SKA Buster Nut Brown Ale

SKA Buster Nut Brown Ale

This Brown Ale has a touch of nuttiness provided by our good friends Mr. and Mrs. Victory and Munich Malt. The addition of Northern Brewer, Cascade, and Willamette hops smooth this beer out to create an incredibly drinkable Brown Ale.

3.0 12 ounce bottle purchased at Archer Liquors by Midway, Chicago, IL 1/25/15 Not bad.
3.3 Bottle from Sake Taniguchi (World Beer Market). Thin roast malt nose, light prunes, brown sugar, and some tobacco. Brown/amber color. Mild roasty initial, light fruity mid, with raisins and cherries, and small toffee notes. Thin body. Nice nose, indeed. Flavors are all gentle and unexciting (... it is THAT style).
4.2 Pours very dark, medium head. Smooth, rich nut brown ale. Slight coffee/coacoa aftertaste.
3.3 Bottle to pint glass. Not much head. Clear brown. Nutty and coffee nose. Nice hazelnut flavor. Finish is not as smooth as other nut Browns I’ve had. Medium body easy to drink.
2.6 "Bottle-from memory, this one is lacking. Having only had the hoperandi, which is pretty damn good, before this one, I had high hopes. The nuttiness is there as is lightly roasted malts and a little chocolate. All the right pArts, but it just doesn’t come Together as well - a little boring"
2.4 On tap @ Provisions Market. Light brown pour with a small khaki head. Chocolate syrup and club soda on the nose. Yum... Light roast, some coffee grounds, and maybe some toffee. Flavor is basically like a soda. Very watery, though... Carbonic. Some roast, coffee grounds, dirt, and a bit of toffee sweetness. Some walnuts and cocoa powder. Meh.
3.4 Pours a light chestnut brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is of toasted malts, caramel, nutty malts, light coco, and some light hops. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi watery mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium-short finish. Overall, a rather lackluster brown ale from a brewery I expected more from,
3.1 Flight at bottlecraft. Dark amber with a light head. Malty and roasty. Pretty light.
2.4 Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home recovering from frustrating work. Meh, this isn’t very good. Appearance is a syrupy dark brown, relatively clear, not much head. Aroma of chocolate malt and caramel. Taste is more syrupy than anything, moderate carbonation, like a light chocolate soda, it’s just not very good.
2.1 malty but thin, nice color and easy to drink. better colder than when warm. almost a brown lager IMO.
3.2 Bottle. Pours red brown with quickly settling tan head, almost no lace. Aroma is toasted, nutty, toffee/caramel malt, sweet. Flavor is mild malt, toasted, toffee, with a sweet fruity finish, nutty malt aftertaste. Aroma is mild on malt, flavor is even milder. Soft carbonation, light body. Mild.
2.3 Cracked this rude boy open out of a standard 12 oz bottle. Pours out a dark copper brown. Very slight sweet malt aroma on this one. The taste is standard for a nut brown. A lot of malt right away with a little hops to finish it. But really not a great finish with this beer. Once you swallow it the taste is gone. That’s it. It doesn’t linger leaving you wanting more. Very light and not much to it. If you love Browns, you could slam a bunch of these jokers. But that would be all they’d be good for. Slamming. Not a great beer. I’ll be skanking away from this one in the future. IMO son.
3.0 From a bottle. The pour is brown in color with a slight brown frothy head.As well has a medium body with a chocolate tootise pop flavor.
1.6 Bottle, Chester Beer & Wine. Dark brown pour. What aroma? Oh dear rank metallic taste. Drain pour. A waste of time importing dross like this. Buster Bloodvessel is much fatter than that as well.
1.9 Pours a boring brown with absolutely no head. aroma is nutty and not much else. taste is malty, but watery, with kind of a weird sour fruity aftertaste.
1.9 Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Smells chocolatey, roasty. Tastes watery, malty, slight roasty. Really boring and watery.
2.0 Bottle poured a clear brown hue w/ small quickly and fully diminishing head. Subtle sweet malty aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light acidic finish. Tastes are chocolate, tannins, bread, and lightly roasted malt. Light to medium bodied, dry texture, soft carbonation.
2.9 bottle. Brown with small head. Pretty generic brown ale with light nuttiness. Pleasant flavor, but nothing really distinctive.
3.3 Draft at Coasters in Elizabeth City, NC The ale poured a deep brown color with a small head but lacing down the glass. The aroma was of toasted malts with a hint of sweetness. The texture was smooth with average carbonation,. There was a metalic or iron taste to the ale. The finish had some nutty sweetness.
3.5 Maybe it's just because I tweaked my back and this is acting as "medicine", but I think I like this more than any brown I've had in a long time. Great caramel flavor without being too sweet.
3.1 Good overall brown. Caramel malt, some chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel. Full body.
3.3 25th August 2012 Clear dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth dry palate with fine carbonation. Lactose dry malt, little cream. Slightly tangy fruits and a trace of coffee and indeed some nuts! Smooth dry finish. Not bad.
2.8 Medium to dark brown pour with a 1 finger, creamy, off white head that has decent retention and leaves decent lacing. Nutty, herbal, pine and light citrus aroma. Flavor is oily nutty sweetness up front, earthy wood, cereal, dark caramel, spice and hints of pine and herbal hops and roast to the finish. Medium body, with a sticky, but slick feel and light carbonation. Not bad, but it’s a little boozy (especially for 5.15%ABV and bland other than a vague nuttiness, I really had to search for other tasting notes. Still, I could knock back a couple without complaining.
2.9 12 oz bottle that was part of the Winter 2012 World Market 9 pack, courtesy of my in-laws. "Bottled on" is unmarked / un-notched on the label. The pour is mostly dark brown with some copper highlights. The 1/2 inch light tan head falls quickly. The aroma is nutty malt, a bit of maple sweet and then a somewhat dirty earthiness. The taste is is the syrup sweet malt up front, then the nuttiness, than the earthiness that shows a hint of roast as well as the dirt. The after taste goes back to caramel maple sweet. The palate is medium to light bodied, below average carbonation and the sweet finish. Not terrible, though I prefer a less sweet brown ale.
3.4 Mørk Kobber klar skum lidt Nødder malt bær lidt citrus Bitter lidt sød moderat Blød Cremet @rake
3.1 12 oz bottle pours reddish-brown and pretty clear. Small light tan head with light patchy lacing. Aroma and flavor are roasted and toasted malts, chocolate, earthy hops, nuts and spices. Nice balance, sweet with just enough bitterness. Medium body, smooth feel and pleasing carbonation. Not bad for a brown ale.
2.9 355ml bottle from Cotteridge Wines.Reddish brown pour with quickly fading small off white head.Malt aroma with caramel and a little fruit.Roast malt flavour with caramel and a little nuttiness.
2.9 Poured from draft at the cheeky monk. Big brown color with brown head. Drfinayely a nutty aroma. Great smell. Watered down brown ale. Average
3.4 Botella. Deep golden -orange colour. Aroma: Fruity sweet caramel malty nytty. Good mouthfeel. sweet fruity caramel toasty malty nutty flavour.
2.8 Pours a very dark brown with a fast diminished head and thin lacing. Scents of some robust malts and nutty hints. Drinks rather lightly for being a dark beer. Rather mild roasted malts taste with an awkward nutty finish. The way you expect this beer to taste and the way it actually tastes are two different things. Not completely horrible but definitely needs some work on its taste and texture.
