Sixpoint Puff

Sixpoint Puff

Imagine puffing away on hops for days, then just chillin’ as the party starts winding down.
But wait, a final burst of energy; one last dose in a tank of dry hops. A special hop bouquet for the afterparty.
If you love Resin, try tasting it straight from the tanks. That’s PUFF - a hazy, unfiltered pour with an extra dose of dry hops... a new blend devised just for Puff.

We decided to capture our own puffy, cloudy brew in a limited release can. First puff says it all - this ish is Keller. Breathe deep and put your head in the clouds... it’s Mad Science.

This cloudy, unfiltered brew is meant to be drank super fresh. Don’t wait to Puff - this beer is code dated for consumption within 100 days. Puff, puff...

3.8 [Can (12oz)] Pours a cloudy golden-amber with a large long-lasting frothy white head. Some lacing. Aroma is fruity and hoppy, a bit sweet and resiny, and with caramel malt in the back. Flavour is sweet, fruity and hoppy along with a nice bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Really good.
4.4 12 oz. can. Pours a cloudy gold color with a quick white head that settles to a film. Aroma is mostly citrus - mango & tropical stone fruit. Medium body. Flavor is a great balance of citrus hops and malt although it does lean towards the hops for being an imperial IPA. Finish is bitter, dry, citrusy and a touch of warming alcohol. Well done!
3.8 Tap. Golden color. Dried orange and mango in the aroma. Well hopped. Malty yet dry, perfumed flavor. Mano, citrus. Grassy finish with tea leaves. Nice.
3.7 Decent sized off white head of varying sized bubbles. Good head retention. Fruity hops aroma with some pears, pineapple, sweet malts, light grains and spices. Color is a medium brownish orange. Flavor has a good helping of dry hops. Light fruit and pine, dried grains, a touch of caramel and some lemon. Noticeable alcohol presence and warming. Moderate bitterness which is on the dry side. Finishes pretty clean with a lingering dry bitterness. A decent IIPA.
3.9 The aroma is thick humid citrus and damp washcloth. The appearance is a nice golden hazy orange. The taste is a luscious cloud of lemon with bitter cresting waves of hops, and droplets of resiny tangerine. It’s a bit intense and that it is a 9.8ABV is apparent. It also comes in a neat looking can. Good for lonely Sunday Matrix movie marathons w/ an added deathgrind soundtrack.
4.0 Can. Super cloudy orange-amber with a cream colored head. Spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel, citrus, toast, resin, and pine. A little sweet with a nice solid balancing bitterness. Long bitter finish, smooth, heavy-medium bodied. Nice
3.5 Draft at Front Row Pizzeria. Pours golden with a white puffy head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Solid grapefruit on the nose. Fairly dank on the tongue with a lot of hop flavor. Pretty bitter on the finish. Solid example of style.
4.0 Bought in a can from like every bodega ever (I love NYC). Pours copper-gold with moderate haze. White head dissipates quickly with heavy lacing. Lemon peel, pine and hop resin on the nose. Bright and bitter flavor; caramel, grapefruit, tangerine, pine, crackers. Bitter and peppery finish with a lingering pine aftertaste. Crackery malt backbone holds it all together. Thick and chewy texture, oily and smooth. Fine and aggressive carbonation. Barely noticeable booze for such high gravity. A big beer, super solid. I'm all about trendy DDH IPAs these days but Puff reminds me of how much I love Sixpoint.
3.6 piney, resiny aromas. gold and faintly hazy in color with nice long lasting head. taste is hop forward, notes of pine, resin, faint citrus, underlying malt notes for a little balance
3.2 Pours a slightly hazy deep gold color. About an 1/8 white head that never goes away with lots of lacing. Pine aroma. Very hoppy flavor with citrus flavors.
3.9 500ml pint served in a pint glass. From tap at La Mise en Biere - Lausanne. Pours a cloudy orange color forming a small head with medium retention and lots of lacings formed and left in the glass. Nose is sweet and grassy. Strong notes of caramel malts, grapefruit, mango and grassy and pinny hops. Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of caramel malts and tropical fruits. Resin and grass. Notes of pine. A bit boozy. Heavy body. Medium to low carbonation. Caramel, grapefruit and resin in the afteraste. Good double IPA.
4.0 Pours cloudy almost copper. Aroma is very hoppy, fruity, grass. Taste is hoppy, very nice mouthfeel.
3.9 I tap at easy tiger. Pours cloudy straw some head and lacing. Notes of fruity grapefruit five alive some orange. Taste med bitter med juicy sweet. Full almost creamy body lively carbonation.
3.7 Pouring at the 2016 Sierra Nevada Beer Camp in Boston. Pours a hazed amber with a thin white head. Citrus, fruit on the nose. Medium bodied, big bitterness, soft citrus. Soft musk, slow bitterness.
3.8 Cloudy orange pour. Truly cloudy, unlike Stones unfiltered Enjoy By. Aroma is bursting with pine and resin, some citrus. Zero malt, but Im fine with that. Medium bodied, theres a slight alcohol presence/harshness that Im not fond of. Super hoppy of course, overall really good.
3.5 Tap at Cap Ale West. Orangey golden with Nice head and lacing. A little dank with some juice. Flavor follows. Not super hoppy.
3.2 Aroma is slightly fruity and citrusy. Some dankness. Resin. It pours bright orange with a slightly off white head. The taste is resinous with hints of citrus. Mainly grapefruit. Solid malty backbone. Pine in the aftertatse. Subtle oily stickyness from the hops. Medium body. Decent IPA. Some citrus and some pine. And pine I’m not a fan of. But it can be enjoyed slowly.
4.2 I’m pretty new to the craft beer scene. But I do enjoy the east coast hazy, cloudy beers. Sixpoint Puff is pretty damn good. I had to buy 2- 4 packs for myself. I’ve tried other hazys and this is comparable to others I’ve tried at local L.A. Breweries. But again I’m a newborn to the scene.
3.4 Pours a murky orange-golden with a short white head. Grapefruit primarilyand other less discernible citrus in the aromas. Citrus and onion flavors are most prominent. Excessive bitterness at and after the finish. Robust mouthfeel with some oiliness and moderate abrasiveness.
4.0 On tap at A1. Pours a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma is of hops, some pine, slight booze, and a little citrus. Oil slick and bubbly palate. Flavor is of fresh hops, citrus, weeds, and some more citrus. Leaves a nice citrus hop finish. Bravo Sixpoint.
3.5 Can. Pours hazy golden. Hoppy. Orange peel, pine, mandarin. Full bodied. Very dank. Fairly high bitterness.
4.1 Great all around beer. One of the better I have had through a distributor. Good citrus tones with not a heavy back end. Very enjoyable beer.
4.0 Appearance: hazy pale amber with one fat finger of fluffy ivory head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: resiny pine, citrus, melon, caramel, tropical and stone fruit. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, massive bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium oily body, moderate carbonation, off-dry building bitter finish. (4/5) Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talkin’ about. I was really looking forward to this, and it did not disappoint. Dank, deep, and complex, with a massive spicy hop bite. Big caramel sweetness, but appropriately balanced and barely sufficient to stop the huge hops from becoming overwhelming. Puff, puff - but I ain’t passin’. (16/20) 8/10 #ryansbooze ryansbooze.com
3.5 Purchased in Washington DC in May 2017. Drunk in the U.K. In May. Fantastic beer.
3.9 Aromas of pines, resin. assertive hops stonefruit, melon, orange peel, tangerine, apricot, grass, caramel and honey. Pours a bright gold with a very thin white foam and wild lacing. Taste brings fresh bitter hops, bright orange, tangerine, citrus and a tropical fruit twang upfront. Mid palate layers into more grassy, piney, resinous leaf hops alongside a strong golden malt, caramel, honey and cracker base. Finishes assertively bitter and dry with a residual piney quality. Overall, a very solid IIPA. Very bitter and flavorful.
3.2 Draft. Ugly murky golden body with a frothy off-white head. Robust aroma of orange, citrus, resin lemon, pine, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. I am not a big fan of Resin because it is such a resin bomb and that’s not my cup of tea. The dry hopping in Puff masks that with citrus and orange, at least in the beginning. The finish is pure resin and bitter pine just like its fraternal twin. The aroma is inviting, though, even if the muddy appearance isn’t.
3.8 From Whole Foods Tribeca. Aroma is resin, pine, tropical fruit. Appearance is cloudy, amber, thin head. The flavor is resin, pine, tropical fruit. Nice finish of resin, pine. Medium in body. Solid.
3.7 Very resinous, fairly bitter finish. Definitely feels like a double IPA. Dank & piney.
4.1 355ml can at home. Hazy orange with a medium white soapy head. Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation. Great bitterness with nice fruity sweetness. Pine, tropical fruits, citrus, caramel and some malts. Very nice!
