Siren Yu Lu

Keg, Cask, & Bottle: Unfiltered
Launched March 2017

Yu Lu is an intricate beer with layers of flavour that remain distinctive, yet work in perfect harmony. Her name alludes to the mystical history of the humble tea leaf, which delivers subtle bergamot orange and lemon notes here, accentuated by the addition of lemon zest. Her delicate hop high notes will leave your taste buds sparkling.

The newest member of our core range, Yu Lu offers balanced flavour that belies its low strength. Perfect, refreshing drinking for any occasion.

3.7 Slight hazy straw coloured pour. Aroma of tart lemon and pineapple. Flavour is more dank and grassy than the fruit aroma would suggest hints of grapefruit from the hops comes through as well as a good bit of bitterness. Carbonated mouthfeel. A lot of sediment present as well which seem to be causing a flavour more in line with the aroma. Surprisingly complex beer for a session ale.
3.6 Can. Slightly hazy pale yellow with white head. The aroma has notes of citrus, grapefruit, some tropical fruits, grassy. The flavor is mild bitter with notes of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruits, "green", herbs. Dry, light to medium-bodied.
3.8 Pours slightly murky light yellow with a thick creamy white head, strong lemon aroma with hint of erl gray, very dry, notes of grain, strong herbal taste
3.6 I am not a big fan of that tea aftertaste but this is very drinkable beer. Suddenly I want a summer.
3.8 The green one was really nice, just didn’t have that unique groggy independent ale taste that most have, just felt like a normal beer
3.3 Not bursting with flavour but decent enough dry happy session with some floral and stone fruit flavours
3.9 330ml can bought at Wellcome Superstore in Sheung Shui Town Centre, Sheung Shui. Looks: Translucent dull light golden colour with a cloud of misty yeast particles; Less than one-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with near zero carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with strong Earl Grey tea, apricot, lemon zest, melon, light peach, yellow fruits, floral, sugar, spices, pine, biscuits and fair grass. Taste: Close to light sweet fair Ale malt, with fair wheaty tartness, tea, strong grapefruits, floral, very light sugar, biscuits, strong lemon, herbs, pine, strong bitter hops and strong grass. Body: Light body; Quite slick palate. Mouth Feel: Good Ale maltyness in a wheat-thinned but slick background. Strong tea leaves dominate with bitter grapefruits. Flowery with very low sweetness. Biscuity, with strong herbal, pine and lemon to round. Nice! Hoppiness: Apricot, lemon zest, melon, light peach, yellow fruits, floral, spices, pine, and fair grass in nose. Strong grapefruits, floral, strong lemon, herbs, pine and strong grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, high-level bitter Ale malty finish. After taste: Quite dry. Strong herbal grapefruity and bitter to mouth. Comments: This one has all the bases well covered, with equally strong aroma of Earl Grey and fruity hops, plus equally strong grapefruit and herbal piney taste. Billed as a light Pale Ale yet the body is pretty rich and fulfilling, this one is an excellent beer for chillout. Will buy again!
3.6 Can. Lemon citrus, bitter herbal hops. Maybe a bit light/watery in the mouthfeel, but I suppose it is a session IPA after all. Solid work.
3.4 Can at home. It’s nice. Quite refreshing. Lemony. Subtle tea. Solid session beer and it does taste stronger
2.3 I love a Siren ale but this is a bit odd. Faintly herbal notes from the tea with a lemony zestiness that don't really add anything to this IPA. Not a fan of flavoured beers generally and this did not persuade me otherwise.
2.2 Meh. Supposed to have lemon and Earl gray and it almost does. Nothing special
3.3 330 ml can, from Être Gourmet, Belgium. ABV is 3.6%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of citrus, tea and dust. The flavour is better, citric with notes of lemon zest and bergamot, hints of tea. Moderate to low bitterness. Refreshing.
3.6 Can from Honest Brew. Small white head with good retention. Aroma is floral, zesty, light malts. Taste is fragrant tea, lemon zest, moderately bitter. Decent body for the ABV. Nice
3.2 33cl can from beer52. Thin white head. Hazy golden pour. Light bitterness.
3.0 0,33l can at home bought from Etre Gourmet. Canned 20.04.2020. BB 20.04.2021. yellow hazy color, small white head. smells earthy, peppery, spices, bit malty peppery, bit dank. ok smell. light body, soft carbonation. tastes earthy, peppery, light cabbage, bit herbal, spices, citric, lychee, very light grapefruit. finishes light to medium bitter with notes of earth, spices and pepper. okish, not the most exciting beer.
3.0 session pale ale legalábbis ez van ráírva aszongyák earl grey-jel főzték, nekem inkább olyan spenótos vót
3.6 Belle robe blonde limpide, fine mousse blanche. Nez citron vert, citron, fruit de passio, pamplemousse. Bouche sur les mêmes saveurs, mais moins d'intensité que pour le nez. Corps léger, longueur moyenne. Bière de soif bien houblonnée, agréable et rafraichissante.
2.2 330ml can from Beer52. Odd that I hadn’t rated this before. Hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of leafy hops, distant unripe stone fruit and barley sugar. Quite crisp. There’s some fruity and slight earthy flavours. It’s fine for what it is; a supermarket SIPA sold cheap... but it is that nonetheless.
3.3 Malty, citrusy and spicy, clear golden, very spicy taste, coriander, grass, tchai, herbal, thin, smooth.
3.6 Pale lemon gold, thin white head. Aroma of orange and lemons. Light body, bitter finish. Subtle taste, orange peel, lemon, tea like notes. Good
3.3 Tasty for strength.,lemon. Hazy looks with lacing head. Quite a wee surprise from beerhawk advent
3.4 Aromas- Sweet hoppy notes of oranges and lemons with hints of marmalade and light bread. Appearance- Lightly cloudy golden colour with small white foam. Palate- Light body with thin slick texture leaving a light bitter finish. Taste- Light bitter herbal and orange peal notes with tad of dark tea with lemons. Overall- Nice very light session beer.
3.9 Can at home Appearance - small foamy white head, leaves significant lacing. Aroma - a little soapy, a touch of sorachi-ace-esque something going on. Some resin. PLeasant. Taste - Slighty soapy medium bitterness, similar to aroma. Body - Rounded, with a fairly astringent long fniish Overall - pretty good, didn't realise it was bergamot till I saw the description, but in retrospect it's there - probably what I was attributing to sorachi. Good.
3.6 Can from beerhawk. Golden orange liquid with a thin head. Lovely aroma of hops and grapefruit. Fruity grapefruit taste with hops and hops. Very quaffable.
3.5 Appearance is golden, with a 2-finger foamy white head. Aroma- citrus fruit, bergamot, pithy fruit, lemon, grassy hops. Taste- bergamot, grassy hops, lemon meringue, zesty fruit, bitter hops. Nice and delicate.
4.1 Siren Yu Lu 3.6%. Cloudy pale yellow, citrus and tropical fruit aroma, medium bodied, pale malt, citrusy, Earl Grey tea, lemon zesty finish. Pleasant Pale Ale from Finchampstead, Berkshire 🇬🇧
2.4 Nov 2019. 330ml dark bottle, unfiltered with some soft residue, from BeerWulf for under £2. Meh. It's soft and drinkable, but it's not the best. It's a little thin and dry. But its not offensive.
3.4 Ascot 2019. Pours a hazy orange colour with a tight white head, the aroma has hints of citrus fruits, the taste is medium bitterness and fruity with a dry bitter finish.
