Singlecut 18-Watt

Singlecut 18-Watt

THE REDEFINITION OF THE SESSION IPA. Orange zest, pine resin and tropical lupulin beauty that easily rivals much bigger IPAs, with a substantially full, soft malt body that compliments but doesn’t interfere with the hop attack. When you want the push, weight, and attack of a much heavier (I)IPA but need to be productive tomorrow – One of our proudest accomplishments.

3.7 Can (4/27/20) pour. Appearance is opaque, beautiful yellow-orange orange juice until the last 10th of the pour with some nasty yeasty sludge. Fair sparkle both stuck to the side of the glass as bubbles and also rising to the top. 2-finger width foamy white head with poor retention and light leggy lacing. Aroma is strong, sweet stone and tropical fruit/citrus with mild tart fruit contribution. Taste is moderately strong stone fruit and tropical over citrus. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, smooth texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a bit thin but what do you expect from a session. If wanting a relatively low ABV with a pretty good amount of juicy goodness, this fits the bill nicely. I wish flavor intensity had matched the aroma. But, this is right at the far edge of freshness so this might have been even better when fresh. Had fresher version on tap 4/2/22 and was strong lemon in aroma and taste. Not complex but good heft.
3.5 Can. Hazy amber beer with a cream head. Tropical fruit and citrus aroma. Tropical fruit and grapefruit flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Tropical fruit and grapefruit linger.
3.7 Draft. Poured cloudy amber color with an average frothy white head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy juicy sweet flavor with a moderate to heavy sweet finish of medium to long duration. This beer met my expectations.

1.9 From a 2 week old $3 crowler from JRs. Almost muddy hazy pale. Big foaming head. Smells like pine. Lots of big penetrating flavors, over the top. Its like a quick burst of wind against the outside walls of your house. You here it but want to ignore it. So big, so juicy. There is a little of that session veggie thing going on but at least its not your your skunk cabbage face like so many others. I find there is some cutting sizzling co2 hidden down under if you seek it - surprising for a ubiquitous mega millions of them style. I poured some more into my glass, it makes for a very nice muddy foaming & rolling presentation. Not one for IPA but this happy hoppy stuff is terribly on style. Should be styled as a muddy NE IPA, its not really much session here.
4.0 From tap. Hazy golden orange color with white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, grass, citrus, light tropical. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

3.5 Draught at The Rake, Borough Market, London. Cloudy gold with white head. This proved to be a hop forward beer from the start, resinous notes along with citrus, grapefruit flavours and grassy notes. Decent beer.
3.8 Nice Melon tropical hop aroma and flavor with some bitter piney yeasty flavors in the finish that mostly balance well. Light body and easy drinking but flavorful.
3.5 Can shared with Beerhunter111. Highly carbonated. Floral fresh beginning. Nice intense bittered, very dry with a nice intense floralness. Grainy floral in the end with a dry earthy bitterness.
3.5 440ml can at Kill the Can, Brick Lane. Cloudy orange. Big hop aroma with lots of grapefruit and passionfruit notes. Crisp and with toffee notes in the flavour.
3.5 Can from Bottles in Providence. Cloudy gold-orage with an inch of white fizzy head that fades moderate fast to a patchy, fun surface. Aroma is green pine and guava, touch of dank weed, some orange and floral notes, touch of dry grain, maybe pear? Body is light, watery and a bit starchy and oily, moderately intense carbonation, medium-coarse, medium burn. Flavor is some dank cannabis up front followed by a bigger bitter/spicy grass with a touch of orange and some lightly sweet grain. Mildy but notably bitter finish (kind of a spicy bitterness) - which is more than many of these cloudy IPAs of slightly higher abv seem to have. It's good and notably light, indeed a session IPA!
3.8 16 oz can. Pours muddy yellow with long lasting foamy white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops, bredy malt and tangerine. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Long dry finish. Good brew.
3.6 Draft at Jasper’s Taphouse & Kitchen in Hell’s Kitchen. Murky yellow with white head. Dank and citrus, some tropical fruit notes.
4.0 Draft pour with a hazy burnt gold color. Aroma of peach and orange. Lots of juicy orange, peach and pineapple notes upfront but the best part is the lighter body to this. Resiny finish.

2.7 Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is cloudy/murky medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), moderately hoppy (melon, orange), with a light note of onion. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Ok fruity nose but rather sour in the mouth with a slightly dirty aftertaste. Not bad, about average for muddy IPAs / pale ales.

3.9 Pours a hazy, dark golden amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus fruit, as well as a hint of peach and tropical aromas. Taste is a great balance of biscuity, very slightly caramelly malt and bright, hoppy citrus, tropical and orchard fruit notes of grapefruit, orange zest, mango and peach, with just a hint of herbal bitterness and pine coming through in the aftertaste. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some orange zest and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation. This is probably the best Session IPA I've ever had, although I'm not sure if you can really still call it a "Session" IPA at 5%. Still, this is pretty impressive for the ABV, with a very different flavor profile than I'm used to from other Session IPAs. It's just a tad watery, but really only slightly so.
3.0 Fruchtiger, herb hopfiger Antrunk. Leicht erhöhte Karbonisierung, frisch, rund. Trocken herber Abgang, hell getreidig. Mittellanger Abgang. Gut. 10/9/10/10/9/9

3.4 16 oz can. (Kultainen Apina) Hervanta, Finland. Murky reddish copper color with a medium size frothy off-white head. Sweet juicy fruity hoppy aroma with toffee sweetness. The flavor is grapefruity and resinous hoppy with messy fruitiness, bitterness and dryness. A bit messy hop profile to be enjoyable. Drinkable nevertheless. A brewery tick.
