Sierra Nevada / Tree House Beer Camp East Meets West

Sierra Nevada / Tree House Beer Camp East Meets West

An IPA, of course. We’re blending our two approaches to the IPA in this East Meets West IPA. Sierra Nevada’s malt body and profile was blended with the heavy-handed, very late hopping schedule employed by Tree House to create a new, hybrid IPA. Lightly bitter and heavy with citrus-like hop flavor.

3.8 CAN. Solid golden colour with thin white head.. Very inviting hop aroma.. Nice thick mouthfeel, laces the tongue, balanced well, hops hops hops.. Sourced RW
3.8 Sample during the "Collaboration Beers On Deck 2!" event on 08/13/2017. This beer is a clear deep golden color with a thick foamy white head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, floral hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of tropical fruit, herbal hops and rye malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
3.7 Can on pourch with Patty and Anne. Pours a clear, bright gold with a small bubbly white head. Juicy citrus aroma that hits you as soon as you open the can. Lots of citrus on the flavor with a light malt base. Light bitterness on the tongue. Enjoyable IPA!
3.4 Draft at Arnold's - nose is citrus. Sip adds sweaty armpits, faint pineapple, and not that hoppy. Balanced as an ipa gets.
3.9 Can from the box set. Hazy orange golden with a low, fine head. Nose is citrus, tropical fruit, lemon, orange, grapefuit. Sweet and juicy flavor, full body, malty biscuits, and a lightly bitter, prickly finish. Good stuff.
3.5 Can. Orange pour with slight haze. Big fluffy white head. Honey sweetness, citrus, some pine. Sharp hop bite.
3.9 Can from Wegman's Malvern. pours golden with a thick white head. Leaves a shitload of lacing. Lots of tropical notes especially lemon on the nose and tongue. Very balanced. Finished clean. Nice IPA.
3.1 Hazy apricot color, sudsy head quickly fades into decent lacing. Loads of tiny, lightly colored particulate in suspension throughout. Canned on 04/28/17, consumed on 09/02/17. Musty nose, inyerface bitterness throughout the ride. Washes with persistent bitterness and some sweetness, resin. Grapefruit, burnt toast, sharp cheese, not much complexity past the bitter hops. 16oz can from 12 pack Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America Variety Pack $24.99 at Total Wine and More, Boca Raton, Florida
3.6 Can from mixed pack. Ever so slightly hazy old pour with a large cream. White head. Candied lemon peel and some pine on the nose. Gentle honeyed cereal. Medium / full body. Pronounced brioche-like sweetness. Dry, peppery finish. Punchy citrus and pine character throughout. A bit oily and fat. Solid.
3.7 Slightly hazy golden and light copper coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of grapefruits, oranges, citrus, grass and a dose of light herbal hops along with some mellow sugars and a touch of malt. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very fruity flavours without much bitterness, but more of a dry and juicy flavour from the hops/fruits. Aftertaste shows some light bitterness, some mellow hops and herbal flavours and a ton of juice and fruity notes throughout. Overall, a nice and refreshing beer with a lot of fruit qualities, some nice dry notes and a fresh hop flavour without any bitterness at all. Nice, but not an amazing IPA nor one that must be tried! Glad to see this in the sampler pack from Sierra Nevada and a worthy addition. I sampled this sixteen ounce pint can purchased as part of the mixed twelve pack, purchased at Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 12-August-2017 for US$25,99/twelve pack, sampled at home in Washington on 31-August-2017.
3.8 Can sample at a tasting at troubles’ place. Thanks troubles. Clear gold with a big white head. Bitter aroma, a little scallion, then mango and papaya. Bitter, onion, a little tropical fruit nectar sweetness. Bitter finish, tropical fruit aftertaste, medium-to-full body.
3.6 Hazed light golden liquid. Tall, lasting beige head. Yup, hops in the aromas. Pine and citric notes. Hint of caramel, grass and resin. Fairly dry start, which leads to some tropical fruity flavors. Pineapple, mango are prevalent. Malt bill seems a bit musty in the finish and the linger is dry and harshly bitter.
4.1 Pint can pours with a near clear deep gold body that supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up a dash of pine hops and then thin cantaloupe and tangy tangerine. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of bitter pine, pineapple and grapefruit hoppiness. The bitterness is met by a juicy cantaloupe and mango kind of malt sweetened flavor hoppiness. Solid IPA
3.7 16 ounce can. Medium gold color. Frothy white head. Fragrant citrus hop nose is subtle. Crisp bittersweet malt flavor. Notes of citrus, peach and mint. Hoppy finish is herbal and peppery. Nicely balanced and flavorful.
3.5 Poured from a 16 oz can. Aroma is citrus forward with grapefruit, orange, pine and resin. Light cracker malt notes and medium light caramel. Hints of tropical fruit. Pours a very clear, pale gold with a large, frothy, moderately thick, white head that recedes steadily. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor has a light sweetness and a fairly dry finish with some cracker malt and caramel notes. Moderately strong bitterness with some lingering resin and pith notes. Moderate grapefruit with lighter orange and faint tropical fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright IPA but it seems more like a west coast IPA than anything Treehouse is putting out these days. Too much malt, with too much bitterness and a resiny, grapefruti hop profile.
3.7 It pours golden and is fairly clear. It has a large, slightly off white head. Head retention is good. There is a definitive rich malt backbone with citrus aromas. There is also a low level of peach. It has a bready malt backbone. The citrus flavors and balance with moderate peach. It has a moderate body and is smooth. There is a low level of bitterness for an ipa and is easy drinking. Overall, this is an easy drinking IPA with plenty of citrus and peach flavors balance with a bready backbone.
3.6 Toasted malt, citrus and pine in the aroma. Slightly hazy pale yellow body with a very foamy white head. A bit of a spicy bite in the initial taste like rye followed by a more wheat-like taste and texture. A light taste of lemon and hay follows this. More earthy bitterness as you go which builds slightly but not in any way overwhelming. Light body. Finishes light and dry with a lasting but tame bitterness and citrus peel dryness.
3.8 On tap at Beervana. Pours clear bright yellow. Peach, orange, touch of biscuit, melon. Nice bitterness. Nice body. Good.
4.5 Poured from a 16 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a cloudy bronze color with a large white head. The aroma is a large dose of fruit with a wee bit of hops. The taste is tropical citrus with a nice hop blend.
3.6 Can. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit aroma with light summer fruit. Grapefruit and tropical fruit flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and tropical fruit lingers.
3.5 A steady pour produces a two finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a copper color with golden highlights that shows a brilliantly clear, bright copper / golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a soapy, crystal malt character to it that is a touch nutty. Once I start to dig a grapefruit zest, a touch of tangerine zest, and a touch of tropical fruit like hoppiness become noticeable, but vastly muted compared to what I was expecting. Solidly bitter with a lingering citrus hoppiness that gets a touch astringent towards the finish. The beer tastes much hoppier than it smells and it has me wonder if the two beers I drank previously could somehow have deadened my nose. Somewhat light bodied, but with a soft viscous mouthfeel, and a prickly, but smooth carbonation; the beer is quite easy drinking. Flavors of guava, kumquat zest, ruby-red grapefruit, tangerine zest, peach nectar, as well as some peppery pine notes, and a lingering herbal spiciness all play a prominent role here. The malt is a bit more subdued than in the nose, but still provides a toasty nuttiness, a caramelized grain note that has hints of sweet-tea, and a touch of English Biscuit like maltiness as well. The nose is fairly hoppy in the end, but I can’t figure out why it is so muted compared to what it should be, based on the description; the flavor does live up to the hop though. Enjoyable in the end, but a bit of a puzzle due to the nose.
3.9 can. lightly hazy golden with one finger head. big citrus and fruity notes, though i wouldn’t say it’s particularly juicy. reasonable bitterness.
3.7 Can: Cloudy yellow-orange with a small, off-white head. Nice grapefruit, caramel, pineapple aroma. Taste is sweet and soft citrus....orange, grapefruit. Orange-peel and piney bittering. Very juicy with a lot of flavour. Nice one.
3.5 Aroma: citrus, flowers, some notes of grass. Medium intensity. Taste: solid malty from the start, grapefruit bitterness and sourness in the middle with grassy bitter aftertaste
3.7 From a can. Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head. Tastes like lemon, grapefruit hops, bready malt, some cracker, and some resin. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like resin, lemon, grapefruit hops, and bready malt.
3.6 Pint can. Tropical fruit hop aroma with notes of grapefruit citrus, grass and some pine resiny notes. Pours cloudy golden colored with a large tan head that has excellent retention but little lacing. Starts juicy tropical fruit and grapefruit citrus hop flavors. Finishes dry, but quite smooth with some grassy notes as well as a hint of bitter pine resiny hops. Pretty nice East/West hybrid of IPA styles.
3.8 I like this, and definitely pick up on this beer leaning to the East Coast side. It pours hazy orange with a whole lot of head. The aroma is sweet and tangy. Pineapple, grass, and some sweet malt notes. The mouthfeel is fairly dense, and the flavor is pungent, bordering on dank. Not quite dank, but not far off. Rich citrus juice, a hint of vanilla, and then a west coast hop profile is apparently there on the finish. I could drink a lot of this.
3.3 Pounder: Lemongrass and pencil shavings nose. Hazy amber, medium head, nice lacing. Lemongrass, just a touch vegetal. Medium body, easy carbonation, resinous.
4.1 Aroma is dank hops, citrus/fruit and mildly grainy. The flavor is dank/slightly nutty hops, citrus/fruit, malts, mild grapefruit and a bitter/hint of tart finish.
3.7 The First to sell out at the Beer Zen Salt Valley thing but luckily someone shared some with me. Medium bodied with a soft round carbonation and juicy fruit hop aroma & flavor. Not as full on as Tree House but better than I’d been led to expect.
