3.7 Flesje gedeeld door Tomhendriksen en gedronken met Benzai. Zwart bier met beige schuim. Aroma van gebrande mout en koffie. De smaak van koffie en karamel met een vleugje chocolade. Nasmaak is iets bitter.
4.1 Thanks @ japppp. Deep dark black body with a tall, frothy, beige head. Aroma of salty licorice, soy sauce, chocolate. Taste is salty licorice again, coffee, milk chocolate. Slightly sourish finish, with notes of ashes and benchwood. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, oily texture.
2.8 bottle from VastActiv, thanks, pours black with a tan head. aroma is very herbal, spicey, licorice, salmiak, chocolate, Taste of dark malts, salmiak, licorice, laurel, lots of herbal notes, not fond of this taste, way to much herbs/salmiak flavors.
4.0 330ml bottle at The Porter. 2009 Vintage. Pours black with a thin tan head. Earthy malt aroma. Flavors are lightly roasted malt, cocoa, hints of coffee, soy. Soft carb, very smooth texture. Toasty malt finish with a touch of sweetness. Very enjoyable.
3.7 How: bottle Head: one finger, tan/ brown. Dissipates quickly. Colour: black, with red highlight. Aroma: nuts, smoke. Taste: medium/ full body, avarage carbonation, roasty, dark bread, some smoke, slight nuts, rich. Well balanced, quite long aftertaste with smoke/ roast. A good one, but not as good as I remembered.
4.1 Aroma kaffe, bær, sjokolade, røsted malt, nøtter. Utseende sort med brunt skum. Smak kaffe, mørk sjokolade, røsted malt, lakris, nøtter. Fyldig og smaksrik, god aroma, lakris i ettersmaken

3.7 33 cl bottle, vintage 2009, purchased at Two Angels Liquors. Black appearance with a lingering tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, bread, mild roast, light coffee notes and light chocolate. Similar flavor, rich, dark and malty with a moderate bittersweet balance. Medium to light body with a smooth feel and a softly carbonated finish. Good, but has hints of oxidation.
4.1 Luktar kaffe, bränt socker, rostad malt, toast. Smakar kaffe, toast och karamell. Lättdrucken och god
4.1 I have been wanting to try this for a while, so finally bit the bullet and paid the price for a single. Employee at my beer retailer recommended it. This has that European feel versus many of the porters that the microbrewers make here in the US. Don't know if I had a baltic porter before this, but I like it. Porters are one of my favorite styles, but some of the imported ones that I tried that are this price are only in the 4-6% range. I hardly noticed the difference in taste and mouthfeel with this one, as far as the alcohol bite....so having a similar flavor with added buzz is a plus. A little richer too, in both body and taste. Dark, black, oil-like appearance....appears to be a hint of red there too. Smell isn't that great though....soy-saucy, but that is usually the case with these dark beers. Lots of chocolate malt and coffee flavor, with just enough hops to offset, but this is mostly a malt bomb. Still debatable if I'd sample again for $3.50, but if they had this in 6-packs for a reasonable price I'd be all over it.
4.2 From the stubby 33 cl bottle with no date that I can see. Jet black pour with an awesome, frothy beige or tan head that lingers. Lovely aroma of sweet dark roasted malts, toffee, biscuit malts, vague licorice and an earthy or floral hop profile. The body is medium to full and just spectacular for the style. The taste is sweet but not overpoweringly so, malty, roasted, and a low earthy hop finale. One of the better traditional Porters I have had for some time.
3.7 Bottle. Black body with tan head. Aroma is caramel roasted malts dried fruits. Taste is is roasted malts cocoa plums hints of alcohol. Aftertaste is roasted malts bitterrness balanced by some malty sweetness.
3.6 Bottle@Klubi, Tampere, Finland. Strong, bit edgy nuances of light licorice and some dark fruits like fig and a hint of plum. Averagely balanced with medium/short aftertaste with slightly roasted malts. Medium body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, sturdy but blunt. 7 4 7 3 15
3.9 Bottle thanks to wombat23. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is strongly of overripe plum with light chocolate undertones. Taste is sweet, a bit tangy, with lots of plum, raisin, and red grape juice mixed with smoke and chocolate. Body is medium. Overall the combination just borders on sickly but it somehow works. Would not want too much of this but as a dessert beer it’s just fine. Good stuff.
3.8 Pours black with foamy head that lingers with lacing. Aroma is coffee, hops and smoke. Taste is chocolate and roast, with a smooth, creamy finish. A very good baltic porter.
3.9 Bottle - 330ml. Pours an opaque black body with an average, lasting, beige creamy head. Robust, complex malty aroma with hoppy, earthy, tobacco, woody, plummy, and roasty hints. Its rich malty taste carries woody, and liquorice notes. It is not as complex as the aroma. Ends with a long woody/roasty, moderately warming finish. Very good.
2.9 Curious as to how long ago this bottle began its journey to the States--kinda tastes like it might have been brewed during the Reagan administration. I mean, it's not a bad porter, but the malts have a definite aged quality to them, coming off musty and unexpectedly tart, lots of berry and burnt sugar mixing in with the dark-roast-coffee notes. Semisweet chocolate and raisin and licorice make an appearance, and the finish remains appreciably dry and clingy, but the sour notes keep growing as the pint warms. Caramel and slight java on the nose, while the pour comes out black with brown edges and a tan head but no lace. Good feel, but otherwise I'm pretty baffled by the love shown towards this beer.
4.3 Perfect
4.3 From a bottle, pours inky black with a thick dark tan head. Malt and coffee nose, dark fruit and licorice taste. Delicious burnt malt finish.
3.4 33 cl bottle. Scents of coffee and brown bread. Pours dark opaque brown with a thin tan head. No lacing. Sweet tastes of coffee and licorice. Very mild carbonation. Nice tart finish. Solid porter.
4.4 33cl Alko. Dark brown excellent taste rich in taste.
3.5 330ml bottle from a bottleswap with rosenbergh, thanks a lot! Malty and coffee aroma with a bit of red fruit scents. Taste is a bit sweet and fruity with cherry dominance in a coffee thick porter.
3.9 Dark chocolate, most pralines, Ovaltine, toasted dark malts, light coffee, dark roast. Black, medium, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More chocolate, cacao, filter coffee, dark roasted malts, lightly charred, soft carbonation, full bodied. Nice Baltic Porter, rich and intense, yet well-balanced, happy to see a macro doing one beer right. Bottle at Finnair Premium Lounge, Helsinki.
3.9 Bottle from Beers of the World. Pours black with thick tan head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts.
3.8 Bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, NY. Pours black like used motor oil, completely opaque, huge light brown head that stays long; sparse lacing. Nose is roasted malt and chocolate with yeast and nut notes; a hint of ash. Taste is quite well balanced with sweet maltiness and nice dark chocolate bitterness. Medium bodied brew with a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent porter.
3.7 Black beer with thick brown head stays. Aroma is firstly chocolate, then comes fruits, bread and little hops. Taste is balanced with medium sweet and bitter. Nice mild hoppy finish. Medium body. Nice and pleasure to drink this one.
3.8 Originally rated on 1/14/2009. Black body with a thick dark tan cap that left plenty of lace. Aromas and flavors of licorice, dark fruit, toasted malts and a little coffee. I deducted a little because there was a very slight metallic presence. Overall it was a pretty good porter, that i wouldnt mind trying again
3.9 Botella for @VastActiv, Euro Trade 04/05/17. Color negro opaco corona de espuma beige, aromas intensos a avena, seguidos de notas tostadas con un fondo dulce, el sabor es tostado con buenas notas a regaliz, sabor agradable cuerpo sedoso
4.9 This is the standard for a porter: it’s sturdy black colour, the smell of roasted malt and the rich mouth filling taste of chocolate, a hint of coffee and the roasted malt... simply put, this is the best porter, if not beer, in the world that all other porters are (or should be!) compared to.
