Sierra Nevada Stout

Sierra Nevada Stout

Before Sierra Nevada was a reality, our founders brewed beer at home and dreamed of building a brewery one day. Back then, they brewed the beers they wanted to drink—bold and full of flavor. Stouts had always been a favorite, so when we needed a big and rich beer to test out the brewing system at our fledgling brewery, stout was the obvious choice. Thirty years later, not much has changed. We’re still brewing the beers we want to drink and our classic Stout is the same as it’s ever been—big, rich, bold, black as night and filled with the wild-eyed passion of which dreams are made.

3.8 Bottle from an online shop. It's a nice dark dark pour with a tall, fine-bubbled head when poured from a decent height. Bitterness and dark coffee-like roast notes hit the nose with a bit of malty sweet background. Flavor is a great balance of malty body, moving to mild bitterness, and finishing with lingering chocolate malt notes and a dark roast aftertaste. Yeah! That's a good stout.

4.5 Aroma : Deeply roasted rich chocolate maltiness, double espresso coffee, light touch of dark red fruits, burnt wood/charcoal/ash with a classic earthy note. Taste : As aroma. Full bodied; so thick you could stand a spoon up in it. Intense dry roasty ashy bitterness throughout. Absolutly fabulous. In my all time top 4 beers ever!

3.1 Bright black, smelling of roasted malts, toast and light herbal. A bit thin with sweet-bitter roast notes. Semi bitter on the palate.
3.1 Nearly completely black with a 2cm porous but persistent tan head. Dark burnt toast malts in the nose with notes of caramel and coffee. Intensive almost burnt espresso with sugar with long lingering burnt coffee note in the mouth. Tiny bit too burnt but still drinkable.
3.8 12oz bottle from Beers of Europe and drunk on 02/11/2006. Can’t say I’d had too many American stouts up to this point, and I really liked this. That bit more carbonated than the cask beers I was used to, but full, rich and roasty too.

3.6 Not my favourite Sierra Nevada offering. I guess I come from a more traditional place when it comes to Stout. My 2 baselines are Guinness and the CUB Invalid Stout. I will still drink this of course as it isn't fizzy yellow piss water
Tolles Programm.

2.9 Pours pitch black, topped with solid, creamy beige head. Mild malty nose, slight chocolate and nothing else. Mild sweetness, chocolate, medium bitterness and a bit metallic finish. Not the best one, to be honest.
