Siren Shattered Dream

Siren Shattered Dream

Shattered Dream is an Imperial nod to our flagship Breakfast Stout. Brewed to celebrate our 100th batch and packed full of coffee, vanilla and cacao this stout does not do things by half measure.

3.9 drunk in bottle; black color and coffee smell. you can also taste. chocolate and licorice. good beer:)
3.8 330ml bottle at home. BB 06/2015? -> bought this only recently. black color, quite small coffee colored head. smells of ash, cocoa, malty roast, light bitter chocolate, some earthy notes. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of ash / charcoal, malty roast, some sweetness, very subtle vanilla notes, lightly sour, some bitter chocolate, some spices, licorice. finishes with vanilla, spices, and some roast notes. good beer. Usually I dont like vanilla imp stouts, but this one is quite subtle, still, some things could be better, I think the different tastes dont blend so well together for me. Overall body feels rather light.
4.0 Bottle (from beergium.com). Pours black with light brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roast. Flavor is sweet, dark chocolate, malt, roast, vanilla. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: great brew.
3.0 Black, brown head. Cacao not so present, vanilla just a remind. More coffee. Okay imperial stout, but expected something more extreme. Body also a bit light.
4.0 330 ml bottle from Saveur Bière. Black body, with a small, creamy, coffee colored head. Aroma of coffee, wood, cocoa, dark chocolate, liquorice, some dark fruits. Tastes of cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, liquorice, molasses. Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation. Finishes smooth, with coffee, cocoa, wood, some liquorice. Tasty. Very smooth to drink, the ABV is completely hidden. Lovely coffee notes, with the cocoa and vanilla well integrated. I would prefer a bit more complexity though, but overall still a very enjoyable Stout.
3.8 330ml bottle @martjoobolut’s, thanks. Very dark brown color. Small size, brown head, stays. Coffee, roast, sweet, chocolate, milky aroma. Sweetish, roast, milky, chocolate, oats, cocoa in taste. Mellow oats and roast in aftertaste. Very mellow roasty bitterness. Fantastic! 10% abv? Never would I say that! Give me more!
3.8 Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.
3.6 330ml bottle - thanks martjoobolut! First sniff was ashtray, then some coffee. Black, small brief head. Nice sweet barley roast. Not overpowered by adjuncts, there’s a good beer at the core of this. A very good beer. Massively drinkable, no sign of 10%. So mellow, great roast but no astringency at all. 3.6 seems like an underrate.
3.5 Black beer, small tan head. Nose is coffee and chocolate, ashy notes, roasty notes and malt. Flavor is hard roasty, malt and chocolate, ash, booze. Finish is dark chocolate, roast, malt, vanilla, warming alcohol. Oily mouthfeel.
4.0 Smell of coffee, vanilla, tar. Black with dark brown colour. Aroma of licorice, coffee, tar. Finishes with vanilla. Also some smoke and ash to be noted. Very soft, plentiful carbon. Oily and velvety texture, heavy body. Bitter, also medium sweet.
4.2 bottle, I really like this beer, if you like strong full flavoured no nonsense stout this is your beer, I just love it, stands up to most of the US style imp stouts IMO which often top ratebeer ratings
4.0 Bottle at home. Black pour, thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, bread, chocolate, licorice and vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet, bitter and thick bodied. Solid brew, well balanced and full of flavors. Great.
3.9 Schwarz.
Stor kropp, silkeslen, bra balans, lätt beska. Riktigt gott.
3.8 Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks troubles. Black with a light brown head. Nice aroma of cocoa, roast, a bit of vanilla and a light boozy note. Roasty flavor with chocolate, some coffee, a bit of smokiness and a vanilla note. Quite full-bodied.
4.1 Ultimate deep brown beer; thick cream-brown head. End of bottle vicious looking UFO’s. Coffee, ashes, cigar, (over)roasted meat, black chocolate, heated rust. Sweet-roasted. Heat as from chili (if restrained). Black chocolate/cocoa. Despite the power, very good balance! Sweet flavour as from smoked paprika’s. Coffee roasting machine and exotic spices (especially warming up). Obviously very slick, viscous, heavily bodied, rich, warming. Excellent Imperial Stout. Though I certainly wouldn’t want it for breakfast...
4.2 Pitch black color, big brown head. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, coffee pancetta, vanilla. Taste is full of cocoa, chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Cocoa feel stays long after. Medium to full body, very soft carbonation. Alcohol is nowhere to be found. Excellent stuff. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
4.0 Bottle @ home form Deconinck, Vichte - BE. Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: roasted malt notes. Vanilla, coffee and small dark chocolate finish. Taste: good density and palate. Sweet and good malt complexity. Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Vanilla and bourbon finish. Aftertaste: caramel, coffee and roasted malt.
4.3 Bottle 0,33l bought at Hoppiness (Koper). Dark thick oily liquid with soft tan foam. Wooden lightly smoked aroma and cocoa. Full body, light carbonation. Rich and tasty. Not too sweet for 9,8% of alcohol. Cocoa and some vanilla in taste, long cocoa finish till tommorrow. Very good one.
4.2 Bottle from Bottle Apostle, Clapham. colour is opaque very dark brown to black as I pour it into the glass. There’s a brown foam head. Nose is rich silky syrupy dark chocolate, which dominates, then vanilla, coffee, roasted malt grain. Taste is smooth sweet, rich dark chocolate. When I was a kid there used to be this syrupy chocolate spread you could buy. It was delicious and there’s some of that in this. Vanilla, light black coffee and burnt roasted malt. At last a bottled imperial stout which doesn’t have that dead yeast, Marmite flavour. This is how I like them. Smooth rich, chocolatey and sweet. Not cloying though as the dry roasted bitter malts balance it out. On the finish there’s some burnt, roasted malt.
3.6 from Erzbierschof - black beer under a long lasting and creamy dark beige foam; roasted aroma of coffee, ashes and cacao; full-bodied, rounded, light grainy and with some sweetness; the vanilla appears at last to dominate the finish, lingering notes of cacao
3.9 14.2.2015. Imperial breakfast stout with vanilla & cacao nibs. Black beer with brown head. Intense roasted aroma with cacao, coffee and a hint of vanilla, at least when you know its there. Oily texture. Taste is medium sweet, roasted, soft, coffee and dryish cacao finish. Quite simple but tasty.
3.7 Bottle. Black, quick tan head. Salty licorice, ashy malty, slight milky, nose. Intensive, and clean. Swirrling reveals herby green citric, almost peppery, hops. Full bodied. Soft smooth texture, no signs of the high abv, just fluffy creamy roast malty goodness. Finding some dry chocolate now, soft ash, roast malts. Doesn’t come by as very aggressive though, rather mellow, soft, easy. Freeze-dried coffee in the finish. A smooth, dangerously easy impy.
4.2 bottle at home. Pours black with a small 1-finger head. Nicely roasted aromas, cold coffee, green paprica, subtle vanilla and dark chocolate. Thick body, nice smooth bitterness, roastiness and sweetnes, perfect carbonation. Taste is dark coffee roast and dark chocolate. This beer is quite perfect!
3.4 Bottle, ABV 9.8%. Pours black with a wooden tinge, small, mocha-colored head. Aroma is roast and tobacco. Taste is roast, tobacco, coffee. Lightly sweet, light chocolate, some vanilla, some cocoa later on. Good balance, superb drinkability. Full, but not too much, medium carbonation.
4.1 27/I/15 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 30/VI/15 (2015-118) Thanks to JefVerstraete for sharing the bottle! Clear dark brown to black beer, creamy beige irregular head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit fruity, mocha, coffee grit, lots of cocoa powder, charcoal. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very roasted, bit sourish, citrus, lactose sweetness, caramel, coffee. Aftertaste: dark chocolate, roasted, coffee, some molasses, bit hoppy.
4.0 330ml bottle [9.8% abv]. Jet black colour with average, late awakening, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, ochre-ish chocolate head. Roasty dark malty, coffee aroma, notes of mocha, mocha ice cream, dark chocolate. Taste is chocolately dark malty, more than subtle sweetness, notes of cocoa, mocha, dark chocolate, caramelized coffee beans; perfectly hidden alcohol. Not light bodied in strictest sense, but flattering, dangerously easy drinkable. Focused, simple, clear and clean.
3.8 Bottle 33cl. Near black with a beige head. Aromas are coffee and creamy oak barrel with vanilla. Medium to low body with little to no carbonation. Flavours are coffee and dark chocolate with funky berry notes. Caramel with lactose and vanilla milkshake. Aftertaste is milk chocolat and sweet, does not stay long. Not enough body for an imperial stout imo.
3.9 A black beer with an almost medium, dense and light brown head. Aroma is rich, coffee and roastiness, sweetness of chocolate, some vanilla. Taste has coffee, quite strong sweetness, some roastiness, hint of vanilla. Overally, the taste is quite simple but otherwise, balanced and enjoyable. Almost full bodied, smooht, pleasant in the mouth. Quite sweet. Very good beer but for my preferences the final touch is missing.
3.8 Very dark body, brown thick head, amazing looks. Loads of chocolate, toast, tar, spruce and more chocolate. Taste is great too, but not as complex or rich as the aroma. special beer, very modern and Flavourful. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière, shared with Darren)
