Sly Fox Odyssey

Sly Fox Odyssey

Odyssey is an Imperial, or Double, IPA brewed with an assortment of hop varieties, and lots of them! Near orange in color, Odyssey is medium-bodied and (obviously) hoppy, with pleasant alcohol hints in the nose and finish.

3.6 Can. Dark golden body white head. Aroma is malts fruits and pines. Taste is malts with herbs and some pines. Aftertaste is nice bitter.
3.4 Canned 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Hazy orange/golden coloured, medium sized off-white head, fruity nose. Sweet malty, caramel, fruity hoppy and notes of dried fruits with noticable alcohol. Bitter sweet finish. Had better had worse.
3.5 Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen - amber coloured pour with good white head. Aroma and taste is tropical fruity and herbal hoppy, some grapefruit, lots of pine needles, piny and twiggy hoppy, some caramel malts, brutally bitter finish. pretty decent.
4.2 Can. Deep orange/copper color. Clear. Aroma is clean but hoppy. Strong malty taste with some hops and alcohol at first at first with very strong hops finish. Really good.
3.3 Draft at church publick NYC. Pours a light. Brown tan color. Easy drinking with a very boozy aftertaste. Interesting 2x iPa
3.9 From a 650ml bottle on 4/3/2015. Pours a acloudy orange golden with a medium white head. The nose features lots of caramel and honey. Take a sip and it’s quite malt forward - more caramel and toffee, with lots of sweet fruit and honey evident, along with a hint of booze. The hops reveal themselves at the back, with a firm, lingering bitterness providing the balance. Full bodied with soft carbonation. This is a bit of a curious double - not overly hoppy and quite malty, and very much on the sweet side for the style. It almost has a bit of barley wine character to it. Very enjoyable but not quite top flight.
3.8 Pours copper orange with a two finger off white head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, sweet malts, caramel, grassy hops, and some light bready malts. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma with the additon of some light tropical fruits, and a little booze in the finish. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a pretty bitter, slighty boozy, slightly dry, long, lingering finish. Overall, a pretty nice DIPA that has a just a tad too must noticeable booze for a 8.5 abv.
3.5 Draught. Rich amber color with foamy off-white head, floral hops aroma, low carbonation, very balanced hoppy taste, abrupt finish. Very good IPA
3.5 Poured from a bottle it is a clear golden color with a slight head. The aroma is citrus and the taste is white grapefruit that lingers bitter on the palate
3.3 Can on 2/2/15. Pours clear copper with a fluffy white head. Nose is hops and cream, bread. Taste is creamy, then floral and citrus hops, followed by some grapefruit bitterness, pine, alcohol, bread. Overall pretty good.
3.6 Poured a copper tinted amber color with a healthy white head which lingered......aroma of pine, sweet bread, melon......taste is citrus up front, thick mouthfeel, bread, with mild bitterness in the end.
3.7 Draft pour red-brown with white head. Taste of slight citrus with strong grapefruit aftertaste. This was joined by slight pine and other. Strong IPA. Perhaps not a several drink IPA, but good to start off!
3.4 Medium amber/copper color. Pine, some plum, biscuity malts on nose. Alcohol is a little forward on the mouth, medium bitterness, pine, a little medicinal. Pretty carbonated for a double.
3.9 Pours a nice amber color with no head retention and minimal lacing. Smells of alcohol, pine and slightly of floral aromas. A very nice flavor and a good beer!
3.3 355 ml can from Beer Up. Dark orange, slightly hazy with a nice, creamy and persistent yellow-ish head. On the nose toffee/burnt caramel, a hint of alchool, some darker type of berries, citrus peel, slightly nutty/toasted malts, some soapy and leafy hops notes. Pleasent bitterness upfront, pretty balanced and not over the top. Again lots of toffee/caramel presence, fairly big warming sensation, quite slick and sticky sweetness in the back, slightly coating the lips. Excellent drinkability for the ABV. Average carbonation, medium to full body, slightly oily texture. Far from being my favourite DIPA, but it’s certainly an above average example of the style.
3.6 Botella de 65 cl de el lúpulo tomada en julio de 2013. Ipa con sabores frescos, florales y algo herbáceos bastante fácil de beber y con un cuerpo medio de 8.5 vol. No esta mal, para repetir.
3.8 Transfer from BA review on 2-14-24- Served on tap in a snifter Appearance – The beer is served a clear amber color with a one finger head composed of a billowy white foam. The head has a decent retention, fading over time to leave a moderate level of bubbly lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite fruity with lots of tropical fruits of tangerine, mango, and some papaya. Along with these smells come some nice grapefruit hop smells. A rather moderately strong pine aroma brings with it a resinous and somewhat more poignant harshness to the nose, but in a kind of way that seems to balance the sweeter aromas nicely. Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter and bready taste with the tropical fruits that were detected in the nose right up front and being joined by a bready and doughy flavor. A grapefruit hop flavor is present upfront as well with it growing stronger as the flavor advances to the middle. Along with the grapefruit comes some light grassiness and a pine flavor. The pine really kicks into gear more at the middle of the taste with it growing quite potent at the end. While that occurs the doughy and sweeter flavors begin fading some with a caramel flavor coming to replace the lost fruit flavors. In the end with the pine getting decently intense, one is left with a rather resinous and moderately sweet but smooth flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both are rather nice for the sipping quality of the brew and really allow the resinous pine flavor to shine through at the end Overall – A rather nice Imperial overall with a nice moderately resinous finish. Very tasty.
3.7 Had this one a while back - remember it to be a big hoppy boozy beer with earthy and fruity notes.
3.7 12 ounce can from Beer Run. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a frothy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of tropical and citrus hops, mild earth and caramel. The taste is bitter citrus and tropical hops, a bit of pine and candied citrus, pale malt. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, decent balance.
3.2 Can: Papaya, tea, and dried leaves nose. Hazy amber, thick sticky head. Dried leaves, corn, orange peel flavor. Orange peel finish. Good complexity, disorganized. Biting bitterness, medium body, alcohol not very evident.
3.5 Aromas of citrusy hops, lemon candy, sweet bready malt. Clear, burnt orange, somewhat lasting white head. Dry, bitter but balanced by malt sweetness. Medium bodied.
3.5 Can in a pint glass. Dull orange and light brown aroma is pine and maple syrup. The taste is all resinous pine and heavy on the caramel malt. Sticky palate with perfect hop bitterness. Very good but, I like the 2013 version better than 2014.
4.0 355ml can. Pours almost orange with some particles suspended. Slightly off white head. Strong bouquet of fruity hops backed by some sweet malts with light detectable alcohol. Great hoppy taste, some caramel sweetness, long bitter aftertaste.
3.8 12 oz. can. Pours a dark orange color with thick off white head. Nose is strong pine and malt; flavor follows, mostly hop predominant, with a dry sweet finish and medium mouthfeel. Probably the best beer I got to try in Philly.
2.3 Can - Golden color medium head. Blam! huge amounts of hops, lingers on the palate, bitter. Little to strong of a flavor for my tastes.
3.4 The color of copper. Light beige head. Aroma is floral and piney hops. Spicy, malty, citrusy. Syrupy. A bit heavy, even for a double IPA.
3.8 Fruity, slightly sweet aroma but bitterness is dominant with citrus-like hoppy fragrance. Flavour opens with yeasty notes, a bit cookie and grain-like flavour but then a very intense, very straightforward bitterness rolls over the tongue leaving a refreshing but a bit dry aftertaste. This appears like a more bitter impression on the taste buds but the yeasty/malty opening balances it nicely.
3.6 12 ounce can. Bright orange color. Big foamy beige head. Fruity, spicy hop aroma. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor with peppery notes. Delicious caramel malt flavor balanced by a huge dose of complex hops. Finish is dry and bitter.
3.2 Poured gold with a big, white, foamy head. Floral and grassy aroma. Taste is grass and grapefruit with a bitterness that lingered in a somewhat unpleasant way.
3.8 Fantastica ipa o imperial ipa, profumi molto floreali e erbacei con note mielose. Al gusto un gran corpo con un amaro molto tagliente e una beverinità ottima. ---Rated BY Italianbeer85
