3.3 From bottle. Almost Black with a brown head. Fruit and liqourice in the aroma. Sweet liqourice taste. Thick mouthfeel. Different but good
3.1 Bottle, 50 cl. Clear dark brown body with a short beige head that quickly dissipates. Aroma has notes of roasted malt and caramel. Medium sweet taste with medium bitterness. Fruity. Medium body with average carbonation. Bittersweet finish. This is a decent stout, and currently the best beer I have had from Skovlyst. 6.5% abv version.
2.9 500ml bottle. Dark brown almost black color with beige head. Roasted malty aroma, licorice, caramel, bread. Sweet and bitter taste. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.
1.2 Pours a coffee coloured body with almost no head. Schizophrenic beer with tastes of fruit, malt, and liquorice... If only I liked liquorice.
2.8 Bottle. Redish-black color. Medium brownish head. In nose absolute domination of liquorice. In flavor is almost the same just with some notes of nuts and roast. Sweet. Some roast in aftertaste. Overall: ok. But if you are not scandinavian (which eat and drink liquorice as it is only food at the whole world), this is not your type of the beer.
3.4 Beautiful black stout with limited, yet durable, foam layer. The aroma is remarkably delicious. Licorice and anise in moderation, but also a little spice is indefinite. It tastes heavenly of anise, licorice and light caramel. However, anise and licorice which is the recurring theme of this stout, but finally suggested some berries (blueberries ?? - maybe!).
3.1 Bottle 50cl. Black with a beige head. Strong aroma of liquorice which also is dominant in the flavour. Secondly also some malt and subtle bitterness. Medium length.
2.7 Copenhagen 8/11 2014. 50 cl bottle from Netto. Pours dark brown almost black. Light brown head which quickly subsides to thin lacing. Distinct aroma of salty licorice. Soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Not much sweetness in taste but strong and dominating taste of licorice leaving a bitter and sour aftertaste. A bit too much licorice for me.
3.3 Licorice, coffee, caramel, herbs, hay and chocolate in the aroma. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body with a soft carbonation. Overall quite a nice Stout, but a bit to dominated by the licorice notes for my taste.
3.5 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, nose is roasted, toffee, liquorice, nice liquorice taste.
3.3 How: Bottle Appearance: Dark brown, small head. Aroma: liquorice, caramel, herbs. Palate: Medium body, soft carbonation.
3.2 Clear, very dark brown. Small beige head. Sweet, roasted aroma, licorice, aniseed. Creamy mouthfeel, ok bitter finish.
3.3 500ml bottle. 30-10-2014. Courtesy of Zita and Hansen. Thanks a lot! BBD: 16-04-2015. In short: liquorice ale. Pours dark copper with little off white head. Short head retention, some lacing. Really intenseliquorice aromas, some toher roasty and acid ones. Medium body, asoft carbonation, oily texture. Taste follows the nose, dark bitter liquorice flavours, some sweet caramel, little roasty, subtle acid due to dark malt bill. Peculiar and pleasant for a single cup.
3.3 DWG; Take away from Kastrup. Bottle 50 cl. Pours black with a moderate tan, lasting and lacing head. Nose fills with roasted malt and mostly liqourice, some herbal, light coffe and dark fruit. Taste is moderate sweet, light bitter and liquorice lasting. Body is medium to full, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft. A liquorice, Kongen av Danmark extravagance.
3.0 Bottle, 50cl. Pours dark amber-towards brown color with a beige, foamy head. Aroma is ... oh. Roasted malt, candy sugar, almonds, sweet soft liquorice, fruit, gajol booze. Wierd stuff. Flavour is sweet, roasted malts, caramel, heavy liquorice, roasted malts, brown sugar. Finish light salty liquorice. Oily texture. Better taste than flavour. Average body and carbonation.
3.5 Appearance: Dark coffe colour with a touch of red. Nose: Coffee, dark burned malt, some liquorice and Christmas spices. Taste & palate: Medium bodied, creamy, very fruity, with a touch of sweetness and plenty of Christmas spices. Slightly coffee-bitter finish which lingers on into a medium to long aftertaste. All in all a nicely balanced stout, tasty, appealing and easy to drink. Dry and fruity enough to not drop into the (slightly) sweeter category of dessert & Christmas stouts. Nice!
3.5 Bottle 50cl. Cream white head. Clear dark brown color. Aroma is bark, oat, nettles, berries. Taste is berries, wine gums and syrup. Hops still very present.
2.7 Dark brown Sweet Stout with barley, wheat, rye, oat, liquorice and nettle. Pours with yellow head that quickly vanishes. Pearly, well carbonated. Aroma is coffee, liquorice, malty syrup. Taste is most sweet, but also bitter.
2.5 Tan beige bubbly head. Deep ruby dark dark clear body. Few lacings. Aroma; roasted candied almonds, malts, anise, sweet liquorice, caramel, toffeefee. Taste; caramel, cocoa, chocolate, syrup, maplesyrup. Smootn sweet. Finishes syrupy. [50cl br btl abv6.5%, B@Liva, T@Middelfart Fyn DK]
2.8 (Bottle). The smell is strange and nasty with hints of acidic urine, sweet malt, tart fruit and licorice. The taste is better than the aroma, much taste of salty licorice, and with hints of roasted malt, oats and hops.
2.8 Øllens svar på blå gajol. Tung gajollakrids i eftersmagen.
3.1 Bottle 0,5l. Pours a black colour with a small beige head. An aroma of malt, syrup, caramel and licorice. The taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. A medium to full body, creamy texture and a medium long duration.
2.8 coffee and caramel aromas, appear dark brown with a small head. taste medium sweet light bitter. lively carbonation and a thin body.
2.7 Oatmeal stouts are my favorite beers at the moment, but I wasn’t impressed by this one. Aroma of cognac and taste of liquorice, salt and some spicyness. Light and dry palate. I won’t need to have this beer again. Couldn’t taste any oatmeal.
3.3 Pours very dark brown with a fairly large head that quickly disappears. Aroma is burnt caramel and malt. Flacour is heavily dominated by licorice and is quite sweet. A bit of a sour bite in the aftertaste. Not bad, but not exactly excellent either.
2.6 Bottle split with JF at a Sue’s away mini tasting in the ’Sham, 11/03/14, acquired from a shop at Copenhagen Flug. Opaque mahogony brown with a good sized tan covering that dissipates to a swirl pretty sharpish. Nsoe is dark berry fruit, brown sugar, light roast, faint cocoa, very basic aroma. Taste is pretty simplistic too comprising brown sugar, cocoa powder, dark toffee, sweet licks, dark malt. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, sweet close. Pretty cack - just to sweet.
3.2 Bottle 0.5l at Helsinki. Thanks to Rosenbergh. Colour is reddish dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sweetness, caramel, syrup and malts.
