Siren Half Mast QIPA (2013-2020)

Siren Half Mast QIPA (2013-2020)

NOTE - THIS BEER IS RETIRED ! If you are drinking from a can or on tap it's likely it's the 2020 version you want. Bottle ... then this is probably your beer !

Cask, Keg & Bottled; originally from June to August 2013 then became a regular.

Note: Although the bottle is labelled 2.7%, it’s actually 2.8%, same as ther draught.

The goal was to create a beer with flavour, balance and body at only 2.8%, a Quarter IPA, QIPA if you will. Heavily hopped but with low bitterness this beer pops with notes of mango and grapefruit and is the perfect summer beer.

3.9 Bottle from Marks and Spencer. Packs a flavour punch given the very low ABV. Some tropical fruit - mango and mandarin - with enough sweetness to balance out the dry bitterness.
3.4 Pours with a small white head. Citrus on the nose with some pine. Taste is very much in the same vein; robust for such a low ABV. Good.
3.9 From a beer hawk mystery case. Only 2.8% but great fresh hop aroma. Pours golden , with a thin head. Taste is clean , fresh , quaffable and mouthful of fresh hops. Bottle conditioned. Lovely.
3.6 Cask at White Hart, Chobham. Floral citrus aroma. Sweet grapefruit. Medium amber. Thin off-white head. Sweet and sour before a medium bitterness kicks in. Grapefruit. Peaches. Iced tea. Light bodied but slick. Soft carbonation. Long finish. Surprisingly fruity and punchy for such a low ABV. Two thumbs up.
3.1 Bottled: clear golden appearance with lively carbonation and head. Lovely hoppy aroma - citrus and grass. Strong and bitter IPA taste that is surprising full given the low ABV. Possibly a little too bitter for me but an effective beer for its strength . Would like to try a draft version
3.4 Bottle 330 ml from Marks & Spencers. Aromas of tropical fruit and grass. Very big and fluffy white head and clear golden body. Taste of refreshing malts with a sharp, hoppy citrus/grapefruit finish. Quite low bitterness considering that this beer is heavily hopped.

3.5 Bottle. Lightly hazed yellow gold colour. Good foamy white head. Good lacing. Very Fruity; tangy citrus grapefruit and lemon, peel, tropical fruits, mango. Good hop bitterness, citrus and grassy hops. Pale malts. Moderately bitter citrus fruity hoppy throughout. Quite dry. Lingering bitter finish. Good depth of flavour for low ABV. Decent. (2017-04)
2.9 Aromas frutales y tropicales. Buen aspecto, buena retencion de espuma. En boca frutal y citrica, no demasiado amarga. Final seco
3.5 Bottle sampled thnx to david. Pours clear blonde, small white head. Smell is bit bitter. Taste is mildly bitter, some hoparoma. Not bad.
3.6 33cl bottle shared at home. Somewhat pale orange with a medium white soapy head. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite some hoppy bitterness with subtle fruity sweetness. Citrus, pine, tangerine, caramel and malts. Very good low alcoholic IPA.
2.8 A very low ABV IPA is a fantastic idea. However, it was over carbonated and it left me feeling gassy. There was a nice short flavour from the hops, but this morphed into a sharp flavour as the taste developed in the mouth and as I drank more from the glass. Not for me.
3.7 Leicht trübes Orange mit durchschnittlicher Schaumkrone. Fruchtig, Zitrusfrüchte, Grapefruit, etwas Mango, leicht harzig, spritzig.
3.1 Aroma: Floral hops with dusty notes. Flavour: Strong dry bitterness with fruity sourness and a very dry aftertaste. Colour: light amber with a grainy white head.
3.5 Bottle at The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a slightly hazy deep golden colour with a frothy white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, some peach, a little mango, slight toasted malts and subtle peppery, herbal hops. Taste of orange, grapefruit, some peach, subtle toasted malts and slight herbal hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, crisp, citrus hop bitterness in the finish. A light, zesty session IPA perfect for the summer. It’s thin as expected but so crisp. Decent.
Etwas astringierend.
3.7 33cl bottle. Appearance: A Slightly hazy orange, with a full sized white head, with more then decent retention. Head leaves some lacing. Aroma: malts and citrus and grassy hops. Taste malts, hops, light to moderately bitter, citrus, mango, grass and pale malts, quite tasty for it’s ABV, only a hint of watery splash in the bitter finish. Thin body slightly to watery, medium carbonation. Great for what it is, good session IPA, and perfect summer beer, with more then enough taste.
3.2 Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours hazy golden with white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, pine needles. Tastes slightly bitter. Thin bodied, overcarbonated, bitter finish.
3.5 330 ml bottle, as Siren Half Mast, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 2.8%. Pale golden colour, large white head. Lovely hoppy aroma of spruce tips, pine needles, tropical fruits and citrus. Light bodied as expected, but has plenty of flavour. The hoppy flavour is quite dry, with distinct piney notes, also citrus (esp. grapefruit) and some tropical fruits. Very bitter aftertaste.
3.6 330ml bottle. Slightly hazy golden pour with a frothy head. Aroma: citrus and tropical fruits, mango, grapefruit. Taste: fruity, tropical, tart zesty citrus, herbal, dry bitter finish. Light body, lively carbonation, bubbly on the palate.
3.9 Draft at Euston Tap. Hazy pale goldenwith crramy head.. sharp tart aroma and taste. Big bold taste for a small beer. Light in body and ABV, but huge flavor.
3.8 Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi), as "Half Mast". Nose of citrus zest, mango, pale malt. Bright gold straw color, with a massive cone of white foam. Gentle sweet initial, oranges, peaches, a bit minerally in mid palate, some peppery bitterness, and a mild bitter finish. Thin body. Top-notch, full-flavored, session beer.
3.7 on tap at Beer Geek. Hazy golden color with medium quickly disappearing head. Aroma: grapefruit, orange, zesty. Taste: citrus, light resins, orange juice. Light body, soft carbonation. Moderate bitterness with loads of fruitiness. Quit full in taste for such low ABV.
2.7 Grape fruit and tropical fruits but also a strange smell resembling sulphour but maybe just yuzu or an other bitter citrus fruit. Not foul at all in the taste but as expected thin and almost watery. A beer should be more full-bodied but a fun experience
3.6 Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Blonde clair. Nez ananas puissant. Palais light, fine bulle, arômes d’agrumes et d’ananas. Bel équilibre. Facile à boire.
3.3 Bottle, pours clear dark gold with a white head. Pretty hoppy aroma with pine, citrus and some tropical fruit. Watery, as can be expected, somewhat harsh. Enjoyable as a low abv beer.
