malts waiting as well. Very well balanced taste with a subdued burst of hops and very nice sweet malts. If you are into IPAs that do not necessarily punch you in the crotch, this is perfect. Great summer drinking ale.
3.5 Very high quality for a highly available beer. A clean taste with decent hops. Very well balanced in taste, aroma, and appearance.
3.5 This is my go to beer in most liquor stores when I feel saucy. A pretty standard IPA that gives you the bite you’d expect when you want ipa’s
