Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen

Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

3.0 As far as a Hefeweizen goes, this just doesn't cut it for me. I love Sierra Nevada, just not this beer. Nobody competes with the Germans, especially Erdinger and Schofferhoffer
3.5 Bottle, 355 ml at Valhalla, Zagreb. Hazy yellow with medium white head. Malty, banana, somewhat yeasty, sweetish. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied.
3.7 Average frothy white head. Good lacing. Mostly diminishing. Cloudy light-yellow body. Aroma: moderate yeasty, dough, banana, clove and vanilla. Initial and final flavors: moderate sweet; long duration. Palate: medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation and metallic finish. dulçor banana, cravo e baunilha; sabor lembra levedura e massa de pão, assim como o aroma, saborosa, sem defeitos. Boa drinkability. Refrescante. 50 s

3.3 Hazy golden color, small white head. Aroma lemon, grain, banana. Taste, lemon, banana, honey, grain.
3.9 pours cloudy mustard color with a lasting white head. Nose is fresh banana and clove. Fun creamy feel to this guy as the spice comes through on the tongue, a hint of lime. Good take on the style.
3.3 0,35l bottle. Pours hazy golden with white head. Aroma of banana, clove, banana based candy. Taste is banana and clove, but not much else. Slightly wheaty. It is refreshing though.
2.5 Found from bottle from Ingles in Franklin, NC. Pours a straw yellow. Would be a decent summer beer. Maybe a tad better than average for the style.
3.0 On tap at Wolfgang Puck Bar And Grille, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nv. Cloudy yellow with white head. Malts, hops, yeast, banana.
3.8 Nice banana and bubblegum aroma. Very cloudy yellow color with small sized white head. Banana and bubblegum, some of that hefeweizen sourness, but mostly sweet. Medium body, soft carbonation. Sweet cloves and banana finish. Very good. //bottle
3.7 Bottle, 0.355l. Hazy orange pour, one finger creamy white head. Very good retention, thick lacing on the glass as it goes down. Refreshing nose, wheat and grass paired with strong coriander notes and subtle citrus tart. Thin body, medium carbonation. A bit prickly. Fizzy mouthfeel, average texture. Sour and sweet taste. Aroma of wheat, yeast, grains and grass. Coriander, citrus tart. Mild banana. Herbal peppery touch. Slightly dry. Medium lasting finish. Overall, good and refreshing weizen with a nice herbal touch. Lightweight and easily drinkable.
3.7 0.33 l bottle shared with Marko and Anna God. Thanks! Cloudy golden, small creamy white head. Nicely spicy, banana bread, lemony, very light phenols, very soft, juicy. Light grainy, estery and spicy hops in the finish. Soft texture, drinkable, moderate finish. Good.
3.8 Bottle. Misty yellow-golden body, white head, smooth small white head. Interesting aroma, banana, lime, wheat malt, vague bubblegum. Smooth taste, citric, smooth, silky, bit lime, bit wheat malt, gum. This is excellent, really excellent. I simply can't find a fault with it. Slightly drier than I would like it to be, but this can go head to head with most German ones, if not all. Superb.
3.8 Hazy yellow color with small white head. Clove, malts and coriander with fruity and light spicy notes. Sweet fruity taste with light dry yeasty tones. Quite drinkable and smooth.
3.3 Pivo u flaši. Popijeno u Stella Beer2Go dućanu i kušaoni piva u Medulinu.
3.2 Pours a hazy gold, with a nice white head. Aroma of malts and wheat. Taste of a good hefe. Spicy and very drinkable. Thumbs up.
3.3 Copenhagen 26/8 2018. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælledtorv, Kbh Ø. Usual Sierra Nevada label design with tranquil forest Lake. Pours hazy golden yellow with small white head. Disappears more or less after a minute. Small patches of foam ledt behind. No Lacing. Aroma is intense and fruity. Sugary lemonadeish feel. Sweet banana, tart unripe berries, citrus, lemon. Medium carbonation. Thin, watery, lively, prickly texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by medium tart bitterness. Aftertaste is sourish with sugary undercurrent. Fairly short. Decent take on a Hefeweizen which does not add much news to the style.
1.7 Served out of the bottle, I found a lack of the yeasty cloudiness I'd expect in a traditional Hefeweizen. Can't be compared to any traditional German-brewed weissbiers.
3.5 Banana bread on the nose with opaque yellow color and thick white head. Flavor of sweet banana bread typical of Hefeweizen. Solid taste.
3.7 I'd say this is one of the better wheats out there. There's a good amount of malts, fruits, and spices to offset the wheaty flavors of the grain. The aroma is a little yeasty and borderline skunky, but this is standard with this style. Appearance is a pale hazy/cloudy yellow, maybe a hint of orange in there. Tastes of wheat and barley oats, caramel malts, sugar, banana, clove, yeast, and slight hops. I like this better than their SNPA. Would buy again, especially as a daytime or lighter premium lawnmower beer.
3.7 Żółte lekko mętne piwo z niezłą pianą. Aromat owocowy głównie banany trochę rodzynek, smak trochę gorszy w stosunku do aromatu. Ogólnie niezły przedstawiciel stylu
3.4 hazy bright golden with a medium white head; aroma is faint banana and some malty sweetness; taste is banana, a hint of spice, quite sweet, a little too sweet; texture is creamy with low to medium carbonation and a medium body
3.8 A little cloudy/hazy. Faintly sweet, tropical fruity but not like cider. Medium body, easy to drink. Nice summer beer
3.7 Smells really nice with notes of wet grains, bananas, spicy tart, lemon. Nothing unpleasant here, everything seems balanced. So is the taste, juicy and tarty, following the nose. Creamy, with lemons, yeast, but nothing out of place. This beer feels balanced and refreshing and it's up there with the best hefes in the business.
3.7 Bottle from Antenna America. Pours a bright pale gold, clouds up well with final yeasty pour, lasting white foam coating the sides. Lovely aroma of bananas, spices, creamy wheat, a hint of bandaid phenol. Solid flavour, plenty of tingly spice running through, tasty wheat/fruit balance. Has a perhaps slightly high bitterness feel and crispness for the style, but enough smooth creaminess in the body to keep it in check. Well made, up with the better ones made outside of Germany.
3.5 (12oz bottle) AROMA: very nice german wheat beer nose, yeast, dough, hint of cloves, additional herbal notes, floral, also a hint of banana APPEARANCE: medium straw yellow, slightly cloudy, white head, uniformly tight foam, thin creamy residual TASTE: medium malt, sweet wheat and corn, yeasty, sour biscuit, tart dairy, herbal notes, some acidity PALATE: light medium body, soft/smooth in the mouth, some creaminess but also a tad watery OVERALL: a solid Weiss Beer, good German characteristics, I really enjoyed the nose, just a bit light in body and flavor, I would buy again.
3.6 Bottle, UK import, source not recorded. Backlog entry. Entering my historic scores for US beers whilst visiting New York. No tasting notes kept, just rating.
4.1 Had this one for the first time and quickly became my highest rated hef. Golden and tasty.
3.6 (Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen) Bottle 355ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 4.8% Pale orange coloured body, hazy, with a minimal thin white head on top, disappearing straight away. Aroma of wheat, grains, sugars, ripe pears and bananas. Taste is sweet with wheat, malts, grains, earthy notes, ripe fruits. Medium body. Pretty good.
